“Oh, no, you don’t,” I mockingly menaced her. “I won’t even listen to your objections, Bridget. I need to get going. I need to be in Kentucky for a show by Friday night. I made a very specific promise to an old friend, and I wouldn't disappoint her for the world.” She stood up long enough for me to give her a big, bracing hug, and then I turned to Haley. “You take care of her for me while I’m away, okay?”
“I promise. But don’t be a stranger. Come back and visit more often, Jake.” She hugged me also, which was kind of awkward with her twins in the way, but we managed. Both Bridget and Haley walked me to the door, and we parted ways. It felt good to leave the first of the many visits on my list on a good note. I had no way of knowing if the others would go as smoothly.
As I walked back to the car, I thought about my next stop. A very special and somber anniversary was coming up, and I knew that a visit from one of Nory’s dad's old friends would help him out at this time of the year.
Despite completing our mission and rescuing Arik, the Yabut were still at large. LaShawn had played a huge role in our attempt to take them down, and I had a feeling his son would want to hear some of his father’s untold stories from the old days. So, it was on to Kentucky because there was only one way to find out how the kid had turned out, and I knew no one would love to hear that tale more than Nory.

Hey, if you got here, I just want you to know that you’re awesome! I wrote this book just for someone like you, and if you want another one, it is super important that you leave a review.
The more reviews this book gets, the more likely it is there will be a sequel to it. After all, I’m only human, and you have no idea how far a simple “your book was great!” goes to brighten my day.
Also, if you want to know when the next book comes out, you absolutely must join my Facebook group and follow me on Amazon. Doing one won’t be enough because it relies on either Facebook or Amazon telling you the book is out, and they might not do it.
