Although the last two weeks seemed tranquil, a lot was going on in the background. Marcus kept constant watch on their security and kept the clan on their toes. Amy was practicing her special talent with them all. During one of her practice sessions, she connected with one of Victoria’s cats about a mile from Marcus’ property line. He sent his wolves to the area immediately, but the cat was gone.
Amy was perplexed by what she felt in the cat’s mind. She didn’t feel animosity. She felt as if the cat was waiting for something, but she could not get a clear mind blend. The cats were different from the wolves. Their thinking was different, but feeling the cat made Amy realize there was unfinished business and the lives of everyone she held dear were still at stake.
She knew she was ready to become one with Marcus. She wanted to begin their life together and until she was immortal she was vulnerable. She understood it weighed on Marcus’ mind and he was afraid for her. Victoria would kill her if given the chance.
Amy didn’t want to push him, but he needed to stop stalling. She wanted to offer protection for the babies and not take away precious guards for her own safety.
During this peaceful interlude Amy made phone calls to Brian and told him about the twins’ birth. Brian was beginning to accept Marcus. He was coming to realize that this was not a passing fancy for Amy. Brian was adjusting.
