“What the hell you doing?” Zeek asked as Coco tried to get up.
“I’m going to the floor, I’m single,” she laughed.
Zeek shook his head at her as she made her way to the floor. Jayliah stood there with her back to the girls as the DJ did the count off.
“Okay, here we go. One…two…three.”
Instead of throwing the bouquet, Jayliah turned around and looked for her sister. She walked over to Coco who was standing there looking crazy.
“Here you go, baby,” she told Coco.
“Wha…” Coco’s voice trailed off as Jayliah moved behind her and she saw Zeek on his knee with a ring box in his hand. “Oh my God!”
“Jacole, I remember a year ago you asked me why I loved you. Well, I love you because since the moment we met each other, you have been loyal and by my side when the people I thought had my back didn’t. You took all my bullshit and never folded on a nigga. You gave me one of the most precious gifts a man can ever get and you’re about to give me another one. We’ve had some bad times, some horrible times, and some fun times but all in all, I wouldn’t have rather went through it with anyone else. I guess what I’m trying to say is, will you stick with a nigga for the rest of your life and marry him?” Zeek asked.
By now, Coco had mascara running down her face from crying. She couldn’t believe that this was actually happening. She never knew Zeek could speak such beautiful words. “Yes! Yes!” she yelled.
“Looks like another player is about to turn in his card!” the DJ announced as Zeek slid the ring on Coco’s finger.
Coco pulled Zeek to her and kissed him like she had never kissed him before. There were plenty of times she wanted to just give up on Zeek but her heart wouldn’t allow her to. She knew deep down, no matter what they went through, that she loved him.
“Congrats, you two. I’m happy you finally did it,” Steven told Zeek as he pulled him in for a hug.
“I’m happy you gave me your blessing.” Zeek told him. Zeek was so nervous that he’d had to ask Steven and Jayliah if he should marry Coco. He knew everything he had put her through but he didn’t know if she loved him enough to marry him. After they assured him to follow his heart and do it and Jayliah helped him pick out his ring, he was ready to do it.
“I’m so happy for you, Coco,” Jayliah told her sister.
“I’m happy for you, too, Jay. I can’t believe this, though. Why didn’t you tell me?” Coco asked.
“Girl, I was about to take the ring and ask you myself. You had that man so scared to ask you,” Jayliah laughed. “Now go have a dance with your man,” she said as she finished wiping her sister’s face.
Coco walked over to Zeek and wrapped her arms around him and pulled him to dance with her as ‘All My Life’ by K-Ci and Jojo started to play. Coco looked into his light brown eyes, and fell deeper in love with him.
“I love you, Jacole,” he told her.
“I know. I love you, too, Ezekiel.” She smiled as she kissed his lips.
