MALAKEI SAT at his desk, finishing up a couple of documents for Peter. They’d found a couple of other bands to work with, and though he liked them, they weren’t as exciting as High Stakes.

That’s because Seth isn’t their lead singer!

No matter how much he tried to forget Seth or tell himself this was all for the band’s good, Malakei couldn’t stop thinking of him. It didn’t matter that Seth yelled at him or that he barely said anything in the morning when they saw each other.

Malakei wanted Seth increasingly with each passing day.

Time was definitely not on their side.

Just as he closed the last folder, his phone buzzed on his hip. An unlisted phone number popped up and he frowned. He wasn’t sure who’d gotten his personal cell phone number, but they’d been calling several times for the last three days.

“Malakei?” Lena popped her head in.

  “Yes?”

“Is it okay that I take off a little early? I’m going out to dinner with Philip.”

“Sure. Have fun and tell him I said hello.” Malakei smiled at her.

“I will. Thanks, boss. I’ll see you on Monday.”

Malakei nodded and watched her close the door. He figured it was time for him to leave too. Not that he had anything more than his warm sweats and a milkshake waiting for him, but, still, it was the weekend. Time for some R&R.

After filing away the last couple of contracts, Malakei stood up straight and stretched. He grabbed his satchel and placed it over his shoulder.

A knock sounded at his door.

  “Yes?”

  “Malakei, it’s me, Seth.”

  “Come in.”

Seth walked in, looking unsure. In his mind, it didn’t deter how sexy he was in the least.

  “What’s up?”

Seth pushed his hands in his pockets. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I was out of line.”

“No, I think you were right. I should have talked with you beforehand about Donny. I sent him an email to be on standby if you guys needed him.”

Seth made a face. “Look, Malakei, you know more than us, and I shouldn’t be stopping you from doing this. I know you got our backs. I just….”

“Want to do things on your own.”

“I want you to include us, that’s all.”

Malakei shrugged. “Duly noted. Anything else?”

Seth closed the door, then ambled to the spot in front of his desk. “You remember what I said?”

  “Which part?”

Seth planted both hands firmly on the tabletop. “About unleashing on you. I’ve lost my patience, man. I can’t leave here without knowing we got a shot.”

Malakei chewed on the inside of his cheek and adjusted the strap on his shoulder. “We might, maybe after High Stakes takes off.”

“I can’t wait that long, Malakei! That night we shared, when I was on top of you, grinding and jerking you off until you came, has been on loop in my brain, man. I can’t get it out of my head. Can’t get you out.”

Malakei bowed his head in agreement. “I haven’t stopped thinking of it either.”

“Then we both know what we gotta do, right?” Seth stepped around and stood in front of him.

Malakei fought hard to not grab the man by his hair and throw him across the desk to have his way with him. Just looking at Seth had his dick hard and pulsing in his slacks. “Seth.”

“Don’t.” Seth put his hand up. “Look, I dunno what I gotta do or how I’m gonna do it, but I will wake up fuckin’ you every mornin’, you got me?” Seth eyed him, looking for a reaction.

  Malakei cocked an eyebrow. “I….”

Seth didn’t wait for him to respond. He hastily grabbed Malakei by his collar. He yanked him in and covered Malakei’s lips with his own.

Malakei grunted when their mouths crashed together. He was helpless, fully caught up in this man’s charm and his forcefulness. Damn did he have strength in those wiry arms, and Malakei wished to be in them the whole night.

A war raged inside his head. Everything he’d done, said to Seth, Peter, Barry, Sheena, his parents, came flooding back. He couldn’t do this. He couldn’t risk his privacy, his piece of mind, and, more importantly, Seth’s career because he was horny. Pull back. Resist!

Though his brain shouted those words, Malakei couldn’t do a thing. He fell into that trap and had no desire to get out. He wrapped his arms around Seth’s waist and held him close, reciprocating the same passion Seth gave him. There was no place he would rather be than here.

Their tongues tangled in a wild embrace, fighting for dominance. Bodies pressed together hard. Wanting. Needing one another. There was no mistaking how Malakei felt about Seth. For the exception of that one night, he’d been holding it all back. Now he didn’t have the strength to.

