Twisted Tom Page 9

by Rhys Evans Dean Davies

Tom was still behind the young girl, he grabbed his jeans and pulled out his hair dresser scissors, the young girl started to complain as Tom entered her bum, Tom slapped her across the bottom as she turned around, “Tom be gentle, you’re hurting me” she sobbed,

“what do you know about hurt bitch” Tom growled, Tom plunged the scissors into the back of the girls neck and moved it around, she slumped down on top of her friend, blood poured out of her everywhere, her friend woke up complaining about all the mess,

“Hey steady on you two, who spilt wine everywhere, wow I’m so gone” she slurred,

Tom entered her and she moaned, “its not wine my sweet it’s your friends life”

The girl underneath opened her eyes and tried to focus, “Tom is that you” she called out!

Tom pushed hard into her and finished off, the young girl cried out in pain,

Tom pulled her head up to him,

“That’s the last fuck you’re going to have my love” he growled and stuck his scissors into her neck and screwed them around, the young girl lurched forward in a second of pain and went limp, blood spurted all over Tom and he loved it, he laid back and covered himself in the warm blood,

Tom lit a cigarette and caressed Adam, he got aroused and entered Adam from behind as he was slumped over the older girl’s body, Tom finished off and laid there in a pool of blood, he fell asleep.

Tom woke to a funny noise from outside, he was all sticky with all the blood, one of the young girls was on top of him which he found weird, tom’s cheek was stinging a bit and he felt it, there was a scratch there, he looked at the girl on top of him, her eyes were open and staring at him, he pushed her off him and got up, Tom quickly tried to wipe the blood off of him,

it was dark, all the candles had gone out, he heard something moving around and a bottle was knocked over, he pulled out his scissors from the girls neck and put some clothes on, there was more noises from outside, “Dick you in there, I need something man, please dude” a voice called out!

Tom peeped through the curtains, there was a man sitting next to the BBQ grill, he was eating what was left, “Dick, Sandy you in there playing games, I didn’t mean to disturb you but I’m in a bad way, need some help out here mate” the man shouted!

“Hang on” Tom shouted back in a low voice and watched the man outside, he was drinking from one of the beer bottles.

“What u after then” Tom shouted!

“Anything” the man replied and dropped the bottle,

Tom threw one of the syringes out of the window, there was some shit still left inside,

“ok then, this will do I think” the man announced and picked the syringe up, he pulled back his sleeve and started to tap his veins, Tom peeped through the curtains, he watched the man inject himself and he sat on the floor next to the BBQ grill, “oh yes, ta very much bro” the man slurred and closed his eyes, Tom made his move and went outside, the man was sat there with his head back, Tom was going to stick him with his scissors but stopped, he looked at the BBQ,

The man opened his eyes and looked at Tom, “good stuff man” he slurred,

Tom kicked the BBQ drum over the man, the coals were still glowing, there was an instant smell of burning flesh and the man’s clothes caught fire,

Tom watched the man just sit there and burn, he was too high to realise what was happening to him,

Tom went back inside, he looked around the place and found some clothing, and he got washed and changed quickly then went back outside,

The wooden porch was on fire, Tom helped the fire on and the whole cabin went up in flames, Tom stood there with a bottle of beer and smoked a joint, he smiled as the wood cabin burned,

Tom walked off towards the town, he wanted to get back to London and try and sort things out, he was in a mess and was not in a good place, he walked away from the flames and smiled.

He made his way into the town, it was two in the morning, he found a taxi rank and jumped into a taxi, “Soho, London mate” he told the driver,

“Cost ya a bit mate, you got the fare” the driver asked?

Tom pushed fifty quid through the gap to the driver, “this do” he said,

“Ye mate, you get your head down and don’t throw up or it will cost you a lot more” the driver announced!

The taxi pulled off and Tom fell asleep.

Tom woke up and the taxi driver was yelling!

