"Well, I dare say we're doing a hell of a lot better than this lump," I said with a grin, gently elbowing Josh and making him groan.
He didn't even have the energy to defend himself. He just picked up his coffee cup and took a long sip of it, shooting me a glare over the rim of the glass. All I could do was grin in response, knowing he'd find some way to get back at me. But that was half the fun of having a best friend!
Carla patted him on the back, still grinning. "Oh, don't worry about him. He'll survive, eventually."
Oh yeah, she was definitely enjoying this. She was a bad, evil woman. I loved her. It was too bad we hadn't known her back in college! I could only imagine the mischief the four of us could've gotten into together back then. As it was, I'd have to make a point of coming out here to visit more often.
Just because we were supposed to be older and more mature now didn't mean we were dead! There was still plenty of time for mischief.
Then I caught Janine's eye and mentally chastised myself. I was supposed to be putting my mature foot forward today, wasn't I?
Drew seemed to be more on the ball than I was. "How's everything going with you, Janine? Still got a lot to do for the wedding?"
Janine gave a sort of half shrug, barely looking up at us over her cup. "A bit. It's all planned, at least. Now I just need to make sure everything is set up properly and everyone shows up when they need to."
"Well, if you need any help. Just let us know." Drew smiled at her as he took a sip of his own coffee that the waitress had just brought over. "We don't know shit about planning a wedding, but we're good at moving shit around!"
I nodded my agreement. "We don't have anything else planned, either." I put my arm around Josh's shoulders and squeezed him. "Other than keep this lump out of trouble!"
"Hey!" Josh protested, but everyone ignored him.
"Seriously though. Don't be afraid to call one of us if you need something. We're more than happy to help make sure everything goes off without a hitch." I hoped I didn't sound too desperate or lame.
God, had I ever second guessed myself like this before? I'd dated my fair share of girls over the years, but I couldn't ever remember feeling like such a bumbling fool before. There was something about this woman that had my brain going completely haywire. I really needed to get myself under control before I did something extremely stupid.
Thankfully, Carla carried most of the conversations throughout breakfast, so I didn't have to worry too much about making a complete ass out of myself. And as the morning went on, things became a lot less tense around the table. Drew and I were actually able to relax a bit as we spent more time with Janine. She was just a regular person, after all, and there wasn't any reason to be so nervous around her. Even if neither of us ended up getting a date with her, it wasn't like it was going to be the end of the world, even if my pounding heart thought it would be.
And after come coffee and food, Josh started to come back to life as well, slowly joining in on the conversation and adding his two sense. Every once in a while, Carla would babble really quickly and loudly, making Josh flinch and the rest of us laugh. Oh yeah, she was definitely a keeper all right.
I told him as much when the girls slipped off to the bathroom. "I don't know how you found her, but don't you dare let go."
"Yeah, she is amazing, isn't she?" Josh gaze dreamily in the direction the girls had gone. God, he really was hopelessly in love. "I'm a lucky man, even if I do feel like someone is driving an ice pick into my brain right now."
I patted him on the back, still grinning. I wasn't sure seeing him hungover was ever going to get old. "Well, that'll teach you to drink like you're still twenty-one. You're just lucky Carla finds it more amusing than anything."
Josh flinched and shook his head. Then, he took a deep breath and looked over at the two of us. "I don't get how the two of you are just fine. You guys drank just as much as I did!"
"Now you know how we've always felt!" Drew said with a laugh. "It's about time you felt what it was like to have a hangover!"
Josh flipped us both off, putting his hand down just in time as the girls slipped back into the booth.
"So, what's first on the list today?" Carla asked Janine.
Janine fixed her with a pointed look. "Well, you and Josh have your couples massage today. After that, it's completely up to you how the two of you would like to relax."
The way she looked at Carla left no room for argument. Janine had some skill if she was able to put a strong woman like Carla in her place. I wasn't sure if that said more about Janine's ferocity or Carla's respect for the other woman. Either way, it just made me ache to know her more.
"As for me," Janine went on, "I'll be getting the banquet hall set up. The tables and chairs and all should be here today, so I want to get them all put in place so I can make sure everything is spaced properly. I don't completely trust the measurements the hotel gave us or the app I used to plan the room. I'd rather see it all in person and have time to adjust things as needed."
"Want some help moving the tables around?" I asked, hopeful. It wasn't what I'd planned on spending the last couple days before the wedding doing, but if it meant spending the day with Janine, I'd be more than happy to carry tables all around the hotel if that was what she needed.
To my surprise, Janine actually looked happy at the suggestion. I guess she wasn't too keen on shuffling around tables and chairs by herself all day. "Sure, that'd be great."
Drew and I glanced at each other, both suppressing grins. It looked like things were finally starting to go our way. Breakfast had been good, but spending the day working with Janine would be even better. It'd give us a chance to show her that we could work hard without complaint.
At least, that would be the goal.
