Seduction in a Suit: An Office Romance Collection Page 7

Over the next few weeks Chailyn met with Mitchell often either at her office or his. The awareness kept getting stronger. Chailyn was thankful they were never alone. Either Tariq, Nicolas, and sometimes both was in on the meeting. Driscoll's new stipulation that no one was to know what they were planning meant they couldn't bring in any other of their employee's. Someone had leaked the companies were working together. Driscoll was furious when he found out and almost pulled out of the project. Grudgingly Chailyn could admit that fast talking by both her and Mitchell to get him to agree to keep them on. They still hadn’t found out who had leaked the info. Now only she, Mitchell, Tariq, and Nicolas knew when, the time, and where the meetings were.

Bring back her attention to the table, Chailyn checked over her notes. They had covered everything for the night. "Okay that's good. Let's call it a night."

Gathering her things Chailyn nodded to Tariq to show Mitchell out then went into her office to gather her things to leave. Hearing the conference room close Chailyn started stuffing work into her briefcase. She was glad it was the weekend. She could get a lot of work done from home. After a few minutes she heard the door to her office open.

Without looking up from what she was doing Chailyn asked, "Do you have any plans for dinner?"

  "I do now."

Chailyn glanced up quickly at Mitchell standing in the doorway of her office. The determination on his face made her know he was through letting her avoid him.

  3

Mitchell saw the look on her face and was ready to overcome her excuses. Her answer took him off guard.

“I don’t feel like going out. You can come to my house and I’ll cook.” She watched him with a look of challenge in her face.

He stifled his grin as he checked his watch then looked back at her. “That’s fine. I need to swing by my office so I’ll meet you at your house. Say in two hours?”

Nodding Chailyn quickly wrote down her address gave it to him and gathered her things. They walked out together.

“See you later.” She mumbled as she got into her car and drove away.

Watching her drive away Mitchell smiled. Each time he saw Chailyn she got more beautiful. She was smart and beautiful. Two of the things he liked in a woman. He wanted to get to know her better on a more personal level and decided not to worry about it. He and Chailyn would just come to an understanding. A mutually satisfying one. His pants felt tight, just thinking of how satisfying. Turning Mitchell went to his car, got in and planned a controlled way to seduce Chailyn.

Less than the two hours he had said, Mitchell stood outside Chailyn’s door. The architect in him appreciated the beauty of her beautiful home. It was sprawling with clean lines. The area surrounding the house was meticulously maintained with a profusion of flowers all over. It looked like a garden oasis.

Taking a look back at the stained-glass door Mitchell wondered where she had found such exquisite work. Suddenly the door opened.

She’s so beautiful. Mitchell knew he was in trouble as he viewed Chailyn framed in the light. Glancing down at what she wore he quashed a grin and shook his head. If Chailyn thought the baggy orange T-shirt and black sweat pants detracted from her sexiness she was mistaken. It only enhanced what she was trying to hide. She stepped back gesturing for him to enter. With a fevered prayer for control he entered and took a deep breath as he passed her. Her usually seductive scent was replaced by the sweet smell of a woman newly showered. Mitchell waited for her to close the door then followed her down the hall and into a spacious living area.

Stopping in the doorway, he took in the room done in robust shades of burnt orange and red offset by a deeper shade of blue. Light from the sun spilled from the huge bay windows encompassing the one wall across the various furnishings in the room. Chailyn walked over to the burnt orange couch and sat a set expression on her face. When she looked at him Mitchell saw something in her expression he didn't expect to see-fear. Unsure what could have put that expression on her face Mitchell walked over to join her. He sat next to her.

Chailyn frowned. "Would you like an appetizer? Dinner will be ready in a few minutes."

She reached forward onto the fancy glass table in front of the couch to pick up the tray of various finger foods. Mitchell watched as she reseated herself further away from him. Her startled exclamation didn't stop him as he took the tray from her and put it back down.

He turned to face her and he frowned at the leery look she was giving him. “Why are you so jumpy around me?”

Chailyn blew out a breath then. “I’m attracted to you and I know it’s a bad idea. We’re working on this project together but we’re competitors. That means after this we go back to that and us being involved it can get messy.”

Mitchell smiled. “I’m attracted too.” He studied her lips. “And messy can be good.” He sobered. “But not in business. I don’t do that in business. But from what I have seen from the last few weeks and heard about you through the years we have been competitors you let business be business. So, I don’t see a problem with that. We keep what is business just business and what we have here as personal.”

Chailyn studied him then her lids partially lowered over those captivating eyes. “Just Business for business. And personal for this. I can do that.”

He hardened at that look. Then again, he was always turned on when he was near her. That was not like him. He’d been around many beautiful women but there was something about Chailyn that made him want more. He had no idea what but was willing to find out.

“Good.” Mitchell paused. “And the first personal.”

He leaned down and kissed her. The taste of her for the first time was even better than he imagined. She moved closer and Mitchell pulled her into him. She fit against him and he moaned at the feel of her against him. They kissed lazily and he moved closer but stopped. He wanted to know her first before anything else. Mitchell gentled the kiss and pulled back looking into those glazed eyes. He smoothed his hand down her cheeks then took another quick kiss before sitting back.

