“These people had great wisdom. They communicated telepathically and were able to travel into other dimensions enjoying a time of peace and enlightenment.”

“That blows my mind. What happened to them?”

“Evil came into the world and the island sank into the sea, killing most of them. The surviving Lemurians were scattered all over the Earth. For their own safety, they were forced to conform to the ways of humans, having to ignore their special abilities. In time, they forgot their powers and history.”

“I see. That’s terrible.” She glanced down at the objects in his hand. “Anyway, to someone like me those items look like regular old rocks.”

He laughed. “That’s the way we planned it. And it has worked for many years. When the government took over the land around the caves, we thought they would be safe forever. Then we heard the rumblings about the aliens around the area and knew it was time to retrieve the stones.” He carefully wrapped them in a velvet cloth and put them back in his pack.

“How can you know such things being so far away?” She was at a loss not understanding how people from another planet could know what was happening on Earth.

“You’d be surprised at what we know. We intercept transmissions from your world and others to keep our finger on the pulse of the cosmos. We have workers listening to your news broadcasts every day and night twenty-four-seven.” He changed his shirt. “You might say we are the peacekeepers mostly by listening, and at other times, like now, we have to take action.”

“That’s amazing.” Extraterrestrials were listening to their daily lives from millions of miles away trying to keep peace. She wondered if the world leaders would do things differently if they knew other worlds were out there listening and watching.

“Elle, come to bed.” She hadn’t been watching him and realized that he had been making a bed for them. “It’s late on Earth and I know you’re worn out. You need to rest.”

Oh my, she was going to have to sleep in the same spot as Kole. Nervous and self-cpnscious she eyed the bed. “I can’t sleep. What if that thing comes after us while we’re sleeping?”

“I trust the Ant People. Nothing is coming through that tunnel without us knowing it.” He reached his hand out. “Come to bed. I’ll hold you and protect you through the night.”

He wanted her to come to bed with him, to get warm, but her heart did a double time beat against her ribcage. Almost giddy from being this close to Kole she was just a bit anxious about this part of their adventure. Tonight she was exhausted. She wasn’t afraid of him and wanted him, which was crazy under the circumstances. She didn’t even know if he could make love. Her thoughts tumbled and churned as she crawled into the sleeping bag beside him.

“Let me hold you.” He pulled her against his chest, spooning her against him. “Tomorrow will be a better day. Try to go to sleep. You’re safe with me.”

She snuggled on her side, closer to Kole. Here she was in a cave on another world with Ant People and all she could think about was how good his touch made her feel. It felt wonderful to be next to him after all they had been through. She hoped there would be more to come. With his arms around her, she finally began to relax. Fighting her exhaustion, physically and mentally, she mumbled, “I’m tired.”

“I know.” He held her close and whispered in her ear. “It isn’t practiced on my planet, but yes, to your question. I can make love.”

Her eyes popped open. “Really?” she mumbled and wondered what that would be like.

“Yes, now go to sleep, your body and mind need rest.” He held her tight. “We will have our time together.”

As mixed up as she was, and he chose to answer that question. Wow! Did I hear what I think I did? He can make love. When I get some energy, I’m going to do something about that. She sighed and snuggled against his body warmth. Much to her surprise she was drifting off to sleep, safe in his arms thinking of how great they would be together. Her heart did a tumble at the thought of lying in his arms all night.

Several hours later she rolled over and reached for Kole to find he had left her side. She opened her eyes to see him across the room, standing over a fire, stirring some sort of pan. Something smelled like chicken noodle soup and she was starving. Stretching, she pushed the sleeping pad away and glanced toward the cave entrance to see the rain coming down in sheets blowing sideways. She sniffed the air and her stomach growled.

Kole glanced in her direction. “Hey there, how are you feeling this morning?”

“Better, I think.” She walked over to the fire. “I’m stiff and sore, but I’m good.” She peeked into the pan as he stirred it.

“What do you have in the pan?”

“Breakfast.” He grinned at her with that magnetic smile. “Want some?”

“Oh, yeah.” She peeked in the pan. “Where did you get chicken noodle soup?”

“It was one of the things I had in my backpack from the supplies I picked up in town. The soup and those Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory bars are a couple of my favorite things from your planet. Those and apple pie.” He stared into the fire as if deep in thought. “Dotty makes the best apple pie,” he said.

“Yeah, I like those things, too, but chicken noodle soup will hit the spot.” She practically drooled as she watched him stir the soup.

He dished up the food in something that looked like a paper bowl and handed it to her with an odd-shaped spoon.

“Did you see any Ant People last night or this morning?” she asked.

“No, didn’t see or hear anything all night.”

“And where is Ari? Does he need to eat? Elle wasn’t quite sure what to think about Ari.

“Ari has already eaten. He came and checked in with me earlier.” He glanced at her while he ate his soup. “I’m sure you have questions about us.”

“That’s an understatement. I see him change from a wolf to something that glows gold and then a human. How can he do that?” She finished her soup and stared him in the eye to see his reaction. “Can you do that?”

