Jasper managed to pull back and looked down at her. Her eyes were glazed over and her mouth was swollen. She looked lovely.

  He swallowed.

"Do you want to go somewhere a bit more comfortable?" He croaked.

  "What's the alternative?"

"I take you right here, right now."

Cadence grinned and rolled her hips against his erection.

"I hope you've got some protection."

"In my back pocket." Jasper growled.

He had put it there when he knew Cadence was his mate. It had been in his pocket for a week waiting to be used.

"Then I don't think I can wait." Cadence whispered.

That was what Jasper wanted to hear. He swept her up into another kiss, battling his tongue against hers. His hands were shaking as they grabbed at her clothes, hurriedly stripping off her blouse and pulling off her bra.

Then he saw her breasts for the first time. They were big but they were pert and round. Just perfect. Her nipples were hard under his gaze. Unable to stop himself, Jasper reached out and brushed a thumb over one, Cadence letting out a whimper.

He grinned and shed his shirt before pulling Cadence up against his chest. The first skin-in-skin contact had him heating up. Cadence's hands were everywhere, exploring every part of his chest and back as Jasper's mouth ravished hers. One hand drifted down to his waist and made quick work of his trousers before Jasper reached her skirt. She lowered the zipper and reached in.

Jasper felt her warm hand around his cock, gently squeezing him, and felt his control disappear into thin air. It was by pure strength that he stopped his beast from bursting forth and coming out.

He lowered his head and took one of Cadence's breasts into his mouth. He suckled on it, using his lips, tongue and teeth. Cadence moaned and squeezed his cock as she pumped him, her other hand buried in his hair to hold him close.

Jasper found the zip on the back of her skirt and undid it, using both hands to push her skirt and panties over her hips, making them pool at her feet. Cadence pushed him away and kicked off her shoes before standing before him in just stockings and a garter belt.

Jasper's eyes went straight to the thatch of hair between her legs. Then he made his eyes move up her round belly, her big breasts and to her face. She was flushed and her eyes were bright. This was a completely different person to the one he first met. She looked on fire.

Cadence was on him before Jasper realized it and suddenly his trousers and boxers were around his ankles. She knelt before him, brushing a hand over his cock, and helped him out of his shoes and socks, fishing into his trousers and finding the condom in its packet. Jasper had to hold his breath as she opened the packet and rolled it down his length, every touch threatening to send him over the edge.

He grabbed her as she finished and hauled her up, pushing her back against the wall. Nibbling at her earlobe and neck, Jasper traced a hand up the inside of Cadence's thigh. Cadence arched against him and he brushed against the curls between her legs.

"Just let me know if I'm going too hard." He growled in her ear.

"Quit talking and fuck me, Jasper."

Jasper chuckled. His mate was very demanding.

He rubbed his finger against her wet folds and slid a finger deep inside. Cadence moaned and lifted a leg to bracket his hip, pulling him hard against her. Jasper raised his head and watched her face as she took a second finger, and then a third. She took him in easily, her walls tightening around her digits.

Jasper couldn't wait to get inside her. He had to do it now. Cadence cried out in frustration as he withdrew his fingers but didn't complain when he lifted her up in his arms, wrapping her legs around his waist. He kissed her as he thrust his cock deep inside her, pushing himself to the hilt.

Cadence threw her head back and moaned, her inner walls contracting around him enough to make Jasper see stars. He held her for a moment as he let her get used to his length.

  "Okay there?"

Cadence groaned and tilted her hips towards him, pushing him even deeper.

  "I said fuck me, Jasper."

  "Yes, ma'am."

Jasper pulled out almost all the way and thrust in again, kneading her backside in his hands. The tempo climbed quickly, Cadence's kisses becoming as urgent as Jasper's ministrations.

Her hips met his and she clutched at him, her gasps and moans music to Jasper's ears. It wasn't long before she climaxed, screaming his name as her body tightened up around his cock.

With a growl, Jasper hammered into her, burying his face in her neck at his orgasm rose up faster than he could cope with and he came hard, his seed shooting into the condom, emanating a shudder from him that rippled through his whole body.

They stayed wrapped in each other's arms for some time, Jasper nuzzling Cadence's shoulder, pressing gentle kisses to her skin. Cadence kissed his shoulder, her soft lips working their way up his neck and face, finishing at his mouth. Jasper kissed her back, savouring the taste of her mouth and memorizing every inch of her lips.

To his surprise, he felt himself hardening against inside her. Never had he hardened again so quickly after sex.

Cadence felt it too. She smiled against his mouth and wriggled her hips.

"Now you can take me somewhere more comfortable, Mr Webster."

  Jasper chuckled.

  "It would be my pleasure."

"God, Cadence, the things you make me do."

Cadence giggled and sat up, running her hands up Jasper's bare chest. With her hair loose about her shoulders, her blouse and bra open to bare her breasts and her skirt bunched up around her hips, she looked wild. She looked amazing.

  She was his.

"I was about to say the same thing about you." Cadence scraped her nails down his chest, causing Jasper to growl. "Sex on your desk? Are you mad?"

Jasper grinned and caught her hands, pulling her to him for a kiss.

