“My father will also be actively involved as co-owner of this company, so Kain will definitely be dealt with-if and when he steps out of line with you or your coworkers… or any mortal for that matter. As my father is not one to mess with when it comes to the safety and wellbeing of mankind.” Cross walked with me as I headed towards the bathroom to freshen up.
Cross waited for me outside the bathroom while I washed my face. He had already moved into his enormous office that took up at least half of our floor in the building. While I was fixing my hair and makeup, Reina walked up to the sink next to me and looked at me with a look of disgust and jealousy. “Now what?” I thought to myself. She did not seem like herself lately. She seemed more distant and bitchier-bitchier than normal. I sensed something was up. I knew she and Kain were fucking around. That was no secret there.
“I see your man has bought out the company and have promoted you to his executive personal assistant. And I’m the whore of the office, heh? You literally fucked the new owner, and next thing we know you are his executive personal assistant and on his first day. Funny how things work, heh?” she said with such hatred and jealousy in her voice.
“I did not fuck my way to the top like you did with Kain, but I see you are in the same old position you’ve always been and aren’t going nowhere. You are the one who is the fool here, not me. You are the one who bends over when Kain flashes his sexy smile or ready to hop on his dick when he whips it out. You ought to be ashamed of yourself Reina. What are you doing? How can you do this to yourself? To Ashley? What kind of mother are you?!” I said to her with such disgust.
“Don’t you dare bring my daughter into this! You know nothing about me and what I must do to get by! You know nothing about my relationship with Kain! So, how dare you judge me like that?!” She shouted back. But it was true, and she knew all that I said was the ugly truth. She just couldn’t handle it.
As I left the bathroom in anger, Cross grabbed hold of me and held me close to him while we walked back to his office. Once we were there, he closed the blinds so that we could have some privacy. Looking deeply into my eyes, he brushed his large thumb across my lower lips and lowered his head to softly kiss me. Flicking his tongue slowly, as he pulled me into him, holding me tightly. Tears ran down my cheeks and he kissed them away.
“Do not worry about your stuff. I have sent someone to pack up your old office and bring your personal belongings to your new one. For now, stay with me and I will protect you,” he said softly as he kissed me deeply.
Holding onto to him tightly, not wanting to let go, I looked up into his soft, gorgeous eyes and was immediately lost within them. He was looking down at me with such tenderness in his eyes, it melted my heart. No man had ever looked after me like he had nor had any man ever gone out his way to make sure I was okay and happy. He was the first ever to do any of that for me, which most definitely said something.
Things I read about in novels or saw in movies were nothing like this-when the vampire saves the poor helpless, mortal girl and then falls madly and deeply in love with her, doing anything to save her. But this was so much more than any of that. All that was pure fiction and this here was real life. You couldn’t make this up in a movie or TV show or even books. Kissing him back softly, I said in a soft whisper, “I love you Cross”
He kissed me back, then pulled away and looked deep into my eyes. He said, “I love you too, my gorgeous goddess.” He pulled me into him and held me close to his heart.
CHAPTER THIRTEEN: CROSS
I was fuming on the inside, ready to kill Kain for what he had done and said to my goddess, Scerina. I was filled with such a rage that I had never ever felt before, but for her sake I kept a tight lid on it. I did not want to upset her any further. I just wanted to hold her close to me and never let her go-protect her and keep her safe, make her happy and take away all her pain. It killed me that I could not do anything about it any sooner, but our law forbade us to do harm unto another one of our kind, especially if it was murder-the ultimate death sentence there. Even if they deserved it, we could not murder our own kind.
I could not wait for Father to join me in the office so that we could handle Kain appropriately. We could not let him continue working here. We would have to find some way to get rid of him without breaking any of our laws, or mortal laws for that matter. It was a very complicated situation, but it had to be dealt with immediately, as swiftly as possible while making sure the mortal world was unaware and unaffeced by it. He had already sired some of the mortals, especially the one named Reina. Once sired, their minds could be manipulated and controlled by Kain. Their souls were also endangered for, if he wanted he could have them commit some major sin that was unforgivable. The sired ones were literally his play things to do as he wished.
I held my gorgeous goddess close to me. I was deep in thought. Her little fingers twirled my hair around as she relaxed in my arms, staring out of the window. As if she, too, was deep in thought. How I hated seeing her being so upset and troubled. I kissed the top of her head softly and she looked up to smile warmly at me. I was grateful to be with her in the office, and grateful she was no longer alone with my evil twin brother Kain.
A few moments of peace went by, then there was a soft knock on the door and in came Amber Lynn. It was a real pleasure to see her there as well. Seeing her best friend, Scerina lit up, ran over to her and hugged, her tightly. Unaware of what was going on and unexpecting such a huge and warm welcome, Amber Lynn smiled brightly and said “Congratulations on becoming our new boss, Cross. And a very special congratulation to you, Scerina sweetheart, on getting promoted to executive personal assistant to your new love!!! I am extremely happy for you both!!!!”