“So now that is out the way.” He smiled. “Tell me something personal.”

“I could tell you what I’m thinking in my personal thoughts.” Chailyn wiggled her eyebrows.

Mitchell laughed. She made him laugh too. The woman was turning out to be a very pleasing distraction. One he didn’t mind at all. To think a few weeks ago he was cursing her name for becoming part of the project. Now he enjoyed working on it with her.

  “Let’s start slow.”

She muttered something too low for him to catch.

  “What?”

“Slow is overrated.” Chailyn picked up the tray again and offered it to him.

He took an appetizer and watched her as he took a bite. The juices of the food dribbled down the corner of his mouth and he licked it. Chailyn followed the motion with her gaze and she moaned.

“I like slow.” Mitchell took another bite then said. “Builds the anticipation.”

“That’s overrated too.” She leaned back.

Mitchell laughed. Chailyn was methodological when she worked taking it slow so she got every detail just right but once she did, it was all speed ahead. She was a planner then once in place nothing stopped her from implementing it. He admired that about her. Thinking how she would apply that part of her personality to them, he was anticipating their time together. It was going to be very interesting.

Mitchell straightened and stifled a groan. He’d been sitting in one spot to long. He stretched and looked at the design he was working on. He was pleased with it.

  “Mitchell.”

He stifled a groan at the sound of Sasha’s voice. She was still battling with Nicolas and he wasn’t getting involved.

“Yes.” He said and picked up his pencil hoping she would get the hint.

  “Nic—"

“Stop.” He turned to her and said. “You and Nicolas need to work it out.”

  She opened her mouth.

  “I mean it.”

Sasha closed her mouth then asked. “If you would let me finish I would say that Nicolas told me to pass on he wouldn’t be back for your meeting. He was caught up in the project he is working on.” She looked at him. “Am I really that bad; about complaining about him, you wouldn’t even let me speak?”

  “Yes.”

Sasha inclined her head. “I’ll make note of it for the future.”

  “Good.”

  Sasha stood there.

  “Is there anything else?”

“Would you like to have dinner with me?”

“I have plans with Chailyn.” In the next moment, it dawned on Mitchell what Nicolas had been trying to tell him weeks ago. “Sa—"

She lifted a hand. “No need to get all…well talk about it.” She smiled. “I tried and failed.”

She turned and walked away. Mitchell sat stunned he had missed it. He frowned wondering if that was why she had given Chailyn such a hard time and wouldn’t put her through. She was protecting him because she thought she had the right too. When he had asked her, she never really said.

“Hey.” Chailyn strolled in. “I just saw Sasha in the hall. And she smiled at me and said congrats. You know she is weird right.”

Mitchell sighed. “I missed she liked me. And when I just told her we had plans she didn’t want to talk about it.”

“I don’t blame her. Lusting after your boss to be shot down. That would make me want to not talk about it too.” Chailyn came toward him. “Hopefully she won’t feel so uncomfortable she leaves.” Chailyn looked speculative. “I must give her my card.”

“No poaching my staff.” Mitchell thought of Sasha and what she meant for his company. “She’s not just an employee. She’s—"

He paused then left it without saying. Chailyn looked curious but didn’t push. Mitchell rose and gathered his things. Once he did they headed out. As they did, they talked about their day and their mutual project. By the time they arrived at the Dupree, the hottest supper club, they were laughing and ready for an enjoyable night. Mitchell stopped within the entranceway and glanced around at the elegant and tastefully decorated room. The place was packed as usual with people, some for intimate quite dinner for two, groups or parties of people. The main room was done in low lighting so that the candles placed around the restaurant cast a sexy glow. The colors were bold splashes of gold accented with hunter green through the dining area. The tables were set up so that everyone had privacy. At the far side of the room there was a dance floor and stage set up for entertainment. The club also featured a live band in an enormous room separated by a hallway for dancing so that the dinners were not disturbed. It had a larger stage in there. Mitchell had been here often enough he knew the layout of the place.

They approached the hostess stand and the woman there smiled warmly. “Welcome to Dupree. Good to see you again, Mitchell.” She reached out. “Sorry I didn’t get to come by the get-together a few weeks ago Chailyn.”

He looked at Chailyn. When he had suggested this place, she hadn’t said a word she knew one of the owners.

“Jules, we missed you.” Chailyn took her hands and they exchanged kisses on the cheeks. “Tariq cheated when we played Uno.”

“He’s so competitive. Man doesn’t like to lose.” Julianna Dupree laughed. “It’s a good thing when I am there I teach him how.”

The women laughed. Mitchell had witnessed the competitiveness in the man so he knew what they were saying. The women spoke about mutual friends and things they had experienced. Chailyn looked at him them smiled. She reached for him. He slid his hand into hers. He saw Julianna note it and when she realized this wasn’t business. He’d come here many times on business but since he didn’t date much never with a date.

“Let me see you to your table.” She turned.

They followed her and she led them to a booth near the stage. Julianna nodded and left them. Mitchell looked at Chailyn.