“I told you not to throw up mate” the driver shouted and pushed Tom about,

Tom looked at the taxi driver,

“Why do people keep pushing me” Tom growled and thrust his scissors into the taxi drivers eyes,

Tom grabbed the taxi driver onto him, the driver screamed and fell onto the floor of the cab in a mess of blood, the driver was still crying out and pulled the scissors out of his eyes, the driver sat there shaking, “why mate why” the driver asked? “why not mate” Tom replied and thrust his boot into the taxi drivers throat and twisted, there was a snap as his next was broke, “just like in a film, love it” Tom growled!

Tom cleaned himself up with a lot of wet wipes that the driver had and left the driver in the back of the cab,

Tom drove to London with a bad vision.

It took him a good two hours driving, he pulled up next to the canal he knew, his plan was to dump the cab into the canal, he wasn’t thinking too straight,

Tom got out of the taxi and looked around,

There was too many drunks and homeless in the area, he decided to come back when it was dark, Tom parked the cab in a quiet street and paid the parking meter, Tom covered over the man in the back with a blanket he found in the boot, the back windows were tinted so no one would see him in the back of the car, Tom made his way to his hotel,

The land lord was outside sweeping the steps, he looked at Tom, “I was about to pack all your stuff up son, where you been” he asked Tom?

“Long weekend and some, long story, I’ll pay you later if that’s ok with you, need to clean myself up and get some rest” Tom exclaimed,

“I know, too much booze too much shagging, those were the days” the landlord announced and started to cough from the cigarette hanging out of his mouth,

Tom went to his room and took off all his clothes he went straight into the shower and threw up all over his feet, he washed and scrubbed himself clean after what he had been through the last couple of days,

Tom led on his bed and fell asleep, he had some very bad dreams, he woke up sweating, it was getting dark outside, Tom put some clothes on and put the clothes he took off into a bag, he left the hotel and went to the taxi, there was a parking ticket on the windscreen,

Tom took the ticket and got into the cab, he drove to the canal,

He drove slowly down the narrow slip road next to the canal, he was going to a disused turning area on the canal, no boats came down this way anymore for years, the ware houses were all closed and abandoned,

The area was used by druggies, drunks and the homeless,

Tom stopped the cab under a bridge and looked about,

He knew the times when there would be people around as he had come here a few times in the past when he wanted to score some drugs and get away from things, Tom drove as far as he could, he put the driver into the driver’s seat and took all of his personal belongings, he was trying to make like he had been robed,

Tom took the hand brake off and pushed hard, the taxi rolled forward and rolled down the grass bank and flipped into the lock, there wasn’t too much of a splash and the taxi soon disappeared, Tom knew it was very deep here from what other people had told him in the past,

Tom watched the water and sat on the bank, he lit a cigarette and stared at the water.

Tom heard voices coming down the path, sounds of laughter and swearing,

He waited and saw a few faces he recognised,

“Tommie you shirt lifter, what you doing down here” one of the drunks shouted!

Tom stood up, “who can help me out with somethin
g then, had a bad day” Tom announced,

“Sure baby, come with us” a girl exclaimed, she grabbed Tom by the arm and pulled him along, “haven’t seen you about for a while Tommie” another drunk asked?

“Busy busy busy, you know me then I need a blowout once in a while” Tom replied,

“I’ll show you my new tattoo if you’re a good boy” the girl told him as they walked along,

There was a burbling noise in the water and everyone turned around, “lock ness Nessie lost brother lurking in the water” one of the drunks announced and laughed,

A lot of bubbles were coming up out of the water, “just trapped gas from the waste pipes, its well deep in there, lost a few people in there over the years, just disappeared” someone put in,

“Apparently there’s a ten foot pike in there somewhere, someone tried to catch it and he got pulled in, he nearly lost his arm to it” the other drunk exclaimed,

Tom started to laugh, “I miss you guys, always funny stories that make me laugh” Tom added, the girl pushed Tom towards the edge and pulled him back, “look after me tonight Tommie boy and I’ll see you right” she said to him and they walked on.