Amber Lynn had always been a ray of sunshine to Scerina and always at her side throughout her life. She was a huge supporter of our relationship.
Smiling warmly at Amber Lynn, I said, “Thank you my dear. I just happen to specialize in this kind of business and saw this company was not doing so well financially. It is clear Scerina enjoys this job and it makes her very happy. I did not want to see her out of work doing what she loves most, so I decided to buy it out and become the new owner.”
“WOW! I had no idea we were in financial trouble. Well, thank you for saving our asses there, Cross. You are most definitely a knight in shining armor in more ways than just one,” Amber Lynn said with such gratitude and appreciation in her voice.
“Yes, my baby stepped up to the plate to help save all our jobs when our company was in serious financial trouble. I heard Donald Trump was about to buy it out If my love didn’t step in. Thank God for that ,heh?” Scerina said smiling warmly at me.
“Donald Trump? No way?! Seriously?! Man, if that did happen we all would have been royally fucked for sure! He would have fired us all!” Amber Lynn said as she burst out laughing
“Well, I just came by to congratulate you both and welcome you to the office and our company, Cross, and I hope you enjoy working with us. I truly hope that we are not too much for you, but I’m sure you can handle us all and then some,” Amber Lynn said with a warm smile
“Oh, I am sure I can more than handle you all and anything that comes along the way,” I said proudly, which was true-I would handle anything that came along, especially Kain.
“Well, I need to get back to my office and help Reina out with something. I’ll see you both later!” Amber Lynn said as she left the office and closed the door behind her.
Once the door was closed, I turned my attention back to Scerina. “What do you want for lunch, my love? Chinese? Italian? Mexican? We can have anything you like,” I looked down at her tenderly.
“I am in the mood for some Greek, my love. I haven’t had that in a very long time,” she said, smiling at me warmly.
I got up to walked over to the computer to google a local Greek restaurant. She sat up to watch me quietly as I ordered our lunch. Well, her lunch, since I don’t eat what she eats.
When the food arrived, I sa
t and watched her eat. I let her eat in peace, deep in thought and still trying to figure out a way to bring down Kain once and for all. It occurred me that my father and I just might have to go to the council about this. It might be something that was out of our hands.
Another thought occurred to me. What if our mother Queen Evangeline was behind this? It was so unlike Kain to go to such extremes. Normally, he would do minor, harmless meddling in the mortal world, but never anything so extreme. Something was up, and the more I thought about it, the more nervous I became. My mother had to be behind this. Her claws were all over this. I needed to talk to my father, and soon. This was something I could not keep from him.
If Queen Evangeline did have a hand in any of this, this would mean the council would need to step in and handle her themselves. But what could my mother ever gain from this? What did she want with this little company? Or more importantly, why did she care so much about my Scerina? But then again that might just be Kain, as he always did want what I wanted. But who could say that my mother was not after Scerina as well? And to what end?
Queen Evangeline was a very powerful witch who seduced my father King Andreas into turning her into a vampire a thousand years ago. She put a spell on him that one fateful night where he was under her spell as they made passionate love. In a moment of passion, he bit her and exchanged blood with her which led to her becoming a vampire. What he did not know was she was already immortal. She was a powerful witch, and by becoming a vampire she had become even more powerful.
Something was seriously wrong and I could feel it deep in my bones. My father was due to come in for an office visit to check out the new business that he had acquired, as well as to meet Scerina. Once he was here, I would tell him about my fears and worries. He would know what to do in the end, I was sure of it.
For now, I must focus on my gorgeous goddess and take care of her.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN: SCERINA
It was Saturday morning and I was at Cross’s father’s castle. Cross was catching his father up on the latest news about Kain. He also told him of his suspicions on his mother’s involvement in all this drama. While Cross talked, his father looked at me, studying me with those, intense blue eyes that were as bright as his twin sons’.
“So, you see, Father, why it is absolutely important that we take this to the elders immediately. They must decide what we should do next without disturbing the mortal world.”
“You did not tell me that you planned to marry your charge, a woman who is your responsibility,” Cross’s father snapped at him – “Getting personally involved with her interferes with your mission as her Guardian Angel. You were not sent into the mortal world to start a relationship with your mortal charge, or any mortals for that matter,” he said.
Hearing this, my heart dropped and my eyes widened in disbelief. That right there said it all – Cross’s father would never approve of me or my relationship with his son. In his eyes, I was nothing but a plain mere mortal woman, who needed his son as a sort of babysitter. Fighting back the tears that threatened, to spill, it took everything in me to hold my composure - to hide that his words had shattered my heart into a million pieces. I remained quiet, watching as the King and Cross continued to talk.
“Father, I am well aware of my duties to Scerina and what I must do, but how can I just ignore how I feel about her? If anything, I feel I would do a much better job as her guardian angel if we were together as husband and wife. Don’t you think?”
