Nicole Kuhn for keeping us all on track. If you ever decide to explore a career in herding cats, you have a glowing recommendation from me! Tara Gonzalez and Amber Addison from Ink Slinger PR. All the bloggers and readers who dive into the words and the characters and love it as much as we do.

Deidre and Kristina for your always honest and, often times, humorous comments on my initial efforts. Kristy and Toni for beta-ing (is that a word?). Jessica, for helping me plot through my block and working me into your ridiculous editing schedule. You all help me be a better writer and learn from my many, many mistakes.

The Killion Group for fitting me in at the last minute.

To my family for your encouragement and support in everything I do.

And Team Titan - I hope I lived up to your expectations and did your boys proud.

  ABOUT TARINA

Tarina has spent her entire life in and around the military – first as a dependent and then as an enlisted Air Force member.

In 2015, a friend challenged her to complete NaNoWriMo so she dusted off one of the many stories she’d started over the years, threw it in the trash, and started all over.

Tarina’s debut novel, Stitched Up Heart, released in September 2016. She draws heavily from her own military experience to create authentic characters who deal with real challenges and manage to find love in the struggle.

Tarina is still active duty Air Force and a single mom of four-year-old twins. Her favorite hobby is sleep. She has delusions of retiring from the military and being a stay-at-home mom and full time writer.

As an Air Force medic, Bree Marks saw the worst the War on Terror had to dish out. Now a physical therapist, she uses her experience to help other veterans heal from their physical wounds; while she battles her own emotional damage.

Blaming himself for his best friend’s suicide, former Army Ranger Jase Larken, retreated from life. To honor his best friend’s memory and assuage his guilt, he started an outdoor adventure company to help veterans with PTSD.

Bree had better things to do than catch her cheating fiance in bed with another woman. Jase is something better - for a night at least. For the first time in years, Jase wanted more. When he finds her again, he doesn’t give her another chance to run.

Jase’s protectiveness grates on Bree’s independent nature. She’s dealt with her fair share of alpha-male, door kickers and doesn’t need one telling her what to do now. But as a new danger emerges, Bree and Jase must face their pasts, before someone’s obsession with Bree destroys any chance they have of a future.

  PRAISE FOR STITCHED UP HEART

“There was nothing about this book that I didn't love. Nothing I would change. I enjoyed every minute of this read. Tarina Deaton has an amazing writing style that really worked for me.” ~ Jessica’s Totally Over The Top Book Obsession.

“On more than one occasion I found tears streaming down my face from the grace and fluidity of the words Ms. Deaton wrote. I could feel every emotion she was trying to evoke with this story. Along with those tears there was laughter, frustration at these two and of course, the sizzling chemistry led to some squirming moments as well. This is a phenomenal debut novel.” ~ My Girlfriend’s Couch

“Full of amazing chemistry between relationships of all kinds, sharp wit, and true military grit, this is one book you have to have on your shelf. Romance fan or not, this story is a special case. It stands on its own and outshines others in the genre by a long mile.” ~ Deidre Huesmann, YA Author

“…[W]hat tugged at my heartstrings and made me cheer for the characters is their personalities and what makes them who they are. I really liked this story and would recommend it to anyone that likes a story of redemption and love. This is a wonderful first book and I cannot wait to see what else Tarina Deaton can put out.” ~ Amazon Reviewer

“Stitched Up Heart has reminded me of the reason we embrace potential new authors–because there is always the chance you’ll find a gem of an author like Tarina Denton.” ~ Edgy Reviews

The bedroom door rattled, followed by a knock.

“Hang on.” Bree squeezed her leg and answered the door, opening it a crack.

  “Everything okay?” Jase asked.

“Yeah. We just need a few minutes.”

  “Okay. Chris’s here.”

“Oh.” That word contained a wealth of questions Denise knew Bree would ask. “Okay. We’ll be out in a bit.”

Denise dropped back on the bed and stared at the ceiling. She heard the kiss and indistinct whispering before the door clicked closed.

Bree sat on the bed, one leg bent, and looked down at her. “I’m going to let you in on a secret.”

This should be good. Bree had become very philosophical since almost being killed by her deranged assistant. “What’s that?”

“When you care about someone, more than yourself, it makes you stronger.

Not likely. Denise turned her head. “I think that ship has sailed.”

Bree raised her eyebrows. “I was talking about the kids. Who were you thinking of?”

She stared back at the ceiling. “No one in particular.”

“Then what ship were you talking about? The S.S. Christopher Nolton, by chance?”

That deserved a glare. “You just kissed Jase. Who else was I supposed to think you meant?”

The stupid woman grinned at her, having no idea how close she was to having her head shaved while she slept.

“Your death glare doesn’t work on me.” Bree’s smile faded and her eyes lost their teasing light. “Kimber and Kaden. You love them. You will do anything for them, to protect them and keep them safe.”
