“Well said.” She spun the wheel and accelerated as they reached the main road.
“How do you feel about another demon in the mix?” he asked. Two demons so close to each other gave him a bad vibe. He was bound to encounter trouble with them. The thought of Emily being involved worried him more now.
“I don’t like it, but what can we do?”
“We continue the act and if we get the job, we figure out how I can kill her,” he said.
“So you’re not going to kill him too?” She briefly took her eyes off the road.
“He’s not my target. But if he becomes a problem, I will.”
“Do you think the powers that be would mind if you let him live?”
He balled his injured hands. Not knowing all the facts about demons and what to do when multiple ones were involved frustrated him to no end.
“I was told to destroy the one inked on my arm and that’s what I’m going to do,” he said. “This situation is complicated enough. I think we should stick to what I’ve been told. Keep it simple.”
“It’s your call. I’ll do whatever you want,” she said in a calm tone.
Her last few words stirred his erection. She could do anything for him? Oh, hell yes.
“Will you strip for me and let me roll my tongue down your body?” he asked.
She smiled. “Yeah. I’ll do that.”
He leaned closer, pressing his elbow onto the seat divider. “Will you let me lick you until you come with my tongue?”
She swallowed. “Yes.”
He envisioned her removing her clothes and standing naked in front of him. Her perky breasts with her ripe nipples would require his touch. He’d have to kiss them too. He’d push her onto the bed and then take his time licking his way from her lips to her breasts and on down to her sensitive southern jewel. His cock stiffened as he pictured her writhing under the caress of his tongue.
“Will you let make wild monkey love to you?” he asked.
A giggle slipped from her. “Can it be another night? I’m not sure I have the energy for wild monkey love.”
He straightened in his seat with a grin. “Honestly, I’m not sure I have the energy either. Do I have the strength to make love to you without the wildness? If you put your hand over my groin, you’ll find the answer.”
“Wild or not, I still love you,” she said.
His heart gained a beat. He could never tire of hearing her admit her devotion to him. “Say it again.”
She glimpsed at him. “I love you.”
Happiness filled him as he took a deep breath. Whatever challenges they still had to face, he held confidence they’d overcome them. Their love for each other would give them strength.
“I can’t wait to get back to the hotel,” he said. “I may be tired and sore, but I want to see you naked. I want to drag my tongue down your sweet body and into your wet folds. And after you’ve come from my kiss, I will make love to you.”
She gripped the wheel as the car accelerated. “I’ll hurry to get us back.”
Chapter Nine
Emily’s full bladder woke her from her sleep. She had her arm and leg draped over Andrew’s naked and warm body. Her head rested on his chest. It rose and then lowered with each breath he took. The beat of his heart was soft and soothing. His right hand held onto her forearm, keeping her locked to him. The room was dark except for the flicker of light coming from the television screen. One little move and she’d wake him, but she had to get up. Her bladder demanded it.
She lifted her head as she carefully shifted off to the side of him. He stirred in an instant, inhaling deeply. She planted a kiss on his shoulder before she crawled out of bed.
A quick glance at the clock on the nightstand revealed ten past four in the morning. After she’d stripped for him, they’d taken time to enjoy a long shower. Then they’d ended up tangled in the sheets. He’d kept his promises to her, kissing her body thoroughly before making love to her. Once they’d sated their desires, exhaustion had taken over.
She did her business in the bathroom and felt better with the pressure gone. Yawning, she returned to the king-size bed with her lover splayed on it. The sheet covered his groin and legs. She loved looking at his chiseled body. Better yet, she enjoyed touching and kissing it.
Instead of cuddling up to him, she stayed on her side of the mattress and pulled the sheet up. Although her eyes were tired, she doubted she could go back to sleep right away. Worry gnawed at her over the meeting they had later in the afternoon.
Andrew rolled over and moved his hand over the bed, searching for her. When he didn’t find her, he scooted closer until he touched her. He positioned his heated body next to hers. She twisted onto her side so he could hold onto her better, which he did. He always did. He wrapped his arm over her and cupped one of her breasts. She put her hand over his and he kissed her shoulder. His breath brushed over her as he returned to a peaceful sleep.
She gently caressed his hand with her thumb while her thoughts returned to meeting Christopher. He’d wanted her and Andrew to meet his associates. Without a doubt, he wanted to ask questions and his friends to do the same to get to know them. They’d passed the tryouts and had proven themselves. If they hadn’t, Christopher wouldn’t have invited them back. She suspected the lack of résumé had left him suspicious about them. Somehow, they needed to convince the demon they were quite capable of the two security positions.
“What’s wrong?” Andrew mumbled before he squeezed her tit.
“Just thinking.” She continued to rub his thumb.
“About what?”
“Our meeting later.”
He snuggled closer, keeping her hard pressed against him. The heat of his body warmed her more than any blanket. “What about it?”
“I think Christopher and his friends are going to want to know more about us, about our past. We need to be prepared.”
