Hook, Line and Shotgun Bride Page 19

by Cassie Miles

Benjy had adapted without a qualm. They were a family, no matter what their DNA makeup.

The trials for Neil and Prentice were still going through appeals, but both men were in jail. Because they’d abducted her, they were denied bail and deemed to be a danger to others.

This would be a small ceremony with only a few good friends and a dinner at Waffles afterward.

She peeked through the open door leading down the aisle and saw Shane standing there in his black suit, looking like the most handsome man on earth. Beside him was his best man, Josh LaMotta, who was still dating Marie, the cake baker.

An infant wailed, and Angela turned toward her half sister, Eve, who had returned to the States with her newborn and her macho military husband.

  “Are we ready?” Eve asked.

Benjy stepped up in front of her. “The baby is being loud. We can’t start until the baby gets quiet.”

Eve leaned down so Benjy was at eye level with the infant. “You tell her.”

Benjy kissed the baby on the nose. “Shh.”

Miraculously, the child settled down. Eve handed her daughter off to her husband. She leaned close to Angela and whispered, “Am I noticing a little bulge under that suit?”

“A three-month-old bulge.” Angela patted her tummy. “And the best part is that we got pregnant the old-fashioned way.”

  Yvonne signaled the organist.

Joyfully, Angela went down the aisle.
