Her knees gave out and she ended up on the floor next to him as the people at the table craned to see them.
"Yes, Bronx. Of course I will marry you," she said in a thin and reedy voice she could barely hear.
Bronx smiled triumphantly and slipped the ring onto her finger as the room erupted in applause and whistles. Eme threw her arms around her fiance and felt all of her past fall away.
If she had known at sixteen that she had to walk through all of that pain to get there, to that moment, she would have chosen to do it all again.
Bronx was worth it.
