There was a soft touch on his shoulder.
Daniel wheeled around.
Out of the dark stepped an old woman.
She smiled at him. “I'm here for you.”
“Wha... What?” There was something wrong about the woman, something terribly wrong.
A gnarled hand reached for him. Daniel stepped backward.
“No! I don't want to go with you!” he said.
“You have no choice,” she said. “Come.”
“No!” his next steps caused the backs of his legs to run into the person on the ground. He tripped and fell back, over the body. Daniel came face to face with Brother Angelo, his eyes open staring toward the torch on the ground, lifeless.
Daniel screamed.
