“You’re wet. Perfect. I want inside you. Feel your hot sex surrounding my cock.”

He lowered his body until he was lying on the bed under her throbbing pussy. Her breath caught. He wound his arms around her hips and pushed her upright until her heated sex was placed right over his face.

Warm breath fanned her fevered skin, and he licked a circle over her inner thighs. She gazed down and her eyes met his. He twirled his tongue over her clit. She shut her eyes. Moans rushed past her lips as he darted quick flicks over her clit in fast glides. She gripped the short spikes of his hair, all the while rocking her hips over his lips.

“Yes, yes, yes.” Growing in volume, her pants increased in repetition. Tension coiled. He swiped mercilessly over her sex, licking her cream.

When he finally sucked on her clit, she almost came out of her skin. With a hard suck, everything shattered. The force of her orgasm rushed through. He pierced her sex with his avid tongue and sucked in leisurely licks. One after another, aftershocks slammed into her while her vaginal walls contracted and grasped at his tongue.

She fell on the bed with her ass still high in the air. Her knees shook as she tried to regain use of her mental faculties.

With one measured thrust, he entered her, the head of his cock piercing her cunt. Fisting the sheets in her hands, she gripped tight as he drove all the way in a swift glide. Not wasting time, he pulled back and thrust back into her, hard. She moaned as their skin slapped together with each thrust.

“God, that’s so good.” She propelled back into each of his thrusts.

He groaned and slammed back into her. “Fuck, baby. Slow down.”

Actions belied his words as each thrust became harsher, pushing her body further up the bed. He fucked her faster, harder, until her ass lifted off the bed with each plunge of his cock into her cunt. She groaned and pushed back into him. He rocked his cock into her at an angle propelling the tension inside her to a peak. He grazed a hand between her thighs and rubbed a finger over her clit, immediately sending her over the edge. She screamed his name.

Behind her, he lowered to cage her body under him. Gripping her hip tight, he groaned into the back of her neck and slowed his thrusts. His cock jerked inside her pussy, and semen shot out into her womb in warm spurts. Both fell on their sides, panting. He held her in his arms, snuggling her back with his front.

  Chapter Eight

“Could you at least look a little less angry? There will be other people at my office, you know. And I really need those papers if I’m going to write my story.”

Drex grit his teeth and bit back a growl. For the past two days he’d been able to hold her hostage in her home to ensure she recovered from her injuries. He’d cooked, they’d talked, and he hadn’t wanted their time together to end. It pissed him off that there was still someone out there ready to do her harm. In the time they’d spent together his feelings for her had solidified into something deep.

He glanced over at her frowning face before moving his gaze back on to the road. She gave him a smile and ran her hand up his thigh.

It was pretty clear she took after her parents. They’d loved to live their lives to the fullest. Their motto—“Life’s too short for regrets”—had become Chris’s own. Ironically, it had been when they’d decided to stop their world travels and adventures to stay home with Chris that they’d been killed in a car crash, hit by a drunk driver as they were heading home from the movie theater. She’d only been twelve at the time, and Cole had to take the parental role right out of college. Thankfully, their parents had enough money to keep both well taken care of. Chris had gotten a nanny, and Cole had gone on to open up a business with Drex. It was just one of his many enterprises with his best friend.

His hands tightened on the steering wheel. “If I hadn’t caught you at the door, you would’ve left without me.”

“No, I told you I had to pick up some stuff at the office. I’m feeling much better and I need to finish writing. I’ve got my laptop with me so you didn’t really need to come.”

Was she really going to ignore that someone wanted her to slash the Seduction Party story? It was hard enough not putting a tracking device on her ass and tying her to a chair so he’d know where she was at all times. In the time it had taken him to take a shower, she’d dressed and was about to walk out the door without him. He had to drag her back into the bedroom and make her wait for him while he put his clothes on.

“Drex? Did you hear me?” Her brows were raised, and she was giving him a concerned look.

  “What?”

“I said, we’re here. Go ahead and park underground, and we’ll take the elevator up to the lobby.”

Once in her office, he noticed a multitude of men kept coming in to speak to her. He watched her smile, joke, and talk with everyone without paying more attention to any one person.

Jealousy roared through him as men gathered around her. Unless they were looking to get their faces rearranged, they’d better stop staring at her rack. Past the point of holding back, he moved to her side and draped an arm around her waist, hauling her close to him. She gave him a warm smile, leaned into him, and continued chatting. Satisfied he made his point, he watched as the men stopped leering at her.

“So, did you finally get into the Seduction Party?”

Chris frowned at a short, balding man. “I never said I was trying to get into the Seduction Party, Steve.”

The guy she’d called Steve grinned. “All us reporters have been trying to get into that coveted event. If anyone had a chance at it, it’s you. So, did you?” The short guy licked his lips as he stared pointedly at her tits.

Drex’s eyes narrowed and a soft growl left his lips. Someone wanted to lose some teeth. He stared at the man. He’d need to find out who the guy was. A new possibility came to light. It was very likely that whoever was threatening Chris was after the same story. Having her around all these probable threats didn’t sit well with him. His gaze strayed to a young man and woman that closed in on Chris. Wide grins covered their faces as they made their way to Chris’ side.