"Mad for you." He murmured against her mouth.

It had been three weeks since that night in his home when they first made love. Three weeks since Jasper had known for definite that Cadence was his mate and he wanted her by his side. He had fallen for her hard and every day that went by strengthened the love he felt for his fiery woman.

She made him do things he wouldn't consider doing, often sexual. Since she wasn't a fan of wearing trousers, always wearing skirts and dresses, this gave Jasper lots of naughty ideas. They had had sex in the elevator, in the car, even in his office.

One time they had made love in the middle of the day with just a wall separating them and the rest of the office floor. Cadence had told him off for being so impulsive but Jasper could tell that she had enjoyed it as well.

Just like now. It was fifteen minutes since the last employee had left and Jasper hadn't been able to wait until the evening when they got back to his apartment before he got his hands on her.

So he had put Cadence on his desk and fucked her hard, barely remembering to put a condom on. While he wanted to feel skin-on-skin, he didn't want to get Cadence pregnant before he knew where they stood.

He still hadn't told her what he was. He kept making excuses to himself that it wasn't the right time or he couldn't find the right moment but, if he were truly honest, he was scared.

Cadence hated shifters and she would run a mile once she knew that he was a shifter. Jasper couldn't bear to lose her, not when he was determined to have her for himself. He would go crazy if he didn't have the woman he loved because she hated him.

He pushed away these thoughts and pulled away from Cadence, stripping off the condom and putting it in the waste basket under his desk. Cadence emptied it since the cleaner wasn't allowed in his office if the door was locked so there was no need to worry about office gossip.

While there were rumours that Jasper and Cadence were screwing, they hadn't gone public with their relationship, choosing to keep it quiet and away from prying eyes. It was to protect Cadence more than Jasper but Jasper wasn't ready to de
clare their relationship yet; not until they had spoken about him being a shifter.

They dressed, Cadence slipping out to go to the restroom. Jasper gathered his things and put them in his briefcase. Then he saw Cadence's bag, which had tipped onto its side on the couch and some of the contents had spilled out. He went to it and knelt down, putting things back into her bag.

Something caught his eye. It was Cadence's little red notebook, which had fallen open. The word 'shifter' caught his eye and Jasper picked it up. The next few pages were full of Cadence's loopy writing, all about shifters and sources that they were animals, monsters and should be put down.

A glance at the pages before and after showed that she had written these only two days ago. When she had said she was thinking of dropping the shifter story. Jasper had been relieved when she had revealed her plan to ease off looking into shifters.

  She had lied. To him.

  "What are you doing?"

Cadence was standing in the doorway. Hands on her hips, she was glaring at him in confusion. Then her eyes fell on the notebook in his hands and her eyes widened.

Anger building inside him, Jasper stood. He held up the offending bits of paper.

"I can't believe you still haven't dropped the shifter story." He growled. "I told you it will be bad for you if you expose shifters like this."

But Cadence was already shaking her head.

"Those are old notes, silly. I haven't used them in weeks." She entered the room and took the notebook off him, sliding it into her bag before picking the bag up. "Besides, I haven't worked on the story for the last three weeks."

  "Really?"

"Really." Cadence grinned and rubbed his arm. "I've got something more interesting to take up my time."

Jasper didn't believe her. And it hurt to know that she was lying to him. He wanted to call her up on it but didn't want an argument right now.

He would just have to bide his time and hope that Cadence wouldn't do anything stupid.

  Chapter 6: In Serious Trouble

Cadence knew she was in trouble with Jasper and begged off an evening at his place with a headache, saying she wanted an early night. He hadn't believed that, either, but he had been gracious enough to drop her off at her apartment, giving her a gentle kiss goodnight and promising to check by her in the morning.

She hated lying to him but it had to be done. If she had told him that she was still researching for her book, then Jasper would have thrown a fit and forced her to stop. They had an argument before early on in their relationship about her opinion on shifters and it hadn't gone down well. The only upside to it was the make-up sex they had had a few moments later, and it had been the hottest sex she had ever experienced in her life.

Cadence knew she was falling for him. The past three weeks had been incredible and Cadence couldn't think of a time when she had been happier. Despite her reservations about the man, Jasper had shown a side to himself she never thought she would see on him. Plus, the way he made love had Cadence's toes curling every time she thought about it.

Her mind had started wandering. She was beginning to wander if Jasper would ask her to marry him. But the minute she thought about it Cadence pushed it away. Jasper wasn't a settling down kind of man and even if he was it was far too early. So she would have to take what she could get before he finished his job and walked away.

Would he ask to carry on the relationship? Cadence didn't know. But she did know if he walked off without looking back, he would be taking a bit of her heart with him.

She was still thinking how she was going to explain away the research notes she had been working on earlier that day when she entered her apartment and stepped on an envelope. Putting her bag down, Cadence scooped up the envelope and examined it closely, noting her name printed on the front. This was odd. Their mail was left in the mail boxes downstairs.

Shutting the door behind her, Cadence opened the envelope. Inside was a single sheet of paper, which held an address and a time for that evening. Two hours from now. The address was somewhere on the outskirts of the east side of the city.

