Chapter One
1810 Shropshire, England
“I ha’e found ye husbands, girls,” Grigor Snowe pronounced to his four wide-eyed daughters.
“Grigor, what are you speaking of? You have found these girls men to marry?” Faith responded. Their mother was raised in Sussex and their father in Wales. They were an arranged marriage between a rich family looking for land to purchase in Sussex. They were a match since their vows. Their mother was an English rose and their father a Welsh brogue.
“I ha’e indeed, Faith. These girls need structure outside of the country, an’ ye ha’e always wanted titles for our sweetin’s. So I ha’e made a marriage contract, or a dicker, with four different noblemen, one in London, another in Ireland, elsewhere in Scotland, and finally France. Ye is betrothed, girls. Ye is spoken for, ladies, which means the time to grow and learn about structure and what is expected from a noblewoman is now. I ha’e hired tutors and dance instructors to teach ye the master art of being a lady. Ye will learn, and ye will be respectful from this time forward.” His eyes latched onto Anna and her sisters’ terrified faces.
“Are you certain…” Faith started.
“It has been done, Faith. I ha’e put much coin into the hands of noblemen and expect a return. The dickers have been reviewed and signed and cannot be overturned. Ye will marry from the age of eighteen years up to the year of yer twenty and one birth date. Otherwise, we are to be paid ten times over what I have paid.”
Since that night, each girl knew they were to marry. True to their father’s words, tutors and instructors and maids were brought into their home to train them in what was expected from them as ladies of their husbands.
Miss Annabella Snowe was a twin of two sets of twins her mother had given birth to. Her sister Agatha Snowe was her twin born exactly three minutes after her delivery. This made Annabella the eldest of four sisters. The younger girls, Ada and Amelia, were born just one year after her and her sister’s birth, which made life at home interesting.
Four girls living in the English countryside, next to Wales, far from society with the nearest town of Shrewsbury being a full day’s ride away, tended to get into spots of trouble. Anna’s father, who was not titled, but rich in investments, lived in the countryside that their mother had fallen in love with. Trips to London were limited because of their mother’s health, so the girls grew, knowing nothing of life outside of flowery settings and animal-filled hills, and were naïve to be sure. For years, she listened to her mother lament over the fact that they were not titled, and her daughters would marry men unworthy of their upbringing, that settling in the countryside may not have been the best of choices
Annabella was to marry His Grace, David Winthrop, Duke of Kin
gsberry. She had been given pictures of her intended and was pleased to see he was attractive to the eye. His hair of black and eyes of brown would bring beauty to the sons she was to bear him. Her hair of fire and eyes of green moss would allow a beauty to her daughters. Anna was well contented, indeed, so she focused upon her studies and learned what was expected from her. Her other sisters were as well gratified with their matches and began a tentative wait for their bridegrooms.
As the years passed, the girls turned into wonderful beauties, the ilk of any noblewoman in the society of which they were to enter.
Agatha and Anna both turned eighteen on New Year’s Day, 1820. It was a wonderfully cold and clear day for celebration. Her twin sister had received a letter that her intended was coming for her. A wedding took place a month later. As the guests arrived, so did the telling comments of Anna’s fiancé. Women of the ton who had slept with her betrothed, gossiping about his “masculinity” and laughing at her telling blushes, would whisper and twitter. Anna let the gossip go and waited for a letter from her fiancé. When none came, Anna dressed to be her sister’s bridesmaid and walked the aisle.
At the end of the festivities, Anna’s heart shriveled slightly at the realization that her future husband was not to be there.
The next year, Amelia’s intended came for her on her eighteenth birthday. However, Ada’s fiancé was absent. Anna felt a measure better knowing she was not the only sister waiting for her betrothed. The wedding festivities came without a hitch, until Ada was seen with a well-known rogue. Rumors began to circulate, and Ada did not seem to be too remorseful, even when Father declared that he would be writing to her intended.
Months later Ada’s scandal bore fruits of labor, which came with a surprise for her. Her fuming betrothed came for her during a midsummer heat wave. They married quickly and quietly after the couple was caught in a scandalous kiss, which left Anna alone in a home with her increasingly irritated father and worried mother. One scandal had been averted, but the other was still brewing. Gossip concerning the Duke of Kingsberry circulated to her parents, and they were ill at ease with his continued absence.
She dreamed of him coming for her and telling her he had abandoned her for good reason and to forgive his boorish actions. She would forgive him his folly, marry him, and have many children. Then her musings changed to him begging her forgiveness and sweeping her away to marry in Gretna Green.
She was well versed in the knowledge of what happened between husbands and wives. She did live in the country and saw many a breeding, and her twin sister was not exactly quiet the night of her wedding. Her body’s awakenings were stirring, and she had more than once imagined her duke on their wedding night.
He would come to her as she wore a virginal nightgown, awaiting his pleasure. He would remove his cravat and starched linen wedding shirt. His breeches would cling to his powerful form like second skin. His cock would stand proud and prevailing under the cloth.
Her mouth watered at the implication of how large he was. He would come to her and lay her upon the bed. He would whisper words of love and encouragement for her to let him remove her nightwear. She allowed his strong hands to wander up her thighs and over her belly and then over her shoulders.