“Can we talk to you for a moment?” The tall, slim blonde woman wore large glasses over her flushed face.

Drex looked her in the eyes, and she quickly looked away.

“Yesenia. Peter. Let’s go into my office.” Chris gestured toward her door.

Drex glared at the smiling boy when he gaped at Chris’s chest. Another one who needed to get taught not to stare.

Chris lowered her voice. “The three of us can talk in there.”

Drex locked his gaze on Chris and shook his head slowly. He wasn’t leaving her side in this lifetime. She glared at him and ushered the young couple into her office. She waited for Drex to walk inside before shutting the door.

Yesenia and Peter took seats in front of Chris’s desk while Drex stood off to the side.

Yesenia stared at Drex and looked scared shitless. Was he supposed to apologize for his size? She was definitely not in the frontlines; with that kind of fear she’d never be able to talk to people.

Chris slapped her head and groaned. “I can’t believe I forgot about calling you guys. I’ve been so busy it totally slipped my mind.” She turned to him and grinned. “Drex, these are my research assistants, Yesi Cylo and Peter Fumes. My super-talented helpers are going to come out with their very own stories soon. Once we finish with their rotation in our research department they’ll be made full-time writers. Guys, this is Drex Callum.”

He nodded at the two assistants, and they both stared at him as if here were there to arrest them.

“So what’s going on, Yesi?” Chris tapped her fingers on her desk.

  “Um.”

Yesi looked at Drex again. He stopped frowning in hopes she’d finally say whatever it was she needed to say.

“I just wanted to tell you that I still haven’t gotten anything out of the sources for the Seduction Party stuff you asked me to look into.”

“But I did.” Peter had a sl
y grin. “I know somebody who can get me a couple of names of the attendees.”

“Who is getting you that information?” Drex looked pointedly at Peter. He knew his staff was top of the line, so if there was a leak he needed to know.

Peter frowned at him and shook his head. “Sorry, buddy. I don’t really know you, and this is something Chris asked for.”

“It doesn’t matter anymore, Peter. I’m not writing any information like that in my story. I’m keeping it to a general description of what happens and mainly why the person hosting it is doing it.”

Yesi gasped. “You’re not doing the big article you talked about?”

Chris shook her head. “No. This is going to be a toned-down version of a new look at the Seduction Party.”

Peter folded his arms over his lanky chest and pouted like a little kid. “So you don’t need my list anymore?”

  Chris’s lips quirked.

“I’m afraid not, Petey. I do need you guys to find out more about what I’ll need for my next article. The “Your Taxes Paid for This!” piece. You both know that’s going to be our debut of the newspaper tablet and phone application, and I want to make sure it’s perfect.”

Yesi shook her head. “I still think you should go with the Seduction Party. It would bring so much attention. No one else got in there but you.”

Peter checked out Chris’s chest again, and Drex almost slapped the kid upside his head. “So what do we do with what we already have?”

“Trash it. It’s not going to be that kind of article, and I don’t need that information anymore.”

Yesi and Peter shared a look before turning to Chris. “So now if we have anything to share on the new story, do we just call you?”

Chris pulled her cell phone from her pocket. “Just text me as you always do. Unless there’s an emergency, I should be able to get back to you pretty quickly. Besides, with the newspaper going digital full time we might as well use email and texts just like the readers.”

Outside her office, Drex moved to Chris’s side and wrapped his arm around her waist. The two assistants walked away. With a dip of his head, he moved his lips by her ear and heard her breath hitch. God, she made him think of sex at the most inappropriate times. If her office hadn’t been glass, he’d have dragged her back in there, locked the door, and fucked her on her desk. Shit, now he was going to have a hard-on until he got her back to her house.

“We should go. Get what you need and let’s get out of here.”

When she peered up at him, her green eyes had that sexy glazed look as though she wanted to tell him they should get naked and fuck like animals.

In the elevator heading to the garage, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her. Her sweet taste filled him and soothed his thirst. She whimpered and his cock jerked in his pants. They had to stop. She moaned, grabbed his cock over his jeans, and squeezed. Lust shot through his veins.

“God, Chris.” Thoughts of getting into her wet cunt made it harder to hold on to his resolve. He was addicted. No. More than that…love. It was freeing and terrifying to admit it.

“I want you.” She swiped her tongue over his neck. It became a chore to remember why he shouldn’t pull down her jeans and sink his aching cock into her right then and there.

“I know, baby. Not here.” Need rolled through him. Gripping her by the wrists, he pulled away. The elevator dinged. She licked her lips, and he almost gave in.

The impulse to floor the accelerator and get her home in a few minutes appealed, but he was not reckless when it came to driving, especially when he had someone so precious in the vehicle with him.

A few miles down the road, he noticed a white van following them. His guys were in a black SUV. Eyes narrowed, he gripped the steering wheel and turned his face to ensure she had her seatbelt on.

  “What’s wrong? You look angry.”

