“Meyet-” he started.
“Don’t,” I warned.
“No, listen to me.”
I spun towards him and closed the distance between us. My finger jabbed him in the center of his chest. “No, you listen to me, Captain. I don’t care about the super dramatic rescue or that you found my brother. I’m still angry with you. Understand?”
He nodded.
“Malik needs a hemo-binder or he’s going to die. Get it for me.”
“How soon do you need it?”
“Forty-eight hours max. Twenty-four to make me happy.”
Ruush spoke into his wrist comm and sent an order. “Done. We’re heading to a station to get it now.”
Relief flooded through me. I lurched forward and crushed his mouth with mine. The kiss involved too much teeth and I nipped at his lower lip. His nose somehow got in the way. I was a terrible kisser when angry. He wrapped his arms around me, clutching me like I would vanish. Finally, I pulled away. My hand was over my mouth, trying to stifle the giggle bubbling to the surface.
“I’m getting mixed messages here, kitten.”
“Shut up and kiss me.”
His hand gripped the back of my neck and pulled me in. His wicked tongue caressed my lips and delving into my mouth. A moan rattled in the back of my throat. I had never hoped to have this taste again. Joy and relief flooded through me, mixed with a solid anger at this blue idiot.
“I’m sorry,” Ruush said, his courage vanishing as he pulled away.
“Don’t you dare stop,” I said, grabbing him by the wrists and pulling him back. “I thought-” my voice quivered. “I thought I was going to be raped and killed. Tortured. I just want to be loved and safe.”
He planted a kiss on my forehead. “I do love you, Meyet. That wasn’t merely witty banter.” A kiss on my nose. “But there’s one thing you’re wearing that I insist has to go.” Fingertips brushed against the metal of the slave collar I still wore. His thick fingers worked underneath the metal and he gave a sharp tug. The clasp gave way and he removed the collar. He handed the disgusting piece of jewelry to me.
“Ruush...” My eyes grew damp. No crying. My fingers curled around the collar. That was two times now the Fremmian rogue removed the marks of enslavement from me.
“Without you, I have nothing,” he said. A kiss on my lips, soft and tender. “You are everything.”
“Prove it, Ruush. Right now. I need you.” It was selfish of me but if I didn’t replace these surging emotions of terror and fright with pleasure, I’d fall apart.
“What if he wakes up?” Ruush asked.
“He won’t.” Not with the meds I had administered. “If he does, the dome’s closed. He can’t see or hear anything in there.” Listen to me seducing with medical science.
“It’s too soon, kitten. I want you. Stars above, I need you, but I don’t-”
The make-shift skirt hit the floor, followed by the lacey white panties. Asking for what I needed was not working. The situation required an explicit message. My blouse and bra joined the rest of the clothes. I was nude, except for the jewelry and the paint on my hands and feet.
His eyes ate up every curvy inch of me.
“I’m tired of people making decisions for me. I need you now, Ruush.”
“Kitten.” The red welts on my stomach caught his attention.
“I’m fine,” I said, reactively.
“That doesn’t look fine.”
“Gentle used an acid, I suspect. It’ll scar. He wanted to leave a mark.”
“If I could kill him again, I would, for daring to harm a hair on your head.”
That sweet talker. I took his hands and placed them on my hips. His touch was hesitant. “I’m not broken,” I said.
His fingers flexed, gripping me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and carefully brought my lips to his. No more talking. Later. Talking was for later. I set the pace. A slow kiss. Thoughtful. All the time in the galaxy to let lips brush against each other, for tongues to scout the universe beyond.
I blazed a trail of kisses from the corner of his mouth across the lightly-stubbled expanse of his cheeks, to the earlobe and down his neck. His chest rumbled. Upon reaching his shirt collar, nimble fingers undid the top buttons. I pushed open the fabric, exposing the expanse of rippling muscle. I kissed down to his chest.
His grip on my hips tightened. He didn’t know what I planned but he didn’t want to stop me. I sank to my knees, the cold floor forgotten, undid his fly and his cock sprang free.
I kissed the tip and glanced up at Ruush, swiping my tongue slowly across the head. Our eyes locked and I took him in my mouth as much as possible. His cock grew harder, swelling and stiffening. I ran my tongue around the head and down the underside, along the length of rigid veins. Both of his hands gripped the back of my head, urging me on.
I grabbed the shaft with one hand and cupped his balls with the other. I kept a slow pace down the length of his cock and back up again, around the head. All the time in the world. Steadily, I increased the suction until his hard cock pulsed.
“Kitten,” Ruush cried, hands clutching my head, fingers tangled in my hair and ruining the elaborate up-do. His hips pushed into my face, fucking my mouth. My throated relaxed, taking all of his considerable length.
I did not pull away as he came, his cock twitching. I took every last drop and swallowed. I waited until he finished and rose. His hands skimmed my body, cupping my breasts. His tongue rolled across my nipples.
