Down on My Knees
Page 8
“You look beautiful.”
“You can’t even see me.”
“Doesn’t matter. It’s you.” I kiss the top of her head, the scent of coconut filling my nostrils.
Giving a watery laugh, she steps back before looking up at me. I wipe my thumb across her cheek. “I take it back. You’re breathtaking.” Leaning down, I brush my lips across hers before she can utter a protest. “Take all the time you need. I have some trash to remove.”
Walking back down the hallway, I head toward the pool. Spying the little bitch wrapped around Adam like a damn vine, I stalk toward her, dodging floats and kids along the way. Grabbing Adam by the arm, I jerk my head to the right and move him away before I speak.
“You need to get that piece of work you brought with you out of here. Now.”
He looks down where my hand is wrapped around his arm before glaring at me, he says, “What the hell?”
“Do you know who she is?”
“Addy? Of course. I’ve been seeing her for a couple weeks.”
“And the fact that she’s Camryn’s sister?”
“Come again?” he asks
“Camryn’s sister. You know, the girl you were with for years.”
“Jesus, she never mentioned being related to Camryn.”
“And Camryn never mentioned a sister?”
“She rarely talked about anyone except her brother. I knew she had a sister, but that’s about it.”
“Well, let me tell you, Adam. I can’t believe the way your girl was talking to Red.”
“When?”
“I went in the house and overheard what she was saying. She told Camryn she was fucking you before y’all broke up and that you were talking shit about Camryn to her.”
“I sure as fuck didn’t! I just met this chick a couple months ago when I was in Houston.”
“You may need to check and see what kinda girl you’re spending your time with. And you need to get her outta here before Red comes back out.”
“I need to talk to Camryn. I never cheated on her.”
“Not now. It won’t help. You just need to get that poisonous bitch out of here.”
“Consider it done.” He claps me on the back. “And thanks for looking out for Camryn. We may not be together anymore, but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about her.”
Turning away from me, he moves back to a very pissed off Addy before taking hold of her arm and leading her to the side gate. She starts throwing a fit, and the curses coming out of her mouth would make a sailor blush. My respect for Adam goes up when he puts a shoulder in her belly, hoists her over his shoulder, and carries her scrawny ass out the gate, blonde hair waving like a flag behind her. I can’t help but smile at the cheer that goes up. Camryn wasn’t the only one ready for her to go.

I don’t want to leave this bathroom and go back outside to face my sister…or Isaac. The thought makes me sick to my stomach. I’m used to hearing that shit from my sister. I’ve heard it my whole life. But for Isaac to hear it? To find out how pathetic I am compared to my sister? That’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to me.
Splashing cool water on my face, I’m glad I wore waterproof mascara and don’t look like a trash panda. Damn it, why do I let her get to me after all these years? Is it too much to ask for her to leave me the hell alone? I moved hours away from home to get the hell away from her, but she still manages to pop up like a big zit in the middle of your forehead.
Knowing I can’t hide in the house for the rest of the night, I walk out toward the kitchen. Out the window, Isaac and Adam are talking over to the side while my sister stares them down. I don’t know what Isaac is saying, but from the pissed off look on Adam’s face, it isn’t a happy conversation. Adam claps Isaac on the back before stalking toward my sister and literally dragging her toward the side gate. I laugh when Mallory starts clapping as she leaves. Damn, I love her. At least I don’t have to face Addyson again tonight.
Hand trembling, I open the French door to the outside. Isaac clocks me as soon I cross the threshold. As our gaze’s lock, butterflies fill me. I walk to where Kristen and Mallory are standing. As soon as I arrive at their side, Kristen thrusts a frosty glass of margarita at me.
“I think you may need this.”
“You’re damn right I do,” I reply, taking a healthy swallow and shivering as the icy concoction runs down my throat. It’s going to be one of those nights.
