“Ladies, Rolly, you’re looking good,” I said.
“So we look ready then?” Bailey asked.
“Absolutely,” I said with a smile.
“I kinda like getting all kitted out,” Anna said. “I feel kinda badass in all this gear.”
“Yeah, it makes me feel powerful,” Tara said.
“That’s because you girls are powerful,” I said.
“I like the kevlar,” Bailey said. “They were a good pickup.”
“I just wish they were a bit lighter,” Rolly said.
“You’ll get used to it after a while,” I assured him.
“So what now?” Anna asked as she stepped up beside me and looked out over the land around us.
“Setting up our base, taking out the bikers and making sure our home was safe was a great first step,” I said. “Now we just have to go out there and start reclaiming the surrounding area. No one gets to come into our mountains and bully our allies. Let’s go out there and remind these National Guard jackasses that this is still America and that we don’t take kindly to tyrants here.”
“Hell yeah,” Rolly said.
“Well, I’m pumped,” Paige said.
“Me too,” Tara agreed with a nod. “Let’s go kick some ass.”
I turned to my team with a grin on my face, nodded, and headed for the truck. Once I climbed into the driver’s seat I stuck my head out the window and waved all the others forward.
“C’mon, we have some work to do.”