“It doesn’t matter what I think my son, what matters is her safety and all of mankind’s.” The King continued, “Love will only interfere with your business in the mortal world,” he said bluntly. “She is not your only charge. You have other responsibilities to other mortals, not just her alone. This attachment you feel for her will soon pass. It is only a phase. You cannot let this get in the way of your work. As for Kain, let me handle him. You are right to suspect your mother. She and Kain are very close and I have received word that she is planning something big that will involve the mortal world. So, you see why it is absolutely important that you end this relationship with Scerina and have a clear head We will need you more than ever now. This will be a great battle and you are my strongest warrior, I cannot afford to lose you due to the distraction of love and a relationship with a mortal.”
Bowing his head, Cross said “Yes, Father.” He turned around and walked toward me. He took me in his arms as I burst into tears.
Once we reached his room, he held me close to him. “I will find some way around this,” Cross promised me then, “I will find a way for us to be together, my love. My father is very hard headed and set in his ways. He does not like change, especially when it involves love and getting involved with a mortal’s world,” He kissed the top of my head.as I continued to cry into his chest.
No matter how comforting he tried to sound, it did not feel so sure in my heart. This was a whole other world. A world of vampires and his father was the Vampire King. How could Cross get around this when his father was the King? Not only did I have Kain and their mother to worry about, now I had this looming over my heart like a dark cloud. My heart broke into a million pieces and shattered all over the cold concrete ground.
“How can you find a way when your father is the King?” I pleaded with Cross. “I would assume his word is the law, not to mention you are about to go into a big battle against your mother, who is a powerful witch? And Vampire Queen?” The warmth of his body embraced me, but brought little comfort.
“I have a sister who is an oracle and also a witch.” Cross explained.
“She has told me that you and I are destined to be together. She told me there is a prophecy that foretells a story of a Vampire Prince and mortal woman who will not only save humanity, but also bring peace between our kind and your kind.”
“She has assured me that the Vampire Prince and mortal woman are you and me.”
“Right now, my father is not aware of such a prophecy, but my sister said she is going to talk to him to let him know that you and I are destined to be together.”
“We are the ones who will bring peace amongst the mortal world and supernatural world.”
As he said this he laid back with me in his arms, holding me close to him. I wrapped my arms around him tightly. Who was I to question the oracle who could see into the future, and a witch at that? Hearing all this calmed me down a great deal, but there was still much to fear and worry about. My love was about to enter a great big battle for the protection of humanity against not just his twin brother…
But his mother, a powerful witch, Vampire Queen Evangeline.
NOCTURNIA: THE PROPHECY
PROLOQUE: FAIRUZA
I was at Father’s throne that night with urgent news for him. My father had a look on his face that he was not in the mood for games or nonsense-not that I ever wasted any of his time. I always went to him with anything important that he should know. I had heard he did not approve of my brother Cross’s love for the beautiful mortal Scerina, but little did my father know they were supposed to be together. It was prophesized that they would not only bring peace and harmony between the mortal world and the supernatural world, but she would be the mother of a new generation of vampires, a new breed of vampires called “Nocturnians”.
“Father, I come to you with urgent news. I just had a vision, a prophecy that will affect both the mortal world and supernatural world. It involves dear brother Cross and his mortal charge Scerina”
“What is it my child?”
“Scerina is a direct descendant of a powerful witch bloodline called the Moon Goddesses of Eternia”
Hearing this news, my father stood up and walked toward me with look of surprise. “How is this so? How was I not informed of this any sooner?”
“I did not know of any of this till just recently.” I explained.
“Then we must protect them at all cost. Bring them to me at once.”
As soon as he said that, I immediately ran to Cross
s room. Father needed to see both Scerina and Cross.
Once we were all with Father, he informed of us of the news I had brought him.:
Hearing this, Scerina eyes widened with surprise and shock.
“Father, I was aware that we are destined to be together and are supposed to be the great protectors of the mortal world, but we never knew we would give birth to a new breed of vampires who will be the next generation of vampire hybrids?” Cross was aware of the first part of the prophecy, but he was not aware of the full prophecy. .
Cross looked at me in shock and surprise.
“I am sorry I did not foresee that until just now as I was speaking with father”
As happy as they were to hear that they could finally be together, they had much to prepare for, Scerina needed to receive proper training in preparation for awakening any dormant powers. This would require a ritual ceremony.
“Scerina you will be receiving training in how to use and control your dormant witch powers once I will reawaken them deep in you” I said. “I will need to perform the ritual tonight since it is a blood moon, the perfect time for such a ritual.”
“Yes, of course. I totally understand.” Scerina touched my shoulder softly with softness in her eyes.
“I want to thank you for being there for me and helping me through all of this.”
“This is all so new and scary to me. Next to Cross, you have been the only other soul who have truly been there for me.” She hugged me tightly.
“It is a pleasure. You are after all our future savior and the love of my dear brother life. For him, I will do anything especially in regard to your safety and future.”
“I must go now, I will need to prepare. Please excuse me while I go gather the ingredients I will be needing for the potion to use in the ceremony.”
