Curved Horizon Page 31

by Taylor Brooke

Water dripped off Daisy’s eyelashes. Her lips dragged along Chelsea’s jaw, neck, and shoulder.

Being in love was freedom Chelsea never expected.

Being in love with Daisy Yuen was freedom Chelsea never knew existed.

“What do you think next year will be like?” Daisy asked through chattering teeth.

Chelsea tilted her head. She glanced at the boys, at Aiden who met her gaze and smiled, at Shannon who tipped his head back to welcome the sun on his face.

  “We’ll find out,” Chelsea said.

Daisy’s hands ran up her spine; their warmth fought the bitter cold of the ocean.

  The world turned.

  Chelsea closed her eyes.

They all felt it, she was sure.

Curved Horizon was born out of self-reflection and resilience. I navigated dark hallways and kicked down locked doors to find it. I’m eternally grateful for the team at Interlude Press, who looked at the mess I brought back from behind those locked doors and said, “We can work with this.”

To the wild ones, stay wild.

  To the fighters, keep fighting.
