  Sophie's Surrender

Sophie had no interest in the BDSM club down the road, but when the Copeland brothers walked into her small bakery, heat was rising from more than just the bread.

As the new owner of Viper’s Dungeon, Alex Copeland is more than ready to find a full-time sub. Sophie Richards, with her delicious curves and warm smile, seems to be a perfect choice.

His brother, Adrian, wasn’t quite ready to settle into domestic Dom-sub bliss but one glance at the beauty behind the counter makes him wonder. Maybe it only takes the right woman to make him want the same thing as his brother. As experienced Doms, sharing seems almost natural.

So what happens when they discover that Sophie not only misunderstands their way of life but divorced the head of security at Viper’s Dungeon because of it?

Hell, everyone at Viper’s knows Malcolm Richards still loves his ex-wife.

Note: There is no sexual relationship or touching for titillation between or among siblings.

  Chapter One

The lights were dim and strategically placed. The music a deep throb, the beat low and heavy, the atmosphere dark, foreboding. From everywhere people had gathered, the crowd around the stage growing as The New Enforcer took his position.

The sub was dragged onto stage, her terror seeming real, her pleas for mercy sounding genuine. They pushed her to her knees, her head tilted down, her shoulders slumped forward, her hands clasped together as she waited for judgment to be passed.

The Enforcer stared at her, drawing out the moment, increasing the anticipation that could be felt in the air.

  “Stand up,” he ordered.

The sub quickly complied, her movements graceful, her experience with this type of scene obvious. The Enforcer moved around her, his hand gliding over her skin as he inspected the slender woman before him.

  Finally, he nodded.

Other Doms stepped forward and moved the woman toward the whipping post. They secured her wrists carefully, checking several times to make certain her bonds weren’t too tight. Only then did they blindfold her and move away.

Satisfied with their work, The Enforcer turned to his collection and chose an implement of punishment. The paddle was quite large, the drilled holes making certain it would land with a harder impact. This was one little sub who wouldn’t be sitting comfortably for days.

She squirmed in her bonds as The Enforcer rubbed the wooden paddle over her ass, both to warm her skin and to warn her of what was to come.

“Be still,” he ordered, tapping her with the paddle in warning. The woman whimpered, continuing to move despite the man’s stern tone. He stood back, waiting for her to comply. Finally she stopped moving, this time waiting quietly for her punishment to begin. The Enforcer delayed a little longer, making certain that she knew who was in charge. “Count them, sub.”

She screamed with the first hit, lifting onto her toes, wriggling in reaction to the pain.

The Enforcer waited, watching her closely, his expression hidden by the black face mask. When she didn’t say anything, he threaded his fingers through her hair and tilted her head backward.

  “Count!”

She ignored him, continuing to writhe in her bonds. The Enforcer carefully removed the sub’s blindfold, gripped her chin in his hand, and tilted her face so that he could see her very clearly.

“One,” she sobbed, her reaction almost genuine.

But The Enforcer saw through her acting, recognizing her behavior for what it was.

“Take her down,” he practically growled in disgust. “Bring me another.”

“No,” the sub said in a panicked voice, her first genuine reaction all night. “Please. No. It’s my turn.”

The Enforcer leaned over her then, his anger very clear in his body language. Alex couldn’t hear the man’s quiet words but he knew his friend well enough to know what he said. He never would tolerate subs who topped from the bottom. It was one thing for a sub to play a role in a planned scene, but when she reacted so dishonestly it became dangerous.

This particular sub was a masochist and well known for trying to manipulate her Doms into giving her serious and painful punishments. She’d also been known to move deliberately during a scene so that a blow aimed at the fleshy part of her body co
uld land in a more dangerous area and cause more serious injury. Thankfully, most Doms at Viper’s Dungeon were well trained and had been able to avoid disaster, but her attempts to manipulate them had put many off playing with her at all.