He inhaled deeply. “What do you think we should say?”
“You’re always saying be honest. I agree with that, but I think we need to change a few details.”
“Sounds fair.”
“I’ll say Carrie Reynolds grew up in Chicago. They already know a friend taught her how to shoot and defend herself. If they ask about growing up, I’ll say we were poor and troubled kids. My mom was a drug addict and my dad was an alcoholic. I didn’t go to college because I went to work for my friend, doing odd jobs for him.”
“How did we meet?”
“On one of my jobs. I got injured and needed stitches, so I went to the hospital and you took care of me. It was love at first sight and you had to get to know me.”
“Mm… Not too off from the truth.” His erection pressed against her and her ass twitched.
“I think you should say you were a nurse since you really were, and if they ask about injuries you’ve treated, you can provide good examples.”
“True. How did I get involved with your line of work?”
“You tried to talk me out of what I did for a living and since I said no, you decided to join me because you knew I got involved in dangerous activity. My friend and I helped train you.”
“How long have we been together?”
“I’d prefer not to give specifics, but if they pressure us, we met when I was twenty-one. We can say we’ve been working together for almost three years.”
“It’s a good story. I think we can convince them. But what if they pressure us about previous jobs?”
She sighed heavily. Although they’d said they couldn’t give names of their previous clients, Christopher could ask about the details of a job. They needed examples to satisfy his curiosity.
“Well, you said not all of our clients were Americans, so let’s say that one lived in Canada,” she said.
“A politician?”
“Yeah, he was up for re-election in the Legislative Assembly. He’d received threats and we worked with his detail to ensure his safety as he traveled. We could even say we detained a few people trying to
get close to him and we had to handle a few irate individuals.”
“You kicked some guy’s ass because he was trying to get past you.”
“Exactly.”
“How long did we work for this politician?” he asked.
“Nine months.”
“So that leaves two years and three months for other jobs.”
“We can say we worked for a celebrity for a month while she stayed in New York.”
“That’s a good one. We followed her into clubs and around the town. Let’s say she got in trouble and we tried to talk her out of it. She got caught and that’s why we can’t give her name out.”
Emily pressed his hand to her breast. “Clever. Let’s say she got caught for drugs and solicitation.”
“Deal.” He pecked her shoulder. “Who’s our next client?”
“Another celebrity in New Mexico. He was there for three months filming a show. He enjoyed women a bit much and like to take breaks to Vegas. We were his escorts.”
He gently pinched her nipple between his fingers. “And you had to fight a few women who thought they could steal from him or take photos with him.”
“Great idea.”
He squeezed her perky bud again and another zing of desire rushed through her, warming her insides. She shifted her leg and he moved his closer. If he moved his cock down a little, he could easily slip into her.
“I think we should say we had a client from Texas,” Andrew said. “A politician.”
“We traveled with him for almost a year and he liked to run his mouth. But he owned property and let us fire our guns.”
“That will work, but we shouldn’t say what part of Texas. We don’t want them going online and searching.”
“True. And we could say we had to go to Mexico once with him. We can’t say what for, only that it was a tense situation.”
He groped her breast again and kissed her shoulder. “I like it. Exciting work. But not as exciting as you are.” He gently bit her neck.
She let out a soft moan as heat wave spread within her. Damn the angel for stirring her hormones. She reached up and raked her nails over his scalp. Her touch gained an instant reaction to him. His cock swelled and he rubbed it against her.
“In case you haven’t noticed, you’re the reason for my excitement,” she said.
She moved her hand from his soft locks and took hold of his hand on her breast. She guided him to between her legs and he moaned.
“So wet and hot,” he said, slipping his digits into her wet folds.
He stroked her core while he pressed his steel shaft against her ass. Heart thumping faster and breaths coming quicker, she held his hand between her legs as she moved to get closer to his erection. To get him near her entrance. Finding the right position, he pushed and slid into her.
“God, I love you,” he said.
He pulled back and then pumped into her. Electrified by his touch and the way he filled her, she hungered for more. Their bodies took on a rhythm of their own, seeking to acquire ultimate satisfaction. He caressed her sensitive nub while he endeavored to drive deeper inside her. Her body was on fire as anticipation built. She reached up and ran her fingers through his hair again. He spooned her vigorously while she twisted for a kiss. His tongue mingled with hers and she whimpered ever so softly. This man was hers. She wanted him. She needed him. She’d fight to stay with him.
Her breaths became heavy as her release drew near. He pounded into her and fondled that dear spot between her legs. When her climax arrived, she sucked in air.
“Sweet heaven,” he said.
Bliss flowed through her with each pulse of her orgasm. He continued on his journey to claim his release, slipping in and out, deep and fast, again and again. His flesh slapped against hers. She moved her hand to his backside and dug her nails into him. Within seconds, his hot seed spilled into her and his thick shaft hammered inside her.
