The Smiley Face Killer Page 29

by Leroy Clark

The Chief pushes Slate and his partner Jerry Blake to find suspects fast, not an easy task. Steven was in a play and in rehearsal with a group of fifteen. He’d also had a bevy of gay lovers and friends.

Slate and Jerry interview each one. All admit he was gifted and a few vehemently hated him. Moreover, a student named Lightfoot was missing.

And then a warning from the killer: “I know where you live. I can get to you,” followed by another murder. This unnerves Slate, making him fear for his life. Will he be safe? Will he find Lightfoot before it’s too late? Will he find the killer before the killer finds him?

The Smiley Face Killer is full of suspense, excitement and surprises intertwined with hope and anxiety, hope that things will turn out all right and fear that they won’t.