Even more, he didn’t want to push him away. Instead, he continued the oral assault on Seth’s lips, sucking, languishing in his mouth. The taste of nicotine and coffee was on his tongue. At this moment it was better than any milkshake Malakei ever had. Sweet, with a tad of tang.

Thoroughly out of breath, Malakei pulled away, staring at Seth. He eyed the man’s swollen lips and gorgeous blue eyes, wide as saucers. Seth was huffing and his mouth agape from the embrace they’d just shared.

“Fuck, Malakei. Tell me you felt all that.”

“I… I did. It was incredible.”

“I wanna feel it again. It felt like I was crowd surfing. Thrown in the air and having hands all over me. Euphoric, you know?”

Malakei nodded in agreement. “Yes. It was… damn good. Um….” Malakei ran his hand over his head. “What are you up to tonight?”

“Nothing. I was gonna call my mom, see how things are, then settle in with my best friend as of late.”

Malakei made a face, already jealous of the friend. Was he talking about Morty or Gio? They were straight, but Seth had the kind of gravitational pull that could turn anyone’s head. “Who is that?”

“Jack Daniel’s, of course. I don’t drink the whole bottle, but I’ve been throwing a couple back before bed.”

Malakei shook his head and sighed in relief. “Well, there’s a change of plans tonight. You can still call Mom, but do it on the way.”

  “To where?”

Malakei softly caressed the side of Seth’s face. “To my condo, for dinner, and maybe a little more if you’re up for it.”

Seth smiled wide and ran his hands around Malakei’s neck to reach his nape. “I’m up for anything with you, Malakei. Absolutely anything.”

Malakei grinned and fought off the urge to tackle Seth. He leaned in and pressed a light kiss to his temple. “Good, because we’ve got the whole weekend ahead of us.”

  Chapter Nineteen

AFTER SETH and Malakei untangled from one another, Seth called his mother as he’d promised. When Malakei wouldn’t stop playing with him, he pushed him out of his own office, so he could see how things were back home. Thankfully, things were good on her end. His cousin was staying with her to keep her company, which put Seth’s mind at ease.

Once he finished, Seth walked out of the office and found Malakei sitting at Lena’s desk, playing around with her pens.

  “You bored?”

Malakei flashed him a loopy smile. “I’m hungry and ready to go. Are you?”

“I hunger, more so for you than any sustenance on earth.” Seth spoke in a more mature English voice. He leaned down and softly pressed his lips against Malakei’s. “What did you have in mind?”

“What do you like to put in your mouth that isn’t nicotine?”

Seth grinned. “Other than you? I love Italian, Chinese….”

  “Sushi?”

“Fuck yeah, I love it. You know a good restaurant?”

“I know of several, and we can stop on the way. How’s that sound?”

“Fantastic.” Seth wrapped both arms around Malakei’s neck and inched into him. He inhaled sharply, taking in those familiar scents he’d
gotten so used to. The ones he loved more than breathing.

I’m fucked. Seth knew he was, but now that Malakei was responding to him, he wouldn’t worry about it.

Malakei moaned and clutched at Seth’s arms, pushing him away. “Argh. Let’s go now and grab food. I need to eat and so do you.”

“I had a bite at lunch.” Seth planted a wet sloppy kiss on his mouth, then straightened up and stretched his arms over his head.

  Malakei inhaled sharply.

  “What?”

  “I…. Seth. Do you ever—”

“Wear underwear? No. Always and forever, commando.”

Malakei nodded, nibbling his lip. “You’re such a bad boy. How on earth will I keep all the fangirls and boys away from you? I’ll have to hire extra security.”

Seth chuckled. “Nah, I’ll be good. They can touch me all they want, but it won’t change how I feel about you, man. Never will.”

Malakei smiled and pulled his hand in, kissing his ringed finger. “Hey, if we’re doing this—”

“Are we, Malakei? Are we really doing this, or are you setting me up for a fall? ’Cause if you are, let me go back to the stinky suite I’m sharing with my bandmate.”