Groaning in a way that kept her hormones alive, he held her close while his erection continued to pulse. Her own had faded, but hadn’t died. The euphoria of it remained present.
“You’re heaven to me, Emily. I hope you know that.” His warm breath brushed over her skin, tickling her.
She twisted her head and pressed her lips to his. “And you are to me.”
She kissed him again before she rolled back to her side. He snuggled against her, keeping his cock buried inside her. He was right about heaven. It was about being together and sharing their love. Yes, he was her heaven.
Chapter Ten
“Remember, we’re not supposed to know Christopher is Annabelle’s father. We have to act surprised when we find out about working with her,” Emily said as she focused on driving up the hill.
“Good catch. I’d almost forgot we weren’t supposed to know about them,” Andrew said, sitting across from her.
“He didn’t provide his last name when he introduced himself. I’m guessing he wanted to wait until we met him for lunch, unless he prefers to wait until the last minute. Either way, we have to act as if we don’t know anything about him.”
“Got it. And by the way, you look nice. It’s been a while since you’ve had your hair down. And those tights look amazing on you.”
He’d watched her dress back at the hotel. The skin-tight black leggings hugged her ass. She’d donned a blue blouse with short frilly sleeves and a low ‘V’ neckline. Heels would’ve gone better with her outfit, but she’d opted for sandals.
She took a glimpse away from the road. “Thanks, I thought this would be better than wearing jeans or shorts. You cleaned up well too.”
Andrew looked down at his beige Bermuda shorts and orange short-sleeved button-down shirt. If he’d worn flip-flops or sandals, he would’ve looked like a surfer dude.
“Like you said, it’s better than jeans,” he said.
“You look fine. He said this was informal and we didn’t need to dress up.” She steered around a curve.
“Yet, we dressed better than we had the last two days.”
“Yeah, but we were also shooting guns and running an obstacle course. We’re not doing anything strenuous today. Plus, it’s good to show we don’t always go about in casual clothes.”
He couldn’t argue with her, especially when they were trying to impress Christopher enough to get the jobs. “I’m sure he or one of his associates will ask about my arm at some point.”
“Be sure to have your story ready.”
“I’ve decided to change it. I’m going to say our last client was the actor working in New Mexico. I’ll say we were in Vegas with him and ended up in a fight. A beer bottle cut my arm and I required stitches, which I handled myself with your help.”
“That sounds very believable.”
“We need to make sure we tell them the same details so they don’t catch us in any lie.’”
“Hopefully they won’t separate us. We work better when we can back each other up.”
“I’ve noticed that too.” Their ability to support each other so well reinforced his belief he was meant to be with her.
“If we stick to our stories, we’ll be fine. Just don’t give too many details.”
“Especially the intimate kind.”
“What?” Brows scrunched, she glanced at him. “What do you mean?”
“If they ask you how big my cock is, or if they ask me what position you like best, I think we should be vague.”
She shook her head. “If that demon asks me about your dick, then we have a problem.”
“I want us to be prepared.” He supplied a crooked grin.
“Yeah. Right.” She smirked.
He loved teasing her. She never got angry or upset. Instead, she played along with him. The smart and sexy woman sitting beside him couldn’t be more perfect for him.
She slowed the Jeep as they neared the main gate. “Okay, here we go.” She spun the wheel and pulled up to the box sticking up from the ground. “And if they ask me about your cock, I’ll tell them it’s very big an
d satisfying. No complaints.”
He chuckled as she lowered the window. Yep, he was madly in love with her.
She pressed the call button on the box and then waited for a response.
“Can I help you?” the male voice said.
“Carrie and Spencer Reynolds are here to have lunch with Christopher,” she said.
The barred gate squealed as it began to open.
“Take the road and turn at the first right. It will lead you toward the house. Circle around the fountain and park near it. I’ll meet you there.”
“Thanks,” she said before raising her window.
She accelerated past the gate. “I think that was Matt.”
“Sounded like him.”
She followed his directions and drove about a mile before reaching a large white house most people dream about. It had an orange tiled room, typical for California, and at least three levels. Small color plants and shrubs had been placed in front of the home. A mermaid fountain sat in the center of the driveway.
“Holy cow, that house is huge,” she said.
“How many bedrooms do you think it has?”
“At least six. I’m guessing.”
Emily circled the fountain as Matt had instructed. She parked a few feet to the side of it. Two SUVs sat idle further up and near the house. There was plenty of room between her vehicle and the others. Matt strode from the entrance of the house before they’d opened their doors.
“Glad you could make it,” Matt said, walking toward them.
“Would miss this,” Andrew said.
Emily walked in front of the car to meet him. He held his hand out for her and she took it.
“Are you two feeling better?” Matt asked as he came to a halt a few feet from them. “Yesterday had to take quite a toll on both of you.”
“We’re both a little sore, but we slept well,” Andrew said.
“Good. I hope you’re hungry because we have plenty of food. Follow me and I’ll take you to Christopher.” Matt turned and led the way to the house.
