Life Altering Beautiful Page 21

by T. A. Hardenbrook

I had to rush once I picked up the food and dropped it off at the gym to my hair appointment. My phone starts ringing about five till two, “I know, I’m almost there I promise” I say to Tammy. “Well if you don’t hurry your slow poke ass up you are going to miss your toes appointment” she says in a huff. “Wait I thought it was just hair, and how come you can be on time for this but when we lived together you couldn’t get to class at the right time to save your soul?”

“Beauty is the key to a successful life Seven, I wouldn’t miss this for the world” she laughs and hangs up as I pull into the parking lot. This better not take too long I mumble to myself as I lock the truck to head inside.

Two hours later I was rushing to the truck, people would be arriving at the gym anytime now and I wasn’t even there. I quickly unlock the cab and jump in “Don’t ruin your hair” Tammy yells as she walks out of the salon. I scowl at her through the window as I fumble trying to get the keys in the ignition and hurry back to the gym. I keep sneaking a glance of myself in the mirror, they did an amazing job on me today, and for once I actually felt pretty enough to be Stone’s girlfriend. My long red hair had been curled into soft waves and slightly pulled up on one side. The makeup glittered on my face and I couldn’t wait to get to the gym to slip on my emerald green maxi dress. I felt sophisticated and grown up tonight, and I was sure Stone was going to fall head over heels in love with me.

I notice several cars in the gym parking lot, popsicles I mutter as I quickly run to the door. “Cinderella you’re late” Jason jokes with me as I come running through the gym. “Don’t make me throw a shoe at you” I yell back as I sprint to the office to change quickly. Slamming the door I start to strip my clothes off before I realize my bag is still out front. “Shit” I curse as I poke my head out the door. “Jason………….anybody” I yell. “Yes Cinderella, your wicked step-sister awaits at your beckon call” come’s Jason’s voice in a high pitched tone. “My bag, it’s by the counter please!”

“One minute your highness” he yells back. Nothing like standing naked in the office to top off the day. I start to pace around the small room, wondering what in the world could be taking so long. Suddenly the door flies open and Jason stands their mouth open gaping at a very naked me. “Jason” I scream as my hands quickly come up to cover my breasts. “My bad Seven” he says while closing his eyes and dropping the bag. “Well close it” I yell as he continues to stand there. Jason quickly reaches out for the door handle, missing it several times before he shuts it. “Um this stays between us right, I really don’t feel like getting my ass kicked” he says on the other side of the door. “Never happened buddy” I yell as I throw my dress over my head, this is what I get for working with a bunch of guys.

People started to arrive and I played the good hostess while waiting for Stone. “Have you heard from your brother” I ask Tammy as she mixes herself a drink. “Nope sorry; cocktail” she asks while holding her martini up. “No thanks, one of us has to drive home tonight” I laugh as I check my phone for the umpteenth time tonight. No sooner had I set my phone down did Stone and his dad coming strolling through the door. A round of applause erupted as Stone started towards me, I couldn’t help but feel giddy at the handsome looking man almost standing in front of me.

“Thanks everyone” he waves before pulling me in close and places a hard passionate kiss on my lips. “Baby your amazing” he says while pulling away. I manage a smile because this man has left me breathless. “You look absolutely stunning tonight Seven” as he twirls me around for a better view. “You like” I ask meekly. “Baby I love you in anything, but tonight you take the cake” as he winks and leans in to steal another kiss. “Seven you look gorgeous tonight’ Steven says as he holds his arms out for a hug. “Thanks dad” as I step into his arms.

  “Ah you called me dad.”

Stone and I both laugh at the comment; it’s only taken me forever to get comfortable enough to call him that. “Congratulations man, Seven your dress looks amazing on your super buff body” as Jason comes up and slaps Stone’s back while sending me a private smirk. I can’t help but roll my eyes at this man; he was going to get his ass beat if he kept on dropping lines like that in front of Stone. “Back off Jason, she’s mine” he says while staring deep into my eyes. I can’t help but let myself blush; this man had a way of turning me five million different shades of red with just one look.

  Stone

The party was fantastic, I was so proud that Seven had pulled it all together on her own. I kept stealing glances at the woman I was going to call my wife; hopefully this Christmas I would pop the question. I just had to wait two more weeks before I was able to get on one knee and asked her the most important question of our lives. “Excuse me everyone” I yell loudly. The gym falls to a hushed silence as I climb the steps to the cage to get a better leverage for seeing everyone.

“I want to say thank you to every that came down tonight, without the love and support you all have shared with me theses past four years I would have never made it to this point.

Dad, I want to say thank you for pushing me to pledge; I had some of the best years with those guys and made some great friendships that will last forever. Thank you Jason for taking me under your wing my freshman year and letting me be part of your gym family. Hunter you are the brother I never had and really never wanted, thank you for sticking by me through thick and thin. I truly love you brother.