They made their way into a warehouse, a fire was started and bottles of booze was passed around, the girl pulled Tom onto a couch and they started to roll a joint.

Two of the other drunks lit a fire in an old oil drum, music was playing from an old stereo.

“we got some food coming later Tommie boy, Indian, free of course, it’s benefits payday today man, splash out for the week then beg for the rest of the week” one of the drunks exclaimed,”love a good Indian, Chinese, love it all, those spices really open me up” Tom announced, “ye man, they open me up in the morning too” another drunk put in,

They all laughed and drank some more, Tom and the girl were smoking and she passed some more joints to the others,

The evening went on, all was getting drunker and higher,

One of the girls was getting pretty fresh with Tom and her friend was getting jealous with it,

The girls started to argue and then started to kiss, Tom smoked another joint and drank a bottle of beer he joked with the other drunks and made an excuse to go before before things got ugly,

Tom had a bad feeling about staying there that night, he gave one of the drunks some cash,

He walked off and all the drunks yelled at him, “Weak link Tom” one of the yelled,

“ye ye ye, see you around, take care you lot, see you soon” Tom called back!

He walked along the canal and made his way to the high street and to his hotel,

Tom sat on the steps and lit a cigarette, he thought about what had gone on and wanted to cry,

Something blew against his leg, Tom looked down,

He picked up a piece of paper, it was a scratch card from the lottery, he was about to throw it away and didn’t, he looked at the ticket,

Tom rubbed his eyes, there was two gold bells on the card and some other symbols, and there was another lone that wasn’t scratched off yet.

Tom scratched the bottom line and saw another gold bell there, he laughed and thought maybe he would win a tenner or something, he laughed and checked the ticket.

Tom had to rub his eyes and light another cigarette, the scratch card said that three gold bells was a winner, the jackpot, a quarter of a million pounds,

Tom looked around nervously to see if anyone was around,

He held the card and read it again,

“I am dreaming” he said to himself and tears ran down his face.

Tom picked himself up, he wasn’t to soba, he went into his hotel and went to his room, Tom was hungry, and he ordered a takeaway and a bottle of red wine and waited for it,

The meal came and Tom got stuck in, he drank half the bottle of wine and started to eat, he checked the ticket again and saw the three gold bells and checked the win again, quarter of a million, £250,000 pounds, Tom went to his window and watched people pass by, he had a cigarette and finished off the bottle of wine,

Tom hid the ticket under the mattress and passed out on the bed.

He had some crazy dreams through the night and woke up sweating, it was four in the morning, Tom checked the ticket again in case he was just tripping out and drunk and thinking daft things, the ticket was real, he opened his laptop and went to the scratch card internet site,

He sent the Loto scratch card an email reference his winning ticket, they replied that they would be in touch and congratulations,

Tom went out, it was just after five in the morning, he needed some cash to pay the land lord, the streets were quiet and he walked on, there was a corner shop up ahead and he walked in, he passed the scratch card to the Indian chap behind the carpet, “could you check this for me please” Tom asked?

“no problem” he replied, the ticket had been bent too much and wouldn’t go into the machine so the Indian man tapped in the serial number on the bottom of the card,

Tom watched the expression on the man’s face, his eyes became very wide and he shouted out in his own language, he looked at Tom,

Another two Indian men came out from the back looking tired,

Tom was ready to climb over the counter to get back his ticket in case the three of them had other plans,

“you win jackpot sir, bloody bloody hell, this was bought in another one of our shops in the high street, well done, you give us luck now” the Indian man behind the counter said and looked at the ticket, “can you believe I nearly threw it away, that’s why its been bent over a few times” Tom added and smiled,

“two hundred and fifty thousand sir” the other Indian chap told Tom and shook his hand, one of the other Indians opened a bottle of champagne and gave it to Tom, the chap behind the counter wanted to take a picture of Tom holding the winning ticket and the two other owners next to him,

“it’s great but I don’t want any publicity over my win, happy I bought it in one of your shops and I hope you get something from this, what happens now” Tom exclaimed?

