Talon is used to the crows following him around. He just hopes no one else notices. Then he meets Iris who claims she knows what he is. She talks with snakes, and she's convinced Talon can communicate with his crows. She calls their ability an Affinity, and believes it's a gift from God. Iris wants to use their gift to help people, but Talon doesn't know anything about communicating with the annoying black birds. They're just always there.
When Talon moves to Sacramento to work with his uncle, his new neighborhood becomes the target of thieves and he's the only suspect. Talon decides to test his ability and find the real culprits. What he discovers is something much more sinister than robberies.
Can he, along with Iris, and Chloe, the goth girl with her raccoons find out what really is going on, clear Talon's name and save someone in dire need?
