“It's beautiful.”
“So are you.” I turn to look at him. “Some people would say we haven’t known each other long. They’ll say we’re rushing things, but I think you and I know that we spent our entire lives searching for each other. Everything we did, every decision, every hurt, was all designed to bring us together.”
“I do believe that.”
“It’s been worth it. My darkest moment, my deepest pain, my tortured thoughts, all of them were worth the feeling of the sun on my face that is you.”
“Oh, Oliver, that's so sweet.”
A serious expression settles on his face. “The love I feel for you now is overwhelming in the best way. I can’t go another day without making sure you know how committed I am to this life with you.”
“I do know.”
He shakes his head. “Kaia,” he smiles as he kneels down on the ice. Other skaters slow down, creating a circle around us. “The only fantasy I have left is making you my wife. Will you marry me?”
I cover my mouth in shock, gazing down at him with teary eyes. “Oh my God.”
“Baby?”
“God, Oliver, of course. Yes. Absolutely, yes.”
He stands and pulls me into his arms as the gathered crowd claps for us. Oliver produces a diamond ring from his pocket, and I pull off my mittens so he can slide it on my finger. I look down and notice how it glimmers in the artificial light all around us.
“I bet it’s even prettier when the sun is shining,” I say.
“Kaia, baby, the sun is always shining.”
“PLEASE WELCOME RENOWNED sex therapist, Dr. Oliver Scott and his wife, Kaia.”
The audience claps and whistles as I take Kaia’s hand and lead her onstage. She waves and smiles, looking poised and confident. She’s far more comfortable than I expected.
We take our seats beside each other and wait for the audience to settle. I turn to them and speak. “Thank you for such a warm welcome for my lovely wife.”
They clap again and Kaia’s face shines with happiness.
“Thank you so much,” she says. “You’re so kind.”
“Today,” I say, “We’re going to talk about recreational Viagra use and the dangers involved.”
Kaia smiles. “We’ll meet with doctors and men who have firsthand experience. Please welcome our first guest to the stage…”
AFTER THE SHOW, I pull my gorgeous wife into my arms. “You did great out there. I always knew you were a natural.”
“I’m no doctor.”
“You didn’t need to be. You needed to be understanding and compassionate, which is exactly what you are.”
“So I did okay?”
“You were fantastic. My instinct to include you was absolutely correct. The audience ate you up.” I rub my nose against hers. “And now we can spend more time together.”
“You sure you won’t get tired of me?”
“Never.” I kiss her softly. “Two years since I met you and almost a year of marriage, I’m still excited to see you beside me every morning when I wake up.”
She smiles as I release her. “Do you ever miss the old days with me? When I taunted you into punishing me?”
I nod, slowly. “Sometimes.”
“It feels like a lifetime ago. I wonder if we could ever get that feeling back. So charged with electricity knowing we were both on the brink.”
“Why don’t we find out?”
“But I don’t have any rules to break,” she says, stroking the lapel of my suit. “What could I do to provoke you?”
I shake my head. “I bet we could up with something.”
She leans close and drags her tongue over my lips, causing me to sigh. “I want to see that intense look in your eyes again.”
“What do you want me to do to you?” I swallow hard as her hand reaches between my legs.
“I want to see how far we can go. What haven’t we explored yet? What fantasy are you still hiding? Show me.”
I reach down, hiking her dress up until my fingers are inside her panties. “Fuck, Kaia. You are so damn sexy.”
“I need you. Rough and hard. I want to see the marks in the morning. I want your teeth in my flesh.”
I rub her hard, pressing my thumb on her clit, breathing hard against her mouth.
She bites my bottom lip. “Take me home, Oliver. Let the beast out. I need my sugar.”
I nod, rubbing my thumb over her bottom lip. “You’re amazing, Kaia.”
“I’m yours, Oliver.”
We step outside and Kaia looks up to the sky, letting the sunshine wash over her. “Doesn’t it feel so good, Oliver? When the sun finds her way through the buildings and shines down on you?”
I pull her close, kissing her nose. “It’s the best feeling ever.”
