“Okay…but I’m still confused.”
“Evan bought these when we went shopping and I’ve stuck with this brand ever since. They’re his favorite too. So, do you get it now?”
“Yes,” she replied. “That’s very clever.”
He laughed.
“What can I say, I’m a clever guy.”
She hugged him and they kissed. The cops finally arrived and took statements from both of them. Once they were cleared they headed back to Sunny’s apartment.
“I’m sorry Sunny,” said Sarah.
“For what?”
“For everything that happened to you. For being locked up. For all the stares from strangers. You deserved better. Better than this town anyway.”
“I’d do it all again if it meant I could be with you.”
She laughed.
“Wow, your game’s a little rusty.”
“Hmm, okay how about this; a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do?”
“Now you’re just quoting movies.”
She hugged his arm as they walked and looked up at the moon again.
“Can’t see it anywhere,” said Sarah.
“We don’t need it.”
“Ah, now that’s a good line. So what are you gonna do now Sunny?”
He smiled, and then thought for a moment. He held her chin up gently and gave her a warm passionate kiss.
“Move on.”