He eased closer to her and grinned. “I can do a lot of things. When I drop my human essence, I appear as a golden being like Ari. He is part of my family, my guardian, and has watched over me since I was small.” He spoke softly. “I am human like you and you’re biological parents, also descendants from the Lemurian Star Children.”

“You are human, like me?” Once again, relief spread to every corner of her mind. And to think all this time she was worried he could turn into some kind of scary monster when and if they made love. At least a golden being was better than something scary.

“Yes, like you. My people use more of their brain power than the people on Earth. That’s the main difference.”

“What is your planet like? Do you live in houses like us, drive cars, sleep in beds, and have families? There are so many things I want to know.” She wanted to know everything at once.

He sat beside her, finished with his meal. “We don’t eat food like your people. Our society is fast-paced. We don’t take time for sit-down meals of any kind. We take pills and shots to avoid eating.” He shook his head. “Productivity is highly overrated on my world and the food doesn’t taste like yours. Somehow, I think we missed the mark on this one.”

He grinned. “I enjoy eating real food. The smells and tastes make eating very enjoyable.” He ran a hand through his hair. “I wish I had some more of those chocolate bars from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.” A wistful gleam came into his eyes as he smiled.

Her heart went out to him. He had missed out on so much. “When we get back home, I’ll buy you a case of them.” She reached out and held his hand. “Go on, tell me more.” She couldn’t imagine not being able to eat. Sure, when she was busy at work she could see how taking a pill instead of stopping for a quick bite would help her get more customers finished. Maybe it would increase her paycheck at the end of the day, but it would never be her lifestyle preference.

“On my planet, things are quite differe
nt. There are no diseases or illness. We live in a healthy environment, virus-free.” He glanced into her eyes.

“With no illness, do you live forever?”

“No, our bodies wear out like yours. Our lifespan is somewhat longer, but we die of natural causes.”

“Oh, I see. But what about children?” His lifestyle, living in a disease-free environment, sounded like paradise.

“We have families, but we create our children in laboratories. Childbirth is obsolete.” He grinned. “When the time is right, the couple goes into a clinic and picks the color of eyes, hair, and sex of their child.” He watched her reaction. “It may seem too clinical to you, but there are no risks for the mother or baby. Everything is done in a safe environment.”

“You mean to tell me you’ve never made love?” She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Here he is, the most fabulous man from Mars, her own Starman and he’s a virgin.

“Not the way you mean. It’s different on our world, much different. We don’t let emotions get in the way. Emotion causes violence, war, etc., and we take a pill to avoid such problems. That way we can always be logical with our decisions. When conditions are right we drink a love potion. Then we feel the same sensations over creating a child as you, without the messiness.”

“But I know you have emotions. I’ve seen and experienced your feelings. How do you explain that?”

“Since, I’ve been on Earth I haven’t taken the pill.” He smiled. “I wanted to experience everything first-hand on Earth and blend in with your people.”

“I’m here to tell you that your people are missing out on something special.” She blushed to the roots of her blonde hair, but he needed to know the truth. Not that she had been with that many men but the idea of never touching another person, never making love was almost too much for her to understand. “Sex is a beautiful thing with someone you love.”

He gazed into her eyes. All she wanted to do was kiss him. Was he reading her mind? I dare you. She didn’t have to be psychic to know what he was thinking. She leaned into the haunting call of his lips and tasted the flavor of chicken noodle soup. She moved closer, putting her body close to his. No matter what else was happening, she wanted him. Wanted to touch every part of his body and make him feel things that he hadn’t experienced on Mars. She wanted him to know what it was like to have her make love to him. Stranded in this foreign place, she mingled her lips and tongue with his, kissing without urgency. She was lost to the moment. Together they would make the most of this dreadful planet.

  Chapter Fifteen

“Let me show you how we do it on Earth.” Throwing her insecurities to the side, Elle moved over to the sleeping pad. “Get in here with me,” she ordered.

He slipped into the sleeping pad and held her close.

She snuggled into the warmth of Kole’s strong arms and looked into his eyes and wanted to lose herself in the sensation forever.

He leaned his head down and kissed her on the mouth. “Will you get with child?”

“No, there’s nothing to worry about. I’m on the pill.” He deepened the kiss and took charge. Lifting his head, he nibbled on her ear. “Well, in that case, you belong to me for the pleasure and I to you. Do as you will.”

Knowing this was all new for him, she felt kind of wicked for initiating him in the process of lovemaking, but it was oh-so good. She had never felt so wanton as she brushed her hands down his chest and played with the buttons removing his shirt. She wanted to be skin to skin.

His large hand took her face and held it gently. “There’s no rush, little one.” A brief shiver of awareness rippled through her. He was right. His closeness was so male, so bracing. His broad shoulders and strong arms made her feel safe and protected against anything that was to come. She was drugged by his clean and manly scent. Her heart was thundering in her chest, hammering foolishly. She felt her pulse beat in her throat. They literally shared an intense mental and physical awareness of each other as he rubbed his hand up and down her spine underneath her shirt. He pulled it over her head and played with the lace on her purple bra.

