The thought of him committing suicide sickened her. Remy had explained that dragons mated only once. They had only one shot at a family. To die with your mate wasn’t looked upon as suicide, only a continuation of a husband and wife being together, if not in this world then in the next.
“You will never again try to do anything so stupid as to kill yourself, Aidan Ghallager.” She slapped his chest. His deep laugh rumbled in his chest as he grabbed her hand and kissed it.
“I’m serious. If anything ever happens to me you will have to raise our child. Promise me you won’t ever do anything so stupid again.”
He placed his hands on either side of her face and kissed her ferociously. “I promise never to do anything so stupid again. As long as you promise never to die on me.”
Her eyebrow shot up. “I will do my best, Dragon.” She bent and bit his chest.
“Remy is taking Erin with him. They have to remove the implant and then she has to transition. He thinks it will be difficult for her. He’s been in contact with your parents, who are on their way from Cork.” His eyes became sad as she mentioned Erin.
“Aidan, don’t go there. The past is the past. You have Erin back. We are away from my father. Things will right themselves in time.”
Rowan stroked his skin, he shuddered as she felt him grow heavy and hard against her thigh. Yes, things would right themselves in time. They would take care of William Stone soon, but not tonight.
“I love you, husband.” She pressed her mouth to his lips. He rolled her onto her back, nestling between her thighs. She knew in that moment why she’d fought her father, why she’d chosen to live all those years through his abuse and horror. It was so she would find this man, be here with him, to love and hold. To bear his children and to know that loving another was worth everything she’d gone through in her life.
She would happily endure every ounce of pain again to find her place with him. For the first time in forever, Rowan knew peace.