“You’re wearing too many clothes,” I said. Quickly, he shucked off his clothes and added them to my discarded pile. I admired the hard perfection of his physique.
Ruush lifted me like I weighed nothing and sat me down atop a counter. He ran his hand along my thighs, outside and then parting them. My skin glistened from my dripping desire. He leaned down and licked, lapping up my juices from my inner thigh. Stubble brushed against delicate skin.
He spread my legs wide and paused, admiring my pussy. “You are so damn sexy, Meyet.” A finger parted the downy hair and pushed further in, finding wetness. His eyes did not leave my pussy. His fingers tormented my heated flesh, stroking up and down, spreading my slickness.
I throbbed. I needed him desperately. “Ruush, please.”
He pressed his face into me, breathing deeply. His tongue lapped at my clit, swirling around my sensitive bud. His fingers pumped in and out of me. I didn’t last long before I clutched at his head, crying his name.
Hard again, he positioned his cock at my entrance. I was ready. His mouth sought mine. He pulled me towards him and entered in a smooth thrust. I sighed in pleasure. Finally. My legs wrapped around his waist. One hand cradled the curve of my rump, the other leaned against the counter. The touch of skin on skin. I closed my eyes and leaned into Ruush, head resting on his shoulder.
“Marry me, kompli. I need the galaxy to know you belong to me.” He didn’t miss a beat and kept up the rhythm pushing into me. A driving need replaced the gentle strokes. He pushed harder, slamming his cock into me. It was by far the best marriage proposal I’d received that day. Stars above, I love the way he attacked my pussy: desperate, forceful, and necessary for survival. And I loved him.
“Yes, Ruush!” My climax overtook me, anger and desire and love tearing through me. “I love you! Don’t stop, my love.”
Ruush gave a few more frantic thrusts. Deep inside me, his cock swelled and pulsed. Throwing back his head, my alien love roared, filling me with his hot seed. He shuddered to a stop and rested his head against my shoulder.
“I did so many things wrong, kompli,” he said. “I behaved without honor, valor, or loyalty.”
“I saw valor today.”
“Please let me finish, sweet mate. I wanted all the benefits of having you as my mate, all the joy, but I showed you no loyalty. I turned away from you when you needed me. I did not honor the bond between us. I did not honor you.
“I want to do right by you, starting with marriage. As soon as possible.”<

I stroked the top of his head. “Well, I am dressed for it. You know, it’s an old Terran tradition that captains can perform marriages but I don’t think you can do your own ceremony.”
“Resolve used to be a captain. I’m sure she’ll do the honors.”
A striated patterned softly glowed across his stomach. I stroked the marks. It was probably my imagination that the glow responded to my touch. “Gorgeous,” I said. “Before I thought-I mean I thought I saw bioluminescence before but decided it was trick of the light.”
Ruush looked down in amazement. He took my hand and guided my fingers as I traced the pattern. “This has never happened to me. It must be the Mate Mark.”
“Mate Mark?”
“It is a sign of our bond. The pattern grows more complex as we spend our life together.”
“Never glowed for another girl?” My voice teased.
He leaned down, lips capturing mine. “Just for you, kompli. I shine for you.”
How can a girl not melt with a buff rogue literally glowing with his desire for her?
It was hard to tear my eyes away from his abdomen and chest. I needed more than a glowing mark and an apology from him. I needed tangible change. “No more hurting people,” I said. “I’ve spent my life around criminals, gamblers, and addicts. I’m tired of it. If I stay, we’re above board.”
“What if the end justifies the means?”
“Don’t give me that philosophical bullshit. No criminal activity, I’m serious. Or Malik and I will -”
He silenced me with a kiss. “Above board, kitten. Like you said. Time for the Promontory to go legitimate.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Merc work is legitimate. Lots of unsafe places, lots of rich folks looking for an escort. Sound good?”
“Licensed with the IU?”
“I’ll do the paperwork tonight. Tomorrow we’ll head for Gye and take in the Singing Crystal Towers. And then we’ll see all the wonders in the universe.”
“I’d like coffee on a beach at dawn but anywhere with you is where I want to be.” Anywhere with Ruush, I was safe and loved, which was all I ever wanted.
Epilogue
Meyet
Ruush landed on his back on the floor mat. Malik stood over him, a self-pleased smirk on his face. “Old and slow,” he said, extending his hand.
“All out of constructive feedback?”
“As long as you fear my claws, you will fail.”
“I have a healthy respect for those things.”
“It holds you back.” Malik rested in a waiting stance, knees bent slightly. “Again.”
Ruush attacked, delivering a flurry of blows. Malik blocked them all before striking his own series of hits. In motion, the two men blurred into cream and slate blue. Ruush moved to block the first and second. The third hit home. The fourth knocked Ruush to the mat.