The stars have come out and are twinkling against the blackened sky. Leaning back against the chaise lounge, I watch one of them blink blue, then red. Lord knows how long I tracked its path across the sky before I realized it wasn’t a star. A giggle slips out, and I slap my hand over my mouth, the movement causing me to spill what’s left in my glass.
“Camryn?” That deep voice washes over me, and I close my eyes. Isaac. I’ve avoided him most of the afternoon, but I guess my luck has run out. “Red, are you ready to head inside? Everyone else is going in.”
“Wh-h-hy not-t-t,” I slur out. Damn, how many of these glasses did I drink?
“Quite a few, I’m guessing.” He chuckles.
“Did I say that out loud?”
“Yeah, honey, you did.”
“Are you cutting me off?”
“I wouldn’t dream of it. Everyone else is going to bed, and I’m not leaving you alone out here. Especially if you’re still drinking.” Reaching over, he places his hand on my arm, the warmth radiating, making the rest of me cold.
“You’re so warm.” Rolling over, I wrap myself around his arm awkwardly.
“If you get into bed, you can be warm too.”
“Will you be in it with me?” I ask, looking up at his shadowed face.
“No, Red, as much as I’d like to, the next time I’m in your bed, you’re going to be sober.”
“Party pooper,” I respond, blowing a raspberry at him. He stands up with a laugh, causing me to lose contact with his arm.
“Come on, Red. I’ll make sure you get upstairs.” Leaning down, he grasps both of my arms, his hands easily wrapping around my biceps, and lifts me off the lounger.
“I forgot how strong you are.”
“I’ve been working out more. I don’t want to be the small one in the group.” He chuckles.
“There’s nothing small about you.”
“You’re damn right about that.” He laughs, and I blush when I realize what I just implied.
“You know what I mean.”
“Yeah, Red, I do. In the future, you’ll find out how true that statement is.”
“What statement?” I ask, confused.
“The big all over.”
“I already know that, don’t I?”
“If you can’t remember, it doesn’t count.”
Slowly leading me toward the door, we pass Kristen and Derek as they head to Derek’s place in the pool house. Jason and Mallory are standing to the side watching us with curiosity. Heading into the house, I detour to the bathroom before going any further.
“You need any help?” he asks, trailing me down the hallway.
“Peeing? You can’t do that for me, can you? ‘Cause that would be awesome. I don’t want to sit on the cold seat.”
“Sorry, Red, I can’t. You going to be okay in there by yourself?”
“Uh huh.”
Shutting the door, I use the granite countertop to keep myself steady. Sitting on the cold toilet seat, I let out a little yelp at the shock.
“You okay?” Isaac asks through the door.
“I’m fine. It was cold. You can go, though.”
“I’m making sure you get to bed.”
“Then move away from the door.”
“Why?”
“So you don’t hear me peeing!”
“It’s not that big of a deal, Red.”
“Yes, it is.” Do men not know anything?
“I’m not leaving.” Damn stubborn ass.
“Then make some noise. Sing or somethin
g.”
He mumbles something I can’t understand before he starts singing, his deep voice registering through the wooden door.
After taking care of business, I wash my hands before opening the door.
“I didn’t realize you could sing.”
“Just a little,” he replies with a wink.
“How come you don’t sing on any of your albums?” I ask as he directs me to the first room on the left.
“I do in the harmonies.”
“But you’re good enough to have a solo or something.”
“I’m glad you think so, but that’s never been what I wanted. I’m not a front man.”
Opening the door, he ushers me inside, and I plop down on the bed.
“Damn it.”
“What?” he asks, sliding off my flip flops. His hand rubs the ankle recently encased in plaster.
“My bag is in my car.”
“I’ll get it in the morning.”
“I don’t have anything to sleep in.”
“Sleep naked,” he says with a waggle of his brows.
“I can’t sleep naked!”
“Why not?”
“I’m a guest in someone’s home.”
“Ohh-kay?” He sounds confused, his brow arched and head tilted.
“What if they walk in? Or there’s a fire? I’d be…naked,” I whisper like it’s a dirty word.
