“You look happy,” my grandfather said, sitting down next to me on the upper deck of the houseboat we now shared.
“I am happy,” I decided, nodding and looking out into the water like it was a long lost friend I’d come to find again. “What was it you said about knowing when something really matters to you?” I stared wistfully. “I didn’t know it, but I think I missed this place the way you said you would, old man.” I shook my head. “I missed it like an arm.”
“Well,” he said, clinking a disgusting diet beer can against my Corona bottle. “I’m sure it’s glad to have you back. I know we are.”