“Why didn’t you tell me you knew the Dupree’s?”

“Didn’t really think about it when you asked me to go out with you here.” She shrugged. “I helped along with one of my sisters who lives in McKingley to design this place.”

“Really.” Mitchell thought of how long the place had been in business. “That would have been a while ago.”

“Yes. Right after I came out of college.” She smiled. “My sister and I worked on it together. We even thought of going into business together.”

  “What happened?”

“We went to work for different firms so we could get experience and build contacts but as time went on our plans changed. She decided to move to McKingley and I moved here. I started my firm here with Tariq. She joined Edge Design Group.”

“I know of them.” He said.

That was an understatement. The firm was known both in US and internationally and when he bid on those contracts his company and theirs were usually the ones on short list.

“Yeah. Now you’re thinking on it. I bet you’re thinking you didn’t realize that there was another Kincaid woman who was winning bids against you.” She laughed.

He hadn’t yet but would have eventually. “So, you are a pain to me here in the US and your sister internationally. There is no escaping you Kincaid’s.” He teased.

“Nope. And soon I will also be internationally too.” She smiled.

That sharp take no prisoners smile made his blood heat. The look in her eyes and her whole demeanor when she was focused on what she was doing was all an aphrodisiac.

“So, tell me what you mean by that?” He leaned back and got ready to enjoy another great night with her.

  * * *

Hours later he escorted her to her front door. He held her hand and swung it as they walked to her front door and up the steps.

“It’s the weekend and I’m so glad.” Chailyn rolled her shoulders. “It’s been a long week.”

“Yeah.” Mitchell frowned. “Driscoll is still being—"

“Overly cautious since the leak about us working together.” Chailyn frowned and released his hand before opening her door. “I still don’t know how that happened.”

“No idea.” He scowled. “We’re checking to see what happened.”

“We are too.” Chailyn turned in the open door toward him. “I’ll let you know what I find.”

“I’ll let you know too.” Mitchell leaned down.

Chailyn lifted her head and met him. He slid his hands along her hips pulling her against him. She opened and the taste that was all her filled his mouth. He couldn’t get enough of her. Chailyn fisted her hands into his hair and deepened the kiss. He groaned and tightened his hold on her. Chailyn jerked back and she breathed harshly.

“Come in.” She stepped back pivoted and walked away.

Mitchell followed and closed the door behind him. There was low lighting on and he assumed there was timed lights. He strode to her and caught her yanking her around. He grabbed her up and stared into those mysterious heavily lashed amber with flecks of green eyes. The desire in them was plain and he wanted to see them go unfocused as he brought her to release.

He lifted her and hitched her skirt of her dress up and she wrapped her legs around him. Chailyn moaned and rubbed against him. Her heated body against his made him shiver with need. Chailyn licked his lips then pulled back.

“Upstairs. Put me down. It might look all romantic and shit in movies or books but I want to make it to bed without one of us breaking our neck.” Chailyn smiled.

Mitchell refused to release her and headed for the stairs. He went up the steps with her in his arms.

“Okay you are proving me wrong.” Chailyn laughed.

He reached the landing and waited.

“Left at the end of the hall.”

He went where she stated following the recessed lights down the hall. Soon he was at the partially opened door. She pushed it open and they went in. Mitchell took her to the bed and set her next to it. Chailyn reached for him and removed his shirt. He did the same
with her. They silently removed each other’s clothing. When he reached her underwear, he cupped her breast smoothing his finger along the fabric of her bra. He unhooked the bra and removed it. Mitchell bent and lifted her breast and kissed the areola before sucking in the nipple. Chailyn moaned and slid her hands into the back of his hair gripping the strands. He went to the other breast and did the same.

  “Mitchell.” She moaned.

He slid his hand under her panties and in between where she was waiting for him. He touched her softness and she widened her legs. He dipped his fingers inside and she rocked into his touch. Mitchell moved his hand and she whimpered. The sound broke his control and he pulled out then took off her underwear. Then he took care of the rest of his clothing. He grabbed a condom from his slacks pocket before he turned and guided her back to the bed. He lowered her to the bed and moved her upward until she was against the pillows. Chailyn widened her legs and moaned as she looked at him. Mitchell opened then smoothed the condom on before he blanketed her body with his.

  “Chailyn.” He said softly.

She ran her feet against the back of his calves. “Now.”

He took her urging and stroked into her. She moaned and arched hard against him. The sweet clench of her body on his made him lose his breath. He thrust and watched her eyes go glassy and unfocused.

  “Yes. That’s it.” He whispered.

She whimpered and tightened around him. Mitchell moved fast and deep. Each hitch of her breath and each sound she made drove him on and he felt each deep within his gut. The need for more filled him and he lifted up and braced his elbows on either side of her head as he jerked his hips. Chailyn gripped his upper arms and countered his motion with her own.

“Chailyn.” He grunted as he took her.

  “Mitchell.” She said breathlessly.

He increased his motions and his heart raced. A heat built in his lower belly and then his sac went tight.

“Chailyn.” He stroked and went stiff.