“Hold on a second. I’ll get you one of my shirts to sleep in.” I feel more than hear him leave the room. Reaching back, I untie the string from around my neck, thankful I tied it in a bow instead of a knot.
“Here you go,” Isaac says, coming back into the room.
Sitting up, my top falls, and the cool air brushes my chest. My nipples draw so tight, they hurt.
“Jesus, you’re killing me,” he groans. Before I can respond, he sweeps the shirt over my head and pulls it down.
“How am I killing you?”
“Stand up and let’s pull the rest of it off,” he says, ignoring my question.
Pulling me up, he reaches under the shirt, rough hands skimming my sides until they rest on the underside of my breasts. His thumbs hook under the stretchy material, slowly pushing it down. Once he reaches my bottoms, he grips those too. Kneeling, he pushes them farther down my legs until they fall to the floor. His gaze lingers where his shirt ends high up on my thighs.
“Are you okay?” I ask the top of his head.
“I just thought of something,” he murmurs, the warmth of his breath caressing me through the thin cotton.
“What?”
“You’re not wearing any underwear,” he whispers, staring as if he can burn a hole through the shirt. Placing my hands on his broad shoulders, he leans forward until his forehead is resting against my lower stomach.
“Are you sure you don’t want to stay with me tonight?”
“I told you, Red. The next time I’m in bed with you, no alcohol will be involved. I want you to remember the next day.”
With a quick kiss on my tummy, he stands and walks out the door.
“Isaac?” I say before he shuts the door behind him.
“Yeah?”
“Good night.”
“Good night, Camryn. Have sweet dreams of me.”
Isaac
Leaving her in that fucking room alone was a killer. I just wanted to wrap her in my arms and never let go. She’s it for me, whether she knows it or not. When I pulled off her swimsuit, all I wanted to do was bury my face and lick her until she came. I still dream of the last time we were together, her taste still on my lips—just like I will again tonight. Stripping off my shorts and underwear, I climb under the covers. Turning off the light, I get comfortable and pray I can sleep with my redheaded angel in the next room.
Hair tickles over my thighs as a soft hand grips the base of my cock, stroking up and down the shaft. Lifting back the sheet, my eyes meet Camryn’s before she engulfs the head in her warm, wet mouth. One hand trails up my thigh, nails lightly scratching the skin. With each head bob, she takes more and more of my length, until my head bumps the back of her throat. Delving my hand into her hair, I thrust up, then pull her head back, knowing I’m close to blowing my load. She breaks the suction with an audible pop.
“Ride me, Red. I wanna come in that tight pussy.”
She crawls up my body until her knees are on either side of my hips. With one hand resting on my chest, she grips the base of my cock with the other, placing the head against her dripping entrance. Slow, so fucking slow, she lowers herself, until I’m buried deep, balls resting against her ass. My hands grip her hips, encouraging her to move. She rotates her hips in little circles, driving me mad.
Lifting my hips off the bed, I thrust, getting harder with each drive of my hips. Head thrown back, she digs her nails into my chest.
The sharp pain brings me out of sleep to a dream come to life. Stilling my hips, I stare up at Camryn in disbelief.
“Don’t stop, Isaac. Please!”
“Red, what the hell are you doing?”
“Please, Isaac, I’m so close. Please!” she begs, lust shining in her eyes.
“I’m going to hell,” I mutter before flipping her over onto her back.
Her legs curl tightly around my waist. Twisting my hand in her hair, her neck arches, forcing her to focus on me.
“Damn it, Camryn. What are you doing to me?” I plead with her.
