“What the fuck Bayleigh! Are you okay?” he said in fear. The way he repeatedly looked at me and toward the door, he thought something happened inside the door.
“Neakah’s in the hospital about to die!” I was able to gather my words in between whimpers.
“Get in the car,” he demanded.
I rushed to the passenger’s side and hopped in. As he was joining me in the car, I noticed he had stopped the pump at only twenty-three dollars. After questioning him about the rest of his gas, he replied, “Money ain’t shit to a life,” and sped out from the gas station parking lot.
Swerving through traffic at a speed of fifty-five miles-per-hour or maybe even higher, we reached the emergency entrance of the hospital’s parking lot. Ocho instructed me to run in after pulling up to the sliding glass doors, and he’d be in after he found a place to park. I nodded before shooting from the passenger’s seat while the car kept a light roll.
After shooting to the desk and confirming what room Neakah was in, I chose to take the stairs to the third floor. The elevator wasn’t going to move fast enough for me. I needed to see her. I was at the floor and ran as fast as I could, scanning the room numbers as I passed.
Finally, I reached the door and welcomed myself in. To my vision, the doctor that had given Neakah his phone number after I get discharged, sat on the hospital’s sofa. With tears in his eyes, he looked directly at me.
“I tried to save her,” was all he was able to get out of through his cracked speech.
Slowly, I took my eyes from him and moved them toward the hospital bed. Lifelessly, Neakah laid with machines hooked up to her. Her pale skin had a light blue tone, and her eyes were stamped shut. I could tell, the only thing keeping her alive was the oxygen machine she was hooked up to.
“Nooooo!” I screamed the loudest, before Ocho rushed in the room and caught me before I was able to fall to the hard, tiled floor.
One Year Later
“Mmma-ma!” Bayleigh’s three-month-old daughter sounded, as her mother laid next to her on the bed.
“Babe! Ocean said mama!” Bayleigh yelled to her fiancé, as he was in the master bedroom’s bathroom freshening up after a hard workout session.
Bayleigh coming fresh off of the streets of Miami as a drug addict. With no insurance, she hadn’t went to the doctor’s in years… which meant no birth control. After being kidnapped by Ocho with his intentions to help her, the two engaged in sexual intercourse once Bayleigh started to fall for the man.
Days after their newfound relationship, Ocho took Bayleigh shopping and decided to check on an old friend. When Chris caught up with Bayleigh at the gas station, and told her about Neakah’s condition, Ocho sped to the hospital. Upon arriving, Bayleigh noticed her friend laying on the hospital bed lifeless.
Neakah went on a date with the doctor, James. They were having a pleasant time… until she noticed Chris walking in with the nurse who attended to Bayleigh at the hospital. In rage, and jealous because he chose not to fuck her the night prior, it put Neakah in a furious mood. Cutting the date short, Neakah made up an excuse to James about why she needed to leave before storming out of the restaurant.
James was confused about the sudden mood change in his date. Brushing it off to the side, he paid the tab and headed to work for his shift at the hospital. Just as a normal day, James entered to chaotic situations. An hour after his shift is when the normal, turned abnormal. In an instant, the woman he was trying to start a relationship with was being rushed through the emergency doors by paramedics.
Apparently when Neakah left, she was on her way home. She wanted to be away from the outside world. Depression began to hit her. Speeding down the main streets was harmless, until she ran a red light and intercepted with a tractor trailer truck.
BOOM!
The collision caused a loud bang before the driver’s occupying the streets slammed on their brake pedals. The accident severed Neakah’s bumper, pushing it until she was almost crushed by the force of the front of her vehicle. Within seconds, paramedics arrived and recovered Neakah from her car. Once they were able to make out a pulse, they rushed her to the hospital in hopes to save her.
Even with the doctor’s attempt at surgery, Neakah wasn’t able to be recovered. She was placed on life support after her skull, ribs and lungs were fractured. After Bayleigh arrived at the hospital, she laid with her for weeks. According to the documentation from a while back, Neakah chose for Bayleigh to be her beneficiary; she didn’t wish to give any more to her filthy rich Asian parents.
That being said, Bayleigh had to be the one to sign for the doctors to take Neakah off of life support. Instantly, Neakah passed away. A few weeks after the death and the family assisting Bayleigh with a nice funeral for Neakah, Bayleigh was called by an Attorney to come to his office. Upon arriving for a meeting, Bayleigh learned that Neakah had left her a settlement of almost a million dollars, and the home she owned.
Bayleigh was thrilled, but she still mourned over her late friend. She was so much in a depression, and sober, that she assumed stress as a reason for her period being late. Two months of no period, Ocho insisted she’d take a pregnancy test. Sure enough, Bayleigh was about to become a mommy.
“Everything happens at the right time,” she expressed to Ocho.
Six months of dating, Ocho proposed to Bayleigh when they were out for dinner one night. Of course, she accepted. He was the man who forced her out of the streets, gotten her pregnant and provided her with anything she needed. Finally, she was being treated like a queen.
As for Zaiya and Chris, the two got into a serious relationship immediately. Chris moved in with Zaiya after five months of dating. They’re relationship was great. Zaiya was on track with her job at the hospital. Chris kept his employment as a financial advisor. The two were faithful to each other, although they couldn’t hold loyalty to their past lovers.
It wasn’t until the two were dating for eight months before deciding on an open relationship. Need for attention from other women and men rested heavily on each of them. They agreed to keep the affairs discreet and leave them on a one-night stand level. Hey! Whatever makes you happy! To each its own.
In the end, they were happy. Bayleigh and Ocho were parents, and Neakah rested on the clouds of Heaven.