Malakei eyed him and bowed his head. “We are doing this, Seth, because… I’m crazy about you. I wouldn’t call it love, but man… I don’t know. You got me. I mean really got me.”

Seth smiled and bobbed his head to the beat in his brain. “You got me, so close to you, in our arms, forever, you got me, you got me,” Seth sang.

Malakei grinned, hearing Seth recite his hit from three years ago. “Yes, you do. Big-time. And because of that, you’re gonna call me by what my other close friends and family call me. Kei.”

“Kei. I love it. It’ll be one of my many pet names for you. Or Prophet. I loved that video you did two years ago, ‘Prophet is my Name.’” Seth sung the chorus and snapped his fingers with his free hand.

“Wow, you’ve got some pipes on you. You sure you don’t want to be the next Justin Bieber?”

Seth grimaced. “I’d rather choke on a ham sandwich, mate. Just because I’m gay don’t mean I’m a tart.” He smirked. “I like a good melody, and when my mom could get me to church when I was a babby, I sang in the choir.”

“Did you? Well, that explains it, then. You are indeed multitalented.”

Seth inched close to Malakei and ran his fingertip along his sharp jawline. “I gots more talent than you’ve ever seen, Kei. I can’t wait to show it all to you.”

In a matter of moments, Seth and Malakei went down to the parking garage underneath. They walked a few steps and stopped in front of a fancy car Seth had only seen in the movies.

“Fucking wow. Look at this.” Seth ran his free hand through his hair. “She is beautiful.”

“No, he. This is my personal fave Porsche. I named it Micah.”

“Micah? For a car? Not Bone Crusher or Drag Racer?”

Malakei laughed. “No. Micah was a friend who went off to war. Sadly, he didn’t return home.”

Seth gulped hard and ran his fingers through his hair. “’M sorry, Kei. I didn’t mean to make light of it.”

“It’s okay. You didn’t know. Anyway, Micah has been with me three years. He’s a Porsche Panamera, fully loaded. Maybe when you get used to the other side of the road, I’ll let you drive him.”

“Fucking A!” Seth pulled the handle and placed his guitar in back. Then he sat on the seat and sighed when the cool leather touched parts of his back.

Malakei flashed him a wry grin, and in seconds they backed up and slowly took off. They rounded a couple of corners; then once the car was in the clear, Malakei shifted gears, making the car pick up speed.

Seth held on to the armrest and door handle. “Show-off.”

  “Gotta be, for you, right?”

“You don’t have to be anything but yourself, Kei. I’m already well impressed enough.”

MALAKEI WAS excited to get Seth to his place. He craved Seth in the worst way, and despite everything he’d said, he wouldn’t leave Seth be, not with the feelings swirling around in his mind and heart. Seth had Malakei in so many ways, and as Seth had threatened a week earlier, Malakei was ready to unleash on him.

Once they got dinner, Malakei sped home, running nearly every red light along the way. He’d done it twice with his Porsche, but the police were always kind enough to let him go. After he dropped the keys with the valet, Malakei led Seth into his building. They dashed to his private elevator and ran into it like a couple of children.

“Whew. My life flashed before my eyes a couple times there.” Seth grabbed the spot over his heart.

“Nah. I didn’t go that fast.”

“Dude! I think the limit on the streets is, what, forty?”

“Thirty, actually.” Malakei smiled. “I need to take Micah out to a track. There’s one I race on just for fun.”

“Really? Now that’s gotta be quite nice.” Seth inched in close to him. “It’s too bad this is an express ride. We could do the thing they talk about in the Aerosmith song.”

“Uh-uh. I know all the guys in security. Don’t wanna give them a show.”

“But if you’re in the mood, would you?”

“If I could cover up the cameras, sure.” Malakei shifted and looked straight ahead, gripping the bags tightly. Any moment now and he’d lose it. Seth was testing him, and he could barely control his urge to kiss him. If they started, there would be no turning back.

“Remind me to find the cam next time, then.”

Malakei exhaled as he watched Seth, and ambled out of the elevator, then headed left. He fished his keys out of his pocket and pushed the right one in to unlock the door. Malakei waved him inside.