“It’s beautiful, like you. Your skin is so soft.” He eased the lacy cup of the bra aside and feasted on her with his eyes. His hands explored the soft lines of her waist, her hips, her back and shoulders. Tentatively, he undressed her slowly, worshipfully. The shapely beauty of her naked body taunted him. In wonder, his hand lightly touched her hardening nipples.

Currents of desire shot through her from his gentle massage. The thrill of frightened anticipation touched her spine, her heart hammered against her ribs. A hot ache grew in her lower regions while he implored her with his eyes. With one hand on the small of her back, his other arm encircled her. She was thoroughly enjoying Kole. Her skin tingled everywhere he touched her. The mere touch of his fingertips sent a warming shiver through her. She couldn’t take much more of this.

Softly his voice fanned her face. “We have to stop.” His lips seared a kiss down her neck. “I’m sorry, I should have known better.”

“What?” With a burning desire and aching need for more of his kisses, she couldn’t have heard him right.

“We’re going to have company and soon.” He pushed away from her. “We’ll finish this another time when we won’t be disturbed.” He left her side.

When he abruptly slid out of the sleeping pad, her senses reeled and spun as if short circuited. The cold air chilled her skin. “What’s wrong?” she asked. When he moved away her heart became heavy. An emptiness filled her chest and her limbs felt as if bags of wet sand had been attached to them.

“Here, get dressed and quickly.” He tossed her blouse toward her. “My father is almost here,” he croaked.

Your father? She snapped out of her trance and buttoned her shirt. Then she climbed out of the sleeping pad and tugged on her jeans. “Your father? How can that be?” Her body ached with frustration as she pulled her clothes into place.

“He’s here.” A golden aura filled the cavern. Elle watched in wonder as Kole reached for and held her hand.

An image shimmered and solidified before them. Two tall golden beings stood beside an older more distinguished human version of Kole.

“Son, you are unharmed. I am thankful.” His magnetic blue eyes filled with the wisdom of the ages as he took in their rumpled appearance.

Kole bowed to him. “Yes, your Highness, we survived the crash landing.”

Elle blushed to the roots of her blonde hair, knowing without her psychic power, that he knew exactly what they had been doing just moments ago.

“Starseed of the Ancient One, I am honored to meet you.” He held his hand out to her and glanced toward Kole. “Son, it’s time to leave this place.” He waved his arm around the cavern and reached for her hand.

She was afraid, but there was incredible kindness shimmering in his wise blue gaze so she put her hand in his.

“Come with me. You will sleep now.”

An inner peace filled her at the touch of his hand against her fingers. “You need your rest on the journey,” he said.

“I don’t want to sleep. What journey?”

Kole whispered in her mind that everything was going to be all right. As he held her other hand, she could feel her bones melt into nothingness.

  * * *

A short time later Elle found herself standing in the highly polished marble entryway of a white palace by the sea, renewed and refreshed, dressed in a long flowing white gown with golden threads running through it. She touched the silky material with her fingers to see if she was really awake. Where am I? What happened to me?

She glanced up to see that Kole stood next to her wearing some kind of skin-tight black uniform with a golden five-pointed star on his belt. It looked military. It also reminded her of the first time she had seen him on the starship. Three glowing yellow moons hung in the flawless night sky behind him. The salty sea breeze tickled her skin as Kole reached for her hand. She sighed deeply, realizing her vision had come to
pass. Together, they stood in the moon-lit doorway.

How could this be? They had just been in the cave with the Ant People and about to make love. And now here she was beside Kole on yet, another planet. Things sure happen fast when I travel with aliens. They stood outside two twelve foot mahogany doors with mysterious carvings. They must grow them big on this planet.

A glittering city of light lay far below with towering spheres, triangle shaped buildings and small hovercraft type vehicles soaring through the night sky. A feeling deep in her gut, her sixth sense, or whatever you wanted to call it, told her once she went through those doors her life as she had known it would be forever changed. Was she ready for that?

She had helped Kole find hidden treasures of the universe in the caves, traveled through the stars and experienced advanced space travel and now this. Her life had lead up to this moment.

“Elle, you are the Chosen One.” Kole squeezed her hand. “It is time to face your destiny.”

“The Chosen One?” She frowned. Chosen for what? “What does that mean?”

“Many things.” He smiled. “You will soon know all there is to know.”

“Who or what is in there?” Her heart beat rapidly with anticipation of what was beyond that door.

“Only my father. These are his chambers. Please address him as Your Highness. He is our king.

She stared at Kole. “Does this mean that you’re a prince?”

“Yes.” He smiled. “Come with me.”

She stood tall, facing the adventure unafraid, alongside her very own prince. Now that was almost too funny for words. Who would’ve thought she, the small-town hairstylist would be on another world with a prince. If only Liz could see her now. Yet, here she was and it was true, she wasn’t frightened. Underneath everything, she knew she was safe, no harm would come to her. She held his hand and followed him through the doorway and into the sparkling palace anxious to find out what this all meant.