Through clenched teeth, he let the words out. “We’re being followed.”

“Really? What car?” She peered over her shoulder, to find the culprit.

“The white van. It’s been on us for a few miles now.”

As soon as he said the words, the van accelerated until it was right on their tail. Pedal to the metal, he floored it until the car’s speed was enough to trigger multiple tickets and probably some jail time. He flicked a glance at Chris, but she just held on to the overhead handle and looked straight ahead.

Metal crunched when the white van banged into the back of the energy saver. He swerved and kept tight control on the wheel. The car tried to veer off the road. Another slap of metal on metal and he cursed, wondering where the hell his guys were. With a sharp turn, he took a side road and sped through various streets until he was back on another highway.

The white van had dropped back but was soon gaining on them. The smaller car jerked once again as the big van hit it from behind, all but ramming them over the guardrail. His gaze roamed the road, and he was glad there were very few cars in the area. It would make things much easier for what he planned to do.

Chris’s face was pale, and she gave him a wide-eyed look. His gaze locked on to hers. “Hang on, baby.”

The trust he saw in her eyes made his heart clench. She held his gaze and gave a sharp decisive nod.

He was about to do a move he’d not attempted since his reckless teenage years. Back when he’d thought he was going to be a race car driver. He got in the right lane, waited until the van was once again on him, and floored it. The burst of speed made them both jerk in their seats.

Adrenaline pumped through him and heightened his focus. He loosened his grip on the wheel and guided the car to do a full U-turn. The car’s tires squealed and burned the road until they were facing the wrong way. He used the small gap he’d seen between the median on the highway to get on the other side and off the nearest exit to his right.

“There’s an SUV on them now.” Chris was looking back over her shoulder. Her loud sigh helped him keep his focus. Finally.

Where the hell had those guys been for the past few miles?

Once they reached Chris’s home, he stayed in the car, got on his phone, and dialed Cole while Chris walked inside ahead of him.

“What the fuck happened today? Where the hell were our guys?”

“Calm down. I know how you feel. They said they lost you in traffic leaving the newspaper.” Cole sounded almost as angry as he was. And why the hell not? They’d almost been run off the road by a goddamned van.

“We almost got rammed the fuck off the road!”

When he heard Chris scream, his heart seized. He ran into the house to find her standing stock still a few steps from the door. Everything had been trashed in the time they’d been gone. Knives had been plunged into her leather sofas, and stuff had been strewn all over the place. Red spray paint had been used to leave her a message on her wall: This isn’t a warning. It’s a preview.

Curling an arm protectively over her, he lifted the phone back to his ear and guided her out the door. “We’re going to my place; her house was trashed. Send people to take care of the cleanup.”

  Chapter Nine

Chris stared at the large gate leading to Drex’s home. More security than she’d ever seen before crowded around the entrance. There was no reason for all these threats against her. She wasn’t going to write about anyone in particular, not to mention she didn’t remember recognizing anyone that night.

Inside Drex’s study, she sat on a sofa and racked her brain trying to figure out the mystery. Who the hell wanted her out of the way?

“Are you OK?” Drex’s soft words calmed the strain in her stomach. He brought her a tumbler with whiskey, and she took one long gulp, needing to halt the anxiety fluttering in her chest.

“Yeah. I just don’t get this. Who the hell is doing this? I mean I don’t remember any particular person from that night.” The only man she’d been focused on had been Drex. After she’d noticed him, everyone else had taken a backseat in her mind.

  “Are you sure? Thin
k back. There might be something you might have skipped over that could be really important now.”

He sat next to her on the sofa and pulled her on to his lap. The sandals she wore dropped to the floor. She bent her legs until she was cradled in his arms. He rubbed up and down her spine in soothing caresses. Dropping her head on to the curve of his shoulder, she continued to think hard, but nothing out of the ordinary came to mind.

“No. I don’t get it. This article isn’t a trashy tell on anyone. I’m very particular about what I write. I don’t really care about anyone’s sex life or what people do on their off time. All I want is to give hints over the sensual aspect and information on the fact it’s all for charity.”

“I know, baby. We’ll have to wait until it’s out to see if whoever it is realizes you’re not a threat to them.”

Warmth enveloped her, and his dark, sexy scent drifted up her nose. Hunger and arousal shot through her. She wanted him. Always wanted him, it seemed. Desire kindled the flame in her blood. She licked over the quickened pulse on his throat. A flick of her tongue on his skin and she needed more. He groaned and tightened his arms around her. The ringing of a phone interrupted them from going any further.

“I need to take this. I’ll be back in a few moments.” He clicked on his phone and started talking business as he walked out the door.

She had to get out and think. There was too much going on, too soon. Heading toward the back of his house, she went out and headed to the pond. It was one of her favorite places on his estate. Warm air cuddled her skin as she sat on the grass and stared at the water. Her thoughts strayed to her feelings for Drex. Cautious joy unfurled inside her. There was no need to question it too much. She loved him.

When she’d seen how happy her parents had been, she’d always said she’d enjoy her life as they had. She wanted that happiness for herself.