The nip in the night air would cause her nipples to pebble and her pussy to pulse. He would gasp at her bountiful bosom and beg her to touch them. She would acquiesce to his lustful desires. He would pinch and caress her, and her twat would flood with her initial cum, preparing her for his massive cock.
She would try to sit perfectly still, as was a wife’s duty. However, her yearnings would win out over better judgment, and her hips would begin to move against his hips. He would hiss and calm her so he could kiss her breasts in turn. She quivered at his expert touch, and would plead with him to touch her on her cunt.
She knew it was a sinful thought. However, they were now man and wife, and she wanted all of him. She lusted for him. She would not deny herself the pleasure from his body.
His fingers would part her folds, and he would find her embarrassingly wet and ready. He would croon to her at how perfect she was and how much he wanted to sample her cunt. He would dip his middle digit finger into tight pussy, and she would groan a pleasing pressure. His thumb would then massage her clitoris, and she would come repeatedly upon his digit. He would pull his hand from her drenched slit, and he would bring her cum to his mouth and lick his hand clean.
She would shiver at his action and crave to taste herself upon those chubby fingers. She wanted to taste him as well. So she would lay him upon the bed and remove his boots and breeches to find him hot and hard. The duke would be larger than her father’s most prized stallion. She had no notion of how he was going to fit into her tiny cunt.
Her small fingers would slide from the bottom, where his ballocks sat, to the tip of his cock. He would buck his hips and beg for her twat. However, she would have none of that. She had come upon a maid servicing a footman in her father’s home, and she knew men loved their cocks licked and sucked like a sweet treat. So she would take his prick into her mouth and suck as much of him as she could.
After a few tense moments of his moaning and grabbing her hair to hasten her givings, he would pull her mouth away from his cock. He would then be blind with passion as he threw her to the bed and entered her tight pussy, seating himself cleanly into her slit.
There was no pain as she expected, but only the kind of numbing pleasure she heard coming from her other sister’s room. She would pump her hips in a naïve fashion as he pumped into her cunt.
They would both moan and beg for release. He would say lewd and wonderful statements to her. He would tell her she was the one and only woman for him. He would tell her that her cunt was his heaven. He would press into her harder and faster as he caressed her breasts.
Her hands would wander from his shoulders to his bottom where she would anchor her nails as her body took his pounding punishment. And when it was over, and she regained her sight, he would be a sweating mess, but a handsome sweating mess.
The next almost two years passed slowly, with no word from her betrothed, and Anna watched as her twin and her younger sisters had children of their own. Anna spent most of her time traveling, visiting one sister and then another. She desperately wanted to stomp off to the Duke of Kingsberry’s estate to throttle David Winthrop, but she never did. It would not have been proper, and her father would never lower himself to beg or fight with a member of the ton. Well pleased with their role as grandparents, her mother and father were only too happy to follow Anna as she traveled.
It was on her twentieth birthday that her loving and erotic daydreams turned into wonderings of rejection and rebuff for the cad known as the Duke of Kingsberry. He would come to her on his bloodied hands and knees, crooning spouts of poetry and love. However, Anna would have no quarrel with him. She would send him off from her sight, leaving a blood trail to his expensive carriage. She would laugh and walk away from him to find another mate worthy of her beauty and poise.
With hair hanging to her nipped waist, covering breasts that were perfect and bountiful, to long sleek legs, and perfectly sized feet, Anna was a beauty in her own right. Anna soaked up the vanity displayed by the townsmen to soothe her broken heart. She had been preparing to be the wife to the Duke of Kingsberry for years.
Her mother and father noticed the change in her at this particular point. And to rectify the situation her father wrote a letter to the duke to inquire of when his eldest son, the heir to the Kingsberry dukedom would be coming for his future bride. No response was sent to his inquiry. Her father was blistering mad and began to shun the name Michael Winthrop and that of his son David.
Anna heard her parents talking one evening about the situation at hand. “The girl is almost twenty and one, Faith! The man has yet to come for her hand! We have had gossipers in our home, making a mockery of our daughter’s feelings.”
“The dicker was specified to end this New Year’s Eve, which is t
o be in four months’ time. Give the boy a chance to make his way here. As you know, some men are not at all happy to marry until they must, especially noblemen. And he is a young man who is sowing his oats before marriage. You should understand that, my husband.”
* * * *
Mayfair, London 1822 three months before the New Year
David knew of his engagement to the country girl years ago. He had been informed by his father that a business deal was made with a wealthy Welsh man, who was not titled, but wanted to buy titles for his four daughters. David had resented the fact that his father had sold him into a marriage he did not want. To a woman he could never love. He did not believe in the convention of love. His father, the Duke of Kingsberry, had squandered their earnings away on drink, women, and gambling. His mother did not stop his father from signing the contract. She was a woman who never crossed his boorish father. So he was sold into a marriage that he could not remove himself from.
When his father took to his sickbed, David was placed in command of the estate at the age of seventeen. With the help of his father’s steward and the money given to them by Mister Grigor Snowe, the investments took off, as well as the dilapidated estate. The days of being referred to as “the destitute duke” were over. His tenant’s homes were back into repair.
As the years passed he felt the vise close in around his lungs, as her twenty and one birth date came nearer. He had sent the contract to a number of solicitors and was informed, to his deep dismay, that the contract was valid and in good stead.