My loving brat of a sister, you have been the biggest pain in my ass since you started high school, but without your pestering I wouldn’t have found the love of my life.” Closing my eyes I had to take a moment to breathe, what I was about to say would change our relationship forever. “Seven, when you walked down the steps the first night at my frat house I was instantly blown away from your beauty. However nothing could have prepared me for how undeniably amazing your soul was when I got to know you. You were like a beacon of light in my dark life; I really didn’t realize what I was missing till you came into my world. Baby you are it for me, my life is complete when I have you in it. Seven Jean Mayfield I love you.”

The room stayed silent as Seven and I lock eyes, it didn’t matter that there was anyone else in the building; Seven was the only person that I truly cared to be around. “I love you too” she mouths as I walk over to her. Grasping her cheek I lean down to bring her lips to mine; letting the passion consume my soul, this woman was without a doubt was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Hoots and hollers were being thrown around as I wrapped my arms around her waist and twirled her around in a circle. “Get a room” Hunter yells out from the crowd, as Seven breaks our kiss to giggle. The sound of her laughter is music to my ears. “I love you Seven, and I have for a very long time” I whisper into her ear as her feet slowly touch the ground. “You’ve made me the happiest girl in the world” she says before I claim her mouth as mine again.

“Did you have a good party baby” Seven asks as she gathers cups to throw into the garbage. “I’m so lucky I have you” as I toss an empty food tray into the trash. “Your right, I’m pretty amazing” she jokes as a cup is thrown at my head. “Oh don’t start something you can’t finish little girl” grabbing a handful of chips still left in a bowl. Seven gives me a sly smile and its game on! I toss the chips at her while she reaches for the dip container, needless to say the gym is covered by the time we were done destroying each other.

Sitting on the floor next to the cage I couldn’t help but laugh at the amount of crap stuck in her perfect hair. “This is so gross” she whines as she picks a celery stick from her curls. “You started it” I say with a smile. “Whatever I’m not cleaning this up” she laughs and looks around the disaster of a gym. “How about I pay the pledges to clean it up tomorrow” as I open my phone to make the call.

“Um Stone, first you are a graduate and second they are no longer pledges.”

“Fuck your right” I sigh while slowly standing and offering my hand to help her up.
What happened out here” Jason says as he walks out of his office, both of us quickly pointing at the other. “Whatever you two” he scowls and grabs a knocked over bowl on the floor. “Get out of here” Jason smiles at the two of us. “No we can help, it’s our fault anyways” Seven says as she starts to pick up the mess. “Consider it a thank you for earlier” as he winks at Seven who instantly turns red. “Am I missing something” I question. “Nope” they both say quickly. “You guys are weird, you heard the man Seven let’s get out of here” as I grab her hand and pull her too the door. “Thanks Jason” Seven yells from the doorway. “Not a problem, Congrats buddy! Oh and I need your help for a little while tomorrow Stone” Jason flashing me a look of desperation. “No problem buddy, I’ll swing by in the morning.”

“I want you home in our bed and naked” as I push her up against the grill of Ol’ Red.

  “You’re so sexy.”

“Do I smell like ranch baby” she giggles as my lips touch the soft spot behind her ear.

“No but I have a carrot we can stick into it.”

“Your so cheesy Stone” she laughs and pushes me away. “Come on, let’s get home and shower, if you’re a good boy I’ll let you join me and wash my unmentionables” while giving me a naughty smile. Shit getting home was going to take way too long tonight.

I heard my phone buzz with a text the next morning, seriously Jason couldn’t wait till later as I pull myself out of bed and over to the desk to grab my phone.

  *Jason* Hey you up yet.

I was now asshole, as I quickly punch out a reply to him. Looking down at Seven sleeping so peaceful I had a sudden urge to jump on her and wake her up, but I was going to be nice since I kept her up late last night doing horrible things over and over again.

I let the images of last night run through my mind as I head to the shower; the visuals I remember would give me plenty of aid while I took care of myself this morning. My phone buzzes several times as I wash the remnants of last night down the drain, and I can only imagine what job Jason needs from me this morning if he is already starting in this early. After finishing my grooming habits I unlock my cell to see what Jason has left me.

Great I mummer as I see a familiar address on my screen. “Morning” Seven’s grumbles as she wanders into the bathroom. “Morning little one, I’ve got an errand to run, but it won’t take me long” I say as I place a kiss into her hair. “Can I come with you” she asks while squeezing toothpaste out of the tube. “Um yeah I guess” as I shrug my shoulders. If she stays in the truck nothing could happen, as I try and fight the uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Pulling up to the bar I couldn’t shake the feeling I had earlier, something wasn’t right here. There wasn’t a single other car in the parking lot out front, and even this little dive bar normally had a few bikes parked outside. “Just wait here, I’ll be right back” I tell Seven as I get out of the truck. “Hurry” she exclaims as I shut the door.

“Lock it” I mouth to her, and she leans over to the driver’s side and pushes down the button. I had to make this quick I tell myself while heading to the door, in and out is the game plan.