The fact that she’d tried it during a public scene she’d waited months for was concerning. Either the sub was arrogant enough to think the new man to play the role of The Enforcer wouldn’t notice or something had happened again in her personal life. It wasn’t the first time this sub had needed help and refused to ask. Viper had left a long list of women he’d considered “at risk” subs. This one had been at the top.

Alex tilted his head toward the exit, making eye contact with his head of security, Malcolm Richards. The man nodded and quickly followed him into the office area of Viper’s Dungeon.

As much as Alex enjoyed the displays in the main area, he was nevertheless grateful for Viper’s foresight in designing the rooms to be soundproof in his original building plans.

“Gina?” Malcolm asked as soon as the door was closed behind them.

“Yes, do we know much about her current situation?”

“Unfortunately, no. She’s a professional, highly educated woman, and emotionally more closed off than any sub I’ve ever met.”

“Does she have a regular Dom? Someone she’s played with more than once?” In the past twelve months as owner of Viper’s Dungeon he’d never seen the woman with the same Dom twice. Viper’s concern for her was obviously very valid.

“Most Doms avoid her, even most of the sadists. What she seems to need is a lot more than most want to give.”

“Was she abused as a child?”

Malcolm moved to the computer and called up the sub’s file. “Not that she’s admitted to,” he said with a shake of his head.

Alex took a seat at his desk and wondered how best to handle the situation. This sub’s self-destructive behavior suggested something was eating at her, a memory or experience, something that made her feel like she should be punished for real. But that wasn’t what Viper’s Dungeon was about. It was about Doms and subs filling mutual needs. Yes, the lifestyle was different for everyone, but what Gina wanted didn’t really fit anywhere and seemed to be a symptom of something darker rather than a healthy desire to explore her sexual and emotional needs.

She rarely, if ever, achieved orgasm at the club, and Alex had been approached by more than one concerned Dom over her situation. Tonight’s abandoned scene was just another in a long line of problems involving the woman.

He hated to ban subs from Viper’s Dungeon, but without a regular Dom Gina risked her safety, and her Dom’s sanity. Every Dom that was a member here was well trained and very much in control of their behavior. Viper had done a good job of weeding out the abusers and cruel bullies often found in this kind of lifestyle, and Alex intended to keep it that way. Unfortunately it seemed to be the type of domination Gina was seeking.

  “Is Cooper here tonight?”

Malcolm grinned, apparently already understanding where his thoughts were headed.

  “Let’s go talk to him.”

  * * * *

Malcolm relaxed as he listened to the conversation between the boss and one of the dungeon’s most experienced Doms. They’d all been worried for this particular sub but Alex was approaching the solution from a totally different angle.

“She won’t go for it,” Cooper said. “I’ve offered on a number of occasions but she flat out refuses to be immobilized. Even tonight she chose the whipping post over the St. Andrew’s cross. She refuses to play with any Dom who wants to tie her down.”

“I think it’s probably what she needs.”

“I won’t tie an unwilling sub.”

“I would never ask you to,” Alex said with a slow shake of his head. “The Doms here have explored just about every method we know to try and break through her self-destructive behavior. If she refuses this, I may have to cancel her membership and recommend a good psychiatrist.”

“I’ll talk to her,” Cooper said quietly. “If I can get her to agree, can you arrange for a few of the collared subs and their Doms to be there to support her? I think she needs to know she’s part of a community.”

“She’s managed to upset quite a few of the subs as well as Doms, but I’ll call in a few favors,” Alex said with a relieved-sounding sigh. “Anything else you need just let me know.”

Cooper turned his gaze to the angry young woman across the room, and then nodded slowly. “Hopefully, it’ll help her.”

They watched Cooper cross the room toward the sub in question where she sat cuffed to a chair with a ball gag in her mouth. She’d been violently angry when they’d taken her off the stage, but instead of giving her what she wanted, her bad behavior had earned her a “timeout” rather than the beating she’d been aiming for. Clearly, there was a deep-seated reason for her continued attempts to top from the bottom. If she’d just let someone close enough, she’d find that most members of their small community would openly offer their support.