After breakfast, Janine ran up to her room to grab her laptop while we headed to the banquet hall that had been reserved for the wedding. The room was massive, it seemed, way bigger than I'd have ever expected to need for the wedding. It wasn't like Carla and Josh had invited hundreds of people, which is what the room looked like it would hold.
Janine was back in a flash, carrying a laptop bag and a key. She unlocked the storage room door at the back of the banquet hall and had the two of us start bringing out all the tables while she booted up her laptop and opened the seating arrangement she'd planned.
It was a damn good thing she was in charge of organizing the wedding and not us, since she was a hell of a lot better at it. There's no way I'd have thought to use an app to plan where each of the tables went ahead of time. I'd have probably just showed up and started putting out tables and hoping for the best.
As the day went on, I was starting to wonder if there was anything Janine couldn't do.
I really was hopeless....
Chapter 8
Drew
I'd never known there were so many ways to arrange tables. We started with Janine's original layout, dragging the tables out of storage and then aligning the chairs around them. But then she didn't like how close together everything felt when the chairs were pulled out, figuring there'd be people toppling over each other, especially the women in dresses.
So we had to move all the chairs out of the way, then rearrange the tables, then put all the chairs back. It felt like we ended up doing that a dozen times, though it was probably more like three or four times. It was something that should've taken an hour or two at most but instead took most of the day, with Janine giving orders like a drill sergeant.
Not that I was opposed to the way she behaved. If anything, it was a major turn on. Gone was the meek girl hiding behind her laptop. She was replaced by a no-nonsense boss. Janine knew what she wanted and was determined to see her vision come to life, come hell or high water.
She was a woman on a mission.
And fucking hell that was hot.
None of the women I'd ever been with had ever had the balls Janine did. I wasn't sure about Zack, but this was like a whole new world for me, taking order
s from a woman half my size who wasn't going to back down. I couldn't help but wonder if she was the same way in bed.
What would it be like, letting someone else be in control? I'd always been the dominant partner with any of the women I'd hooked up with. Would that change if I was with Janine? Or would she be that meek girl in bed and let me take charge of her?
To be completely honest, both scenarios were appealing. Whether she wanted to be the one in charge, even if she pulled out some whips and ties, I'd have been completely down for it. If she wanted me to tie her to the bed and have my way with her, I was down for that too.
I was down for pretty much anything that involved her.
Which is why I'd spent way too much time jacking off last night and this morning. I'd known full well that Zack was going at it in his own bed, the moans filling our room, but I didn't care. I couldn't get her out of my mind last night until I'd gotten off. And even after that, I still hadn't been able to stop thinking about her.
Spending all day with her certainly wasn't helping either. My cock never went below semi-hard the entire time we worked. It didn't matter how hard Janine worked us, my cock didn't seem to get the memo that this wasn't the time for shenanigans. At the rate we were going, I was definitely going to be beating off again tonight!
Hard cock or not, by the time we had the tables in the perfect spots, I was freaking exhausted. You wouldn't think it was that back-breaking of work, but it really was when you're constantly lifting and carrying things across a banquet hall.
Once the room was filled with the tables and chairs, it really didn't look all that big anymore. It was a good thing Janine knew what she was doing, since she managed to squeeze everything in there without making it seem claustrophobic. Even once you added all the people into the mix, there would still be room to maneuver without crawling over someone's lap.
Then we had to bring in boxes upon boxes of stuff to decorate the tables. Thankfully, we didn't have to do any of the decorating just yet. We just needed to open and sort everything, putting the proper stuff on each table. It was tiring, but at least it would make things easier when it did come time to decorate everything.
Something told me it would be the two of us decorating everything when it came time. Thankfully, that would at the very least wait until tonight, if not tomorrow.
A few times during the day, both Zack and I tried to talk to Janine, but she didn't seem the least bit interested in any conversation. She was all business, giving one and two word answers to anything that wasn't related to the wedding. I wasn't sure if it was because she didn't like us or if she was just focused on the task at hand that nothing else mattered right then.
Either way, it was a bit frustrating. I'd been hoping to get to know her better while we all worked together, but all I knew was how anal she was about planning things, which I'd already figured out based on her sitting in the bar with her laptop. This just helped reinforce everything I already knew.
By the time we were released from service, it was nearly dinner time. Zack and I were just heading up to the room when I got a text from Josh inviting the two of us to dinner with him. I showed the text to Zack and he sighed, leaning against the elevator wall.
"I guess we should go, huh?" He sighed again. "I was looking forward to a nap though. Guess I'll just have to settle for a shower instead. What time does he want us to meet him?"
I typed a response and waited. A few moments later, my phone ding. "He said around seven at the poolside grill."
"That sounds good. Gives us time to get cleaned up and sit down for a bit. After lugging chairs around, I'm looking forward to actually sitting on one for once."
I snorted as I texted Josh back, letting him know we'd be there. Because, like Zack, as much as I just wanted to go take a nap, I didn't want to pass up a chance to see him, without the three of us being drunk and having half naked girls in our faces. I was also looking forward to getting to know Carla a bit better, too.