Her skin prickled as the hairs on her arms stood up. From what her research told her, the wolf shifters occupied that side of the city, the west and north controlled by the lion shifters.

She would be going into wolf shifter territory and seeing for herself that shifters really did exist. This was the breakthrough she had been looking for. Her unknown source really had come through, especially with a full moon tonight.

Picking up her bag again and putting the envelope and address in her pocket, she slipped out and closed the door behind her.

Mullen was pulling the limousine into his street when Jasper's cell phone rang. Hoping it was Cadence, he answered without checking the ID.

  "Webster."

"Sir, it's Dorian. Cadence has gone out."

Jasper stiffened. He rapped on the window and signalled for Mullen to stop. From the sound of the younger lion's voice Cadence's going out was not good.

  "Where's she gone?"

"I don't know but she high-tailed out of here moments after getting in the door. I went into the hall and saw her leaving."

"Have you got that tracker in her car?"

When they had first started dating, Jasper had been worried that someone might try to attack Cadence again so he had, without Cadence's knowledge, put a tracker on her car so he would know where she was if something happened. There hadn't been any attacks in the last three weeks so he had lowered his guard and believed that nothing was wrong. Evidently he had done the right thing by keeping the tracker.

"Yes, sir." There was a pause as Dorian tapped at something. "It's got her driving east out of the city." He sounded nervous. "Isn't that wolf territory, sir?"

Even a relatively newer shifter, Dorian was one of Jasper's more loyal soldiers, hence why he had moved in with his girlfriend Belinda into the apartment when Cadence arrived to keep an eye on her. While Jasper wasn't keen on having everyone with a shifter status revealed and people portraying them in a bad light, he didn't want anyone to hurt her, either.

Now he really didn't want her hurt. The woman he loved had a stubborn streak in her that refused to lie down when told. And now it was going to get her in harm's way.

"Yes, Dorian, that's wolf territory." He said grimly. He made a signal for his driver to turn round. "Call Mattie and the usual gang. We're meeting at the wolf's meeting ground as soon as possible."

Cadence arrived at the location with five minutes to spare. Zipping up her coat, she got out and crept through the trees. Her source had told her that the Alpha of the wolf pack liked to prowl around at full moon, sleeping rough in the woods and taking whatever woman he could find at the time, usually a female shifter.

This was her chance to show that shifters were barbaric in their behaviour, unable to control their baser urges. It was a pity it wasn't the Rex of the lion pride but rumour had it had was more refined and kept a tighter hold on his pride. With her hatred stemming from the lions, that would be an even better story.

But the wolf Alpha would be perfect.

Cadence saw the fire first, burning brightly in a clearing. There was a sleeping bag beside it and a backpack but there was no sign of anyone. Ducking behind a bush, Cadence took out her phone and selected the picture app, beginning to take pictures. There may not be anyone there but there was a chance she would catch something.

A twig snapped behind her and she spun round. A shadow moved between the trees. Fear rising up in Cadence's chest, she managed to find her voice.

  "Hello? Who's there?"

"I knew you'd take the bait."

Cadence stared as Jolene stepped out from the shadows, wearing a black jumpsuit and black thigh-high boots with four-inch heels. Her hair was left loose on her shoulders, her eyes glowing gold.

Odd, Cadence had never seen that before.

"Jolene." Cadence stood and dusted herself off. "What are you doing her
e?"

"Making sure you don't get Jasper."

Cadence stared at her in surprise. Jolene wanted Jasper so she lured her out into wolf territory? That didn't make any sense. Why would...?

Then she saw Jolene's eyes glow again, a hang of fang peeking out from her lower lip, and she knew. She began to back away.

"You're one of them." She spat.

"Got it in one, sweetie." Jolene jerked her head towards the fire. "Now move."

She advanced on Cadence and Cadence had no choice but to go into the clearing. She could feel the heat of the flames at her back as she stumbled closer to the fire. Jolene advanced on her, walking easily over the uneven ground in her heels, her mouth curved in a sultry smile. Her fangs were visible now, Jolene not even attempting to hide them.

"What have you got there, Jo?"

Cadence froze, the flames now seeming to lick at her bare legs. Slowly she turned. A man appeared from the trees on the other side of the clearing. He was magnificent with tousled blond hair coming down to his broad shoulders, muscles rippling in every part of his body. His very naked body. He wasn't even wearing boxers.

Cadence found her eyes drifting down to his cock, which was hard, long and thick against his belly. She glanced away quickly.

"I've got a delicious little morsel for you, big brother."

Brother? Jolene and this man were related? Cadence knew she was in trouble when the Alpha's eyes ran over her body, his cock seeming to harden even more. He growled.

"She certainly is delicious." He prowled towards her. "I love women like this."

"I know you do, Carl." Jolene giggled. "That's why I lured her here."

Cadence swung round on Jolene, who was looking at her with a triumphant smirk. She wanted to lash out and hit the woman but she knew enhanced strength would have Jolene beating her to a pulp and not break a sweat.

  "Bitch." She snarled.

  Jolene shrugged.

"At least I get to have the hot boss now. He won't be able to remember your name once I'm done with him."