“Better.” Malik tossed Ruush a towel. Practice was over.
“Can I borrow your punching bag?” I asked. Ruush followed me from the exercise room into the corridor.
The towel hung across the back of Ruush’s neck. Shirtless, his hard muscles glistened with a sheen of sweat. Even after six months, I still couldn’t get enough of touching, tasting, and ogling his beautiful body. I couldn’t let him realize that, though, or I’d never hear the end of it.
In the last months, the crew of the Promontory went legitimate. Currently, we were posed as merchants smuggling in goods to the recently independent colony of Blackborn. Long abandoned, folks not interested in joining the Interstellar Union had seized the planet. Ruush spent many a night grumbling that if he had known, he could have just claimed ownership of Blackborn, a spot he had utilized for years, and he’d be a pirate king.
I didn’t believe his ego could survive that kind of inflation.
Right now, the IU restricted free trade with the newly independent and resettled colony. Blackborn’s market demanded supplies, tools, and weapons, and where there’s unmet demand, there’s a black market. It was a good thing we weren’t pretending to be legitimate merchants. Our cargo of luxury goods were gone almost as soon as we landed. Everyone wanted chocolate, wine, and pretty clothes. The only thing Blackborn had to trade were Snow Apples. The cinnamon flavored sweet fruit had proven popular.
Of course, there was subterfuge. Ruush wouldn’t be happy without some sneaking about. Our crew included an undercover IU diplomat. Our front as smugglers allowed us movement on the colony and gave the diplomat plenty of opportunities to forge contacts and try to reopen negotiation. Basically, we sold cheap chocolate at a high mark-up and flew the ship where the client said.
“Was it a sacred sword? Is that how you got kicked out of the Academy?”
“You did not interrupt my workout for that,” Ruush said. He leaned down and pressed an affectionate kiss on my forehead. He paused and then pulled away, hands clamped on my shoulders.
“Is something wrong, kitten?”
My hand stroked my stomach. “No, not at all. Actually, everything is wonderful.”
Silver sparkled over his dark eyes, focusing on my hand. He gasped and looked at me for confirmation. “Are you-”
I nodded. “It’s early yet but we’re going to have a baby.”
Ruush swept me into a bone crushing embrace. “Truly?”
“Yes.”
“And you’re certain?”
“I am a doctor. I know things, just not how long this baby is going to cook.” Fremm babies grew big and slow, but Ruush was a hybrid, and I was Terran. Who knew how long gestation would last.
“My mother claims I took eighteen months out of spite.”
“Oh, hell no. I am not going to be pregnant for a year and a half.”
“I say twelve months, tops.”
“Wanna bet?”
His mouth captured mine.
I pulled away for air. “There’s so many things to decide. I want to hold off for a bit before we tell the crew.”
“Anything. You’ll have it.”
“Do you reckon Resolve will tolerate a new generation of Rueben’s clutching her tail?”
“Do you reckon your brother will ever let anyone else hold the baby?”
Laughter bubbled out of me.
“Kitten!” Another fierce embrace, this one accompanied with a twirl. “You are everything: my love, my mate, and now the mother of my son. You’ve given me so much, everything I needed.”
“Could be a daughter,” I said.
“Better still. We’ll fill this ship with our clever, smart-mouthed, trouble-making progeny.”
My smile would not fade, even at the idea of a ship full of Ruush’s trouble making children. I had my family now. I had everything.
Need more alien warriors?
The adventure and romance is not over yet.
Paax: A Warlord Brides Story
Paax never wanted to be matched to a mate.
The situation in his clan was dangerous for a hardened warrior, let alone a soft Human female without fangs or claws to defend herself. Sending her back to Earth was the only way to keep her safe. However, the moment the curvaceous woman stepped off the transporter, his tattoo burned with a passionate intensity he’d never experienced before. Paax knew he would do anything to protect her, to claim her, even challenge the clan’s violent Warlord.
No force in the universe would take his mate from him.
Matched to an alien warrior in the Draft, Mercy swore she’d do whatever it took to get out of the marriage contract. She liked her life on Earth and her independence. No one would take it away, not even the ridiculously hot warrior who demanded she call him husband.
Why is being claimed by the horned muscular alien the only thing she can think about?
She didn’t want to stay, did she?
Read Paax now.
Kitten!
I hope you had fun with Ruush and Meyet. This was my longest story yet and, I think, my most complex. Ruush and Meyet will return in Alien Rogue’s
Prize, but after the next Fremm novel, Alien Commander’s Mate.
Chem and Jaimie don’t care much for each other, which is fine. He’s cold and snobby. She talks way too much. When the Edder attack Galax One, they must work together to survive. Is their attraction real or the product of a stressful environment?
Does it matter?

I live in an old house with my husband and two cats that have complaints with management. I try to wear pants as little as possible.