The Indian men were ok with what Tom asked, they took a picture of the scratch card and the three of them holding it but no pictures of Tom,

Tom said he would see them right, Tom took the ticket of the man from behind the counter and put it in his inside pocket,

The phone rang and the Indian man behind the counter answered it, he passed the phone to Tom, “it’s someone from Lotto sir, they want to talk to the person who purchased the winning scratch card” the Indian man said and passed the phone to Tom.

Tom spoke to the person on the end of the line, he gave his mobile number and address, he told them he wasn’t too sure which shop he had purchased the ticket from but from the serial number it was confirmed to be one of the Indian men’s shop on the high street,

The person from Lotto said they would need to confirm that Tom had purchased the winning scratch card from the shop and they would have to check the CCTV coverage because it is such a big win it had to be proved that Tom was the person who purchased the ticket and not just found it in the street or taken it off someone else, Tom had a small argument with the person on the phone and shook his head, he handed the phone back to the shop keeper,

The Indian man answered a few questions and told the Loto person that no publicity of the winner is to be publicised just the shop and the owners of the premises, he talked about the CCTV,

Tom looked at him and made hand signals gesturing no CCTV and he would see him right, the Indian on the phone got the message and nodded to Tom, he spoke in his own language to the other Indians,

“I sorry the CCTV in the shop is not working we are waiting for an engineer to come and upgrade it today, it is not possible to view the person purchasing the scratch card” the Indian man answered on the phone, Tom had drunk half the bottle of champagne by this time and was about to walk out and disappear until he heard what the Indian man said on the phone, the Indian put the phone down and smiled,

“Sir they are happy with ever
ything, they will pay for a taxi for you to go to their head office and collect a cheque for the winnings and sign some paperwork, no publicity of you winning the jackpot will be publicized,

Just our shop and the win and not who won it” the Indian chap announced,

Toms mobile rang, it was a person from Loto, they chatted for a while and Tom was happy when he hung up the phone, he shook the Indian men’s hands and said his good byes, he promised he would come back and see them once he had the winnings in his bank, tom gave them his mobile and took theirs, He walked out as the shop keepers talked happily together,

Lotto had arranged for Tom to come to their head office tomorrow morning and he would collect his winnings, he walked down the road buzzing,

Tom got to his hotel and saw the land lord outside smoking,

“Hello there young man, you got lucky last night I think with the look on your face there” he said to Tom,

“Yes sir” Tom replied and handed him a few hundred pounds for his rent and some more,

“Look after me, I was never hear” Tom whispered,

“The land lord looked at Tom, “you know me boy, were both EastEnders here, mums the word” the land lord put in and nodded, Tom smiled at him and went inside,

Tom stayed in his room for the rest of the day, he had a bottle of vodka and some snacks to munch on, the TV was on and he was searching his laptop wondering where he was going to disappear too and start a new life,

Tom still couldn’t believe it still, he took a photo of the ticket on his mobile phone,

He went to the window and watched the people pass by, he sat there happy and drank from the bottle of vodka and made a joint, the day passed and his mobile rang again, it was a taxi company confirming his cab for tomorrow morning to take him to an address and bring him back to London, Tom thanked them and said good bye.

He went to his laptop and searched, he came the local area news, the police were commenting about the library and the disappearance of the security officer who was supposed to have been on duty and the suicide of the libraries manager and fire at her home, also the police were interviewing other work colleagues from the library, Tom knew that the rest of the staff didn’t even know his name, they all kept themselves to themselves and looked after their own area of the library, complete book worms and no lifers, the police are still investigating into the matter,