Once we were back up in our room, I let Zack have the first shot at the shower. While he disappeared into the bathroom, I flopped down onto the bed, closing my eyes and letting out a sigh. That definitely hadn't been how I'd expected to spend my day. Sure, I'd wanted to help Janine out, but I'd expected a bit more friendliness and getting to know each other, not just running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
Mentally, I kicked myself for being disappointed. I'd been the one to volunteer to help. The only thing Janine had signed up for was setting up the banquet hall. It wasn't like we were on a date together or anything. I had no right to expect her to want to talk to me or anything like that.
And yet, I still couldn't help but feel disappointed.
I didn't regret helping out. After all, if Zack and I hadn't volunteered, she'd have been stuck moving all those tables around by herself. It'd take the two of us moving and her directing most of the day to get everything set up. If she'd been stuck doing it alone, she'd be down there until late into the night trying to get it all set up.
If anything, I was annoyed that no one else had volunteered to help. Had they all just expected Janine to do all the work for the wedding? I was sure Josh and Carla had offered, but the little I knew about Janine told me she wouldn't have let them. After all, at breakfast she'd basically glared at them and told them to spend the day resting and relaxing.
But still, weren't there other people here who could've helped? I know Josh had other groomsmen that were here. I didn't expect his father, who was also his best man, to help since he was well past his prime, but there were other guys who could've offered to lend her a hand.
It said a lot about Janine that she never once complained though. Even if she had been stuck doing it all alone, I doubt she'd have said a peep. She probably wouldn't have been happy, but she'd have done it all with a smile on her face, not letting Carla or Josh know how much work it had been.
Which just made stupid me fall more and more for her.
I was starting to feel more and more pathetic as I laid there staring at the inside of my eyelids. I shouldn't have been pining after a woman who didn't seem to want anything to do with me. Normally, I wouldn't have been either. Whenever any other woman had turned me down, I just shrugged it off and moved on. And yet, with Janine, I couldn't get my mind off of her.
When Zack finally emerged from the bathroom, steam billowing from the doorway behind him, I was thankful for something to do that wasn't just lying there thinking about Janine.
I quickly shuffled passed him and headed into the bathroom, closing the door behind me and leaning against it, taking deep breaths for a few moments. I needed to get Janine out of my mind, needed to spend some time thinking of anything besides her.
Dinner with Josh and Carla would give me something to do at least. Because if I stayed up in the room and took a nap like I wanted, I had no doubt my mind would've been on her the entire time. As it was, my cock still hadn't gone soft yet.
Worse, the moment I started undress, it started to plump up even more. By the time I was standing beneath the hot water, it was hard as a rock, begging for attention. I tried to ignore it, but no matter what I did, it wouldn't stop aching and throbbing. Finally, after I finished washing myself and it was just as hard as ever, I gave in.
Squirting a bit of shampoo into my palm, I took hold of it and started stroking. A moan slipped from my lips almost immediately. I took deep breaths, trying to keep myself under control, but once my eyes slid closed, all I could do was picture Janine, naked and on her knees in front of me in the shower.
It was wrong, to be constantly thinking of her like this, but I just couldn't stop myself. And right then, I was far too horny to try very hard at all. Instead, I found myself getting more and more into the fantasy, thrusting my hips and moaning as I imagined her mouth wrapped around my cock, taking its entire length without gagging.
My hand moved faster and faster as I tightened my grip around my cock. I was far too horny for this to last long at all. It didn't
matter that I'd jacked off just this morning and last night. Thinking about Janine had me right on edge. There was nothing I could do but grit my teeth and hold on as tight as I could.
"Oh yeah, suck my cock." My voice was hoarse and breathy as I continued to moan. "Yeah, Janine. Suck me."
In my mind, I could hear her moaning around my cock, whimpering softly as she neared her own climax, without even touching herself.
I'd have given my left nut for the chance to really get her off, to lay her down on my bed and bury my face between her legs until the entire hotel could hear her screaming. But since that didn't seem very likely, I focused on my fantasy instead, letting her pleasure me as my balls drew up tight against my body, my legs shaking and threatening to give way at any moment.
"Oh fuck," I groaned out, gritting my teeth and bracing myself against the shower wall with my free hand. I wasn't going to last much longer, not at this rate.
I'd thought I had another minute or two at max, but it turned out I only had maybe another thirty seconds before my moans echoed off the shower walls, my cock throbbing and spewing the first jets of cum into the water at my feet. I kept moaning and trying not to fall over as my entire body shook with pleasure.
"Shit, shit, shit," I gasped out. "Holy fucking shit."
When I finally came down from my high, I was sucking in deep lungfuls of breath, my legs still wobbling. That was one of the reasons I wasn't a fan of jacking off in the shower, since I always felt like I was going to topple over. But when I thought about Janine, it was even worse. It was like I was going to collapse and never get up.
Somehow, I managed to stay standing long enough to turn the shower off and step out onto the drying mat. After that, I had to brace myself against the sink and just take deep breaths until my body was back to normal.