She opens her mouth to speak as I thrust roughly into her, eliciting a low moan from deep inside. I take her hard, and she cries louder with each thrust. Burying my face in her neck, I pull her hair sharply and bite down on her neck. Her pussy clenches around me as her nails scrape down my shoulder blades, a scream erupting from those pouty lips. My cock explodes inside her, and I twitch with every spurt. Spent, I blanket her body with mine, head resting on her plump breast. Both of us pant, the air conditioning cooling the sweat coating my back. Knowing I’m crushing her, I roll to the side, hugging her against me. My hand strokes up and down her back as her breath fans across my chest until she relaxes against me in sleep. Staring up at the ceiling, I wonder if God is testing me, to see just how much I can take before he pulls it away. Next to me, Camryn shifts, her arm reaching across my chest, her thigh sandwiched between mine. Reaching down, I twine my fingers with hers, raising her hand to my lips and placing a soft kiss on the petal-soft skin, the smell of chlorine and coconut filling my nose. At this moment, life is perfect, and I wish it would last. Closing my eyes, I let the darkness take me. Instead of dreaming of her, I’ll hold her against me for as long as she’ll let me. If only it were forever.
Camryn
The light streaming through the window sears my retinas as I open my eyes. Vision blurry, I try to focus on what’s in front of me, but it’s just a haze of color. The heavy weight at my side holds me still against the warmth pressed against me.
Where the hell am I?
The bed shifts and Isaac’s masculine scent surrounds me. Oh…this is bad. Really, really bad. How did I even end up in bed with him? I faintly remember him turning me down, and I’m certain I went to bed alone…in a different room. Which means…he didn’t change his mind.
He sleeps soundly next to me, more serene in his sleep than I have ever seen him. I lift his arm enough for me to wiggle out from under it, and as soon as I’m clear, he flops onto his stomach with a soft grunt. Sitting on the side of the bed, I stay as still as possible to make sure he doesn’t wake up. My foot brushes against something soft on the floor. Reaching down for the rumpled black shirt, I slide off the side of the bed, landing on the floor with a thump. My eyes dart back to make sure he’s still sleeping before I scramble to grab the shirt and pull it over my head.
Isaac’s bag is sitting on the floor next to the bed, and I rummage through it, pull out a pair of boxer shorts, and lie on the floor to put them on, then crawl toward the door before internally scolding myself for being so stupid. Jesus, what the hell am I doing?
Standing up, I glance over my
shoulder at him lying there before I open the door for my walk of shame. As soon as I shut the door behind me, Jason and Mallory exit the room they obviously spent the night in together. Mallory has a thoroughly satisfied look on her face, and Jason looks like the cat that ate the canary. When Mallory’s gaze catches mine, her Cheshire grin gets even bigger, and my face heats.
“One night stand, huh? Looks like a repeat to me, Cam.” She chuckles.
“Oh my God. What the hell did I do?” Covering my face with my hands, I take a deep breath.
“I don’t know, but I hope you enjoyed it,” she says I pass by her to go into the room I was supposed to be in. “Probably too damn much,” I mutter to myself.
Shutting the door behind me, I head into the en-suite bathroom, turn the water on, then pull down the boxer shorts, noticing the dried stuff on the inside of my thighs.
Oh…fuck. As if my soreness between my legs wasn’t enough, his dried cum coating my thighs definitely tells me we had sex…and we didn’t use any protection.
Chill out, Cam! You’re on the shot. Okay, pregnancy is out. But what about STDs? He’s been around the block more than once. God, I hope he’s been more careful than last night. Be an adult, Cam. Just ask him. Climbing inside the fiberglass tub, I let the warm water wash away my worries for now.
Wrapping my towel around me, I walk out into the bedroom. My bag is sitting on my bed, and I know it wasn’t there when I came in. Glancing up, Isaac is leaning against the dresser looking so good in his tight forest green t-shirt and jean shorts, arms crossed over his chest. The sight of his muscular arms makes my hands itch to reach out and touch him. But the disappointed look on his face has me thinking twice.
“I didn’t expect you to run out on me this morning.”
“I…um, just wanted to let you sleep,” I say, unconvincingly.
“Well, that was awfully nice of you. Why don’t you get dressed and we’ll go get some breakfast.”
“I thought I smelled bacon earlier. Why don’t you go ahead and head to the kitchen? I’ll be down there in a minute,” I say, my tone hopeful.
