“You’re kidding.” I take one more step and find myself staring into the sleeping face of the man I’d slept with the night before. Well, not exactly him, just his carbon fucking copy. “Twins? There are two of them. A pair? Please tell me you’re kidding. Please? I don’t think I can deal with a pair of Eigens.”
“I never kid about men in bathtubs.” She knits her eyebrows together and crosses her arms over her chest and does the worst impression of a serious person I’ve ever seen in my life.
“How did he get in here?”
“I have no idea. I just came in to use the bathroom and there he was.”
“This is just fucking insane. I can’t believe this is happening.” My face feels cold and clammy and I swear the world is tilting. Hell, maybe the magnetic poles are shifting and nothing is pointing the right way anymore. “This is a fucking disaster.”
“Hardly. They are gorgeous. The world needs two of them. We need two of them.” Alice jumps up to her feet. She smiles like an idiot. “Isn’t this awesome?”
“No, this is not awesome.”
“Oh, come on! Can I keep him? Please! Please! Please!” Alice clasps her hands together and does a jumpy little dance. “I want one of my own!”
I stare at her and try to make sense of what I’m looking at but all I can say to her is, “Do you have any Vicodan?”
