The Camden Cowboy Page 19

But then it went on to say so much more, to renew and rekindle, refresh and reawaken things in Lacey that she’d had to suppress for the last ten days in order to survive.

A kiss that reminded her of what she had with this man, of how much he stirred in her, of the fact that she only felt truly complete when she was with him.

Then he ended that kiss, stepped back and dipped a little. The next thing Lacey knew she was flung over one of those broad shoulders and watching his divine derriere from a very odd perspective while cool night air touched hers.

“Oh, this dress is short!” she screeched.

“I’ll say,” Seth agreed, patting her exposed rump as he sauntered around the pool to the main house, unlocked one set of the French doors and let them in.

He didn’t so much as pause to turn on a light, taking her to his bedroom where he unceremoniously deposited her onto his big bed and then joined her there.

Cowboy boots were the first to come off, but after that clothes flew, mouths came together and hands reacquainted themselves with tender flesh.

Desire and arousal ran rampant through Lacey with Seth’s every wondrous touch. Needs grew and made demands, and a hunger that had been simmering in her for ten days went to a full boil as she ran her own palms over that exquisitely masculine body that she could never have lived without.

They made wild, passionate love. Wild, passionate love that spoke of how much they’d missed it and each other, of all the glories yet to come for them in a lifetime of lovemaking.

Once their peaks had been reached, leaving them both sated and satiated and their reunion finally and firmly sealed, Seth collapsed with his back to the mattress and pulled Lacey to his side, offering his chest as her pillow, his arms as her blanket.

“I love you, Lacey,” he said, pressing another kiss into her hair.

“I love you, Seth,” she answered, kissing his chest.

“Will you come with me next weekend to Denver for my grandmother’s birthday? Can we announce our wedding then?”

“I’m at your disposal,” she said. “But is your family going to hate me for causing your need to be cheered up this weekend?”

“My family will see that you’ve made me the happiest guy on the planet and love you for it. The bigger problem might be getting us out of this bed in time to go…”

“You want to spend the next four days in bed?”

  “What a great idea!”

Lacey laughed, but in truth, the thought of spending four days in bed with him suited her just fine.

She said, “Get some sleep and we’ll talk about it. I might be persuaded to take tomorrow off….”

“Hmm… I’ll have to think of a way….” he muttered. She could tell he was already drifting off.

That was all right, though, because she was perfectly content to lie in his arms and just bask in what she’d found with him.

  A sense of home.

  Of things being right.

Of being exactly where she belonged.

And of finally, once and for all, discovering what she wanted for herself that didn’t have anything to do with her father or the Kincaid Corporation.

Finally, once and for all, discovering what she wanted for herself.

  And getting it.
