Lee got up, scooting the chair back, violently. “Can I at least get a glass of water before I go to prison ... for doing nothing?"
Ted waved toward the kitchen. “Water's free."
Lee passed him by. “I'm not!"
When Lee came out of the kitchen he was carrying two glasses of ice water, drinking one. He glared at Maggie, who was sitting in her chair leafing through a catalog, attempting to act like she didn't notice him as he walked by. He pounded down the hall. Slamming his door closed with his foot, he put the one glass down, then downed the other completely. He pulled the shorts off, flinging them into the corner. There were bright red creases around his thighs and waist. Falling down on the bed, he locked his arms across his chest and conjured up a vision of Maggie going into the Chutes without any tube.