“You’d really send her away?” Malcolm asked. This particular sub was proving to be a difficult challenge, but it didn’t seem fair to just give up on her. The wider community didn’t really understand the lifestyle they led.

Alex gave him a sad smile. “I don’t want to, but the sort of injury her behavior could cause isn’t a risk I want to take, either. Viper’s Dungeon has a very good safety record. I’d like to keep it that way.” He rubbed his face tiredly, perhaps a little overwhelmed with the responsibilities he himself had chosen to take on. Viper had been the same. He’d taken responsibility for all members in the club as well. Every person to come through the door signed a waiver indemnifying the club, its owner, and its members against legal and civil actions arising from injuries intentional or accidental, but both men had taken a very personal interest in making certain no one was actually hurt.

Malcolm glanced toward the main entry just as Alex’s brother, Adrian, stepped into the dungeon. Even still dressed in his suit and tie from his day job the man made an intimidating Dom. Malcolm had seen a lot of Doms walk through the front door over the years, but very few were comfortable in the dungeon without their leathers. For some it was a role they took, a type of playacting they indulged in to satisfy an itch, but for both the Copeland brothers it was as natural as breathing.

“Did I miss something?” Adrian asked as he followed their line of sight.

“Gina upset The Enforcer.” They never said the man’s name out loud. Just like Alex and Adrian had done before they’d bought the club, the name of the man behind the mask was only known to a handful of people. The mystery surrounding the unknown Dom seemed to appeal greatly to the more experienced subs.

Malcolm frowned again as he watched the young sub pull angrily at her bonds. She’d claimed to have extensive experience when she’d joined the club, but no one had ever believed it. Judging by her loss of control now, it was more obvious than ever that she’d lied.

Adrian looked concerned for the young woman, especially when it appeared she might hurt herself, but it was clear, even from here, that Cooper had things under control.

Satisfied that one troublesome sub was in good hands, Malcolm turned his attention to a ménage scene now onstage, smiling when he realized Logan was in town. He and Jace already had their sub, Emma, secured to the St. Andrew’s cross, her naked body on display for the first time since she’d given birth to their children. Malcolm knew many women worried about the changes in their body after carrying babies, but he still didn’t understand it. He’d always considered the softer curves and silvery lines of faded stretch marks as badges of honor. To him it symbolized a woman’s love and dedication to a man, her willingness to share something as beautiful as the creation of a child.

Of course he knew enough about life to realize it didn’t always happen that way. Unplanned pregnancies, unfaithful partners, tragedy, and a million other problems ruined the experience for people every day, but it was what he’
d hoped for with his own marriage.

The pang of loss that hit him was still as strong as the day she’d left. Sometimes he hated himself for still loving a woman who was so obviously wrong for him, but it was moments like this one that made him wish things had turned out differently.

He shook his head, annoyed at his introspection. It was time to move on. If he wanted a wife, a sub, and a woman who would have his children, it was about time he started actively looking for her. Lord knew, he worked in the right place.

“They’re pretty special together,” Alex said as they watched Jace and Logan reassure their sub with gentle kisses and soft touches over the parts of her that had changed the most.

Malcolm nodded. “What they’ve found is pretty rare.”

“Yeah,” Alex agreed. “I can’t imagine how hard it must be for Jace to share his wife with Logan whenever the guy blows into town.”

“Actually, she’s Logan’s wife,” Malcolm said with a grin. “On paper at least.”

“That I didn’t know,” Alex said with a soft laugh, “but I suppose it makes sense with Logan in the Navy. But still, I’m not sure I’d want to share my wife with any man. I never did play well with others.”

Adrian laughed at his brother’s words. “You got that right. Never let me ride his bike or borrow his car. Hell, he nearly killed me when his girlfriend kissed me.”

Alex laughed, obviously not offended by his brother’s teasing. “You had your own bike. You dinged my car the first time you drove it, and you were a twelve-year-old conman who convinced my seventeen-year-old girlfriend that it was your birthday. A sisterly peck on the cheek is not worth killing you over. Try it when I find a wife…then we’ll have a problem.”