The bar was darker than normal, a real eerie feeling to it hung in the atmosphere. The guy who I come to know as Jackson was standing behind the bar like he had been waiting for me. “Got the cash” I ask casually as I step up to the counter. Jackson tosses a plain envelope on the bar “I only have half right now, come back tomorrow for the rest” his voice is cold as he messes with something under the counter. “Look Jason said it was a full pick up” as I stare at the envelop sitting in front of me.

“Well it’s not, if it’s going to be a problem why don’t you get Jason down here himself to deal with it.”

“You know that’s not how is works” as I start to realize something really wasn’t right here.

“Well it’s all I got” as I hear the clicking noise under the ledge.

I instantly recognize the sound being made and my blood turns ice cold. Growing up on a ranch I know what a glock sounds like, and this moment was going to make me want to piss my pants right here.

Slowly I grab the envelope and take a step back. “Hey man no reason to get angry” as I stuff the envelope into my back pocket and raise my hands in front of my chest. “Get down on your knees with your hands in the air” Jackson yells at me as he raises his gun in the air and takes aim at my body.

“Hey man just let me go, I’ll tell Jason he can work it out with you tomorrow” as I feel my chest tightening with fear. There is nothing like looking at a loaded gun that’s being pointed at you to make you realize your priorities, and this wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. How was I ever going to support Seven with a bullet hole in my head?

“Get down on your knees” Jackson screams again. Closing my eyes I lower myself to the ground, “This can’t be the end” I mutter while a single tear escapes from my eye.

Suddenly the door swings open behind me, “Sheriff’s department” a loud voice yells into the room. My body is instantly smashed into the ground from someone behind me. “Don’t move, just relax” comes a voice as he places the cuffs on me. “Seven” I yell out in panic. “She is already in custody” the guy says as he pulls me to my feet. “You don’t understand, she has nothing to do with this. You have to let her go” I plead as the tears now freely flow down my cheeks. “Sorry son, I have no control over it” an older gentleman says as he escorts me over to a stool and instructs me to sit.

My heart breaks knowing Seven is outside in cuffs. I mentally curse at myself for bringing her along today, it was just a quick in and out job I had told myself, what could go wrong with her staying in the truck. I’m a fucking idiot. “Got what you need” the older guy says to Jackson. “Yeah go ahead and take him in. Wait till I get there to question him though” as he slides off his biker vest and puts on a sheriff’s department jacket. “Let’s go” the guy pulls me to a standing position as he drags me out the door.

The sunshine is too bright when I step outside, causing me to squint my eyes as I lower my head to the ground. I watch as my truck is being searched then quickly look around for Seven. My breathing starts to pick up when I realize I can’t find her in the mass of cars and people. “My girlfriend, please tell me she’s okay” I beg the officer who is leading me over to a patrol car.

“The red head in your truck?”

I shake my head yes, unable to make the words come out of my mouth.

“They took her in a little while ago.”

I duck my head and fall into the waiting squad car, how was I ever going to explain this to her now.

  Seven

Something didn’t feel right as I watch the clock waiting for Stone to come back outside. I didn’t start to freak out till the lights from several police cars and SUVs come barreling into the parking lot, surrounding the building and the truck. “Get your hands up” a loud voice comes over a speaker outside. Holy shit I think they are talking to me as I raise my hands into the air in terror.

The passenger’s door was quickly ripped open and I was forcefully pulled out of the truck and pushed into the ground. “What is going on, what did I do” I shriek as my hands are being ripped behind me and cuffed. “You’re under arrest” the officer says as she pats my body down. “What is going on is my boyfriend okay” I manage to say in-between sobs. “Get her out of here” a voice barks as they jerk me to a standing position. “Please I don’t understand” I beg the woman as she pulls me over to a car and push my head down to shove me inside.

The door slams and I’m left to watch the horror unfold in front of me. I could keep back the sobs that wrecked my body, I had no clue what was going on and if Stone was safe or not. Suddenly the car starts to pull away, and I was left to watch the bar surrounded by all the police fade into the distance.

I was led into the police station after being read my rights. I’ve never been in this situation as my mind wanders to the worst case scenario available. “You can h
ave a seat right there” the officer points to a hard plastic chair sitting on the wall. I nod my head and slowly lower myself to the seat, trying hard to muffle the soft sobs that had now replaced the louder ones. “She was at the bust we did today, I think they want to question her” I hear the officer say to the man behind the counter. “I’ll process her and place her in holding” the other guy says as he turns to look at me.

There was no compassion in his eyes, they were as black as night. I had to remember they dealt with criminals every day, this was all a misunderstanding and it would be all over soon once they realized their mistake. I close my eyes to try and save the little bit of sanity I was holding on to, this can’t be real.

After several hours of explaining I didn’t know anything on the booking ring that was being ran at the gym the officers finally were convinced I was innocent. I wasn’t about to tell them I had been shredding the papers for it for several weeks now, I just didn’t want to be involved with any of this anymore. “Your parents have bailed you out today. You are still going to need to find a lawyer if you choose to and show up to the court date that’s listed on your paperwork” the lady at the counter explains to me as she hands my paperwork and belongings back to me. “Thank you” I whisper as I pick up my stuff and head to the door. What was I going to do now?