“Ah this place. Good to see again without an audience,” Seth said on the way in.

“Mhmm. You remember where the kitchen is?”

“Of course. And I also remember you didn’t tell us where your bedroom was.”

Malakei trailed him and placed the bags on the island. “Why would I do that? I mean, should I have shown all of you where I sleep?”

  “And get off, right?”

  “Uh—”

“Yeah, you do. You sit there and jerk off? I know I do. I keep extra sheets in my closet just in case things get a little messy, if you know what I mean.” Seth gripped the small fuzz on his chin.

Malakei shook his head, not believing that Seth was so forward with that information. “You are….”

“I’m something, but also real. We all get our jollies off, you know? It’s healthy to do that, especially when you don’t have a man.”

“Right, and when you do?” Malakei eyed him closely.

“Even better when it’s two people. I plan on doing a lot of that with you. I hope you got plenty of sheets.” Seth grinned.

Malakei shuddered at the thought, knowing his favorite thousand-count sheets would be in a lot of trouble with Seth around. Not that it mattered because they could always be replaced. Seth was one of a kind. Unique and irreplaceable, which was one reason Malakei invited him to his home. Malakei hadn’t found someone that made him laugh, lose control, and infuriate him within a twenty-four-hour span. Made things in his boring life a lot more interesting.

  “Kei?”

Seth’s voice woke him from his lusty fog. “Oh I heard. I have plenty of bedsheets. I’ll change them myself instead of having Esese do it.”

  “Who?”

“Esese is my maid. She’s wonderful. I pay her to come in a couple times a week to do the deep cleaning I don’t have time to.”

“Ah, of course.” Seth smiled and ambled closer to Malakei.

Scents of Camels and caramel latte found Malakei’s nostrils. He licked his lips.

  “Are we eating in here?”

“No. Let’s go to the living room.” Malakei clutched the bags again.

“By the window? That view is…. Gods, it’s lovely.”

  “Sure, whatever you want.”

“Whatever I want? Ah, Kei, you might want to take that back.”

“Nah, I mean it. Whatever… you… want.” Malakei inched in and traced Seth’s lips with his tongue. “C’mon, I’m starved. The faster we eat, the quicker we can entertain one another.”

“Is that what you call it?” Seth spun around and chuckled as he walked out.

“Yes. For now that’s what we’re doing, right?”

“For now, yeah. Gods, Kei, just say you want to fuck me. Stop being so damn formal. It really is okay to curse, you know.”

Malakei removed his coat and placed it on the back of the chair. “I know, but…. Mom and Dad’s words have always stuck with me. They don’t tolerate any swearing around them. Even when I’m with friends or in the studio, I don’t do it.”

“Gah, I need to break you of that.” Seth laughed.

“I’ve cursed before.” Malakei carried the food to the spot in the center of the set of windows.

“Yeah, I heard it during our pool game. You know, the one I beat you four games to one.”

“I’ll get you good next time, don’t you worry. We got a rematch coming for sure.” Malakei pulled out the trays and chopsticks.

“We do, and don’t be surprised if I beat the pants off you again.”

After enjoying their meal, Malakei and Seth moved to the couch closest to the windows. The lights were dim, music from the iPod dock filled the room, and both had a couple of drinks. Malakei drank two small glasses of wine while Seth had his favorite beer. Malakei had loosened his tie while Seth unbuttoned his jeans and discarded his boots along with his socks. While they chatted about music, they shared a couple of kisses, making it hard for Malakei to concentrate on anything else. He desired to get closer, but he wished Seth would take the lead, much like he’d done before.

“So, tell me more about the Seth I don’t know,” Malakei asked him.

Seth snorted. “There isn’t much else. I love playing rock and roll. I’ve never wanted to do much else.”

“That’s understandable. Did you teach yourself how to play guitar?”

“Yeah. My mom couldn’t afford lessons. After that wanker who calls himself my dad left, we couldn’t afford much of anything. I want to make this music thing work so I can take care of her and she can quit that useless job.”
