‘I don’t recognise that dress,’ he said and Chloe did a twirl on the spot; there was a split up one side of the dress which ran high up her thigh.
‘Do you like?’
‘Well of course I do, but where did it come from?’
Chloe pointed at half a dozen carrier bags at the foot of the bed and shrugged, ‘I went shopping.’
‘What!’ Dan’s voice was almost a shout and Chloe jumped. ‘Are you crazy? You could have been seen, what if Rufus had got you?’
He got out of bed and realised he was the only one of them naked; he grabbed the bed sheet and wrapped it around his waist.
Chloe walked over to him and wrapped her hands around his neck. ‘Relax baby, I was ultra-careful, constantly looking over my shoulder and scanning the crowds. I moved in wide circles always looking for anyone acting suspicious. We’re safe here.’
She kissed him and could feel how tense his body was. His reaction upset her; perhaps she should have waited until he was awake before going shopping but she had wanted to surprise him. Now though, sensing how upset he was she wondered if it had been worth it; maybe she had made a stupid mistake, he was right she could have been taken. Chloe felt a shiver shoot up her spine at that thought.
Chloe stroked his chest, ‘I was fine, no one followed me and there were armed police everywhere.’
‘But he might have taken you, where would I be now without you, what would I do, how would I cope?’ Dan said. ‘I don’t want to lose you.’
Chloe was shocked to see Dan’s eyes tear up, she hadn’t expected this; it was all going wrong.
‘Oh baby,’ she whispered and kissed his bottom lip lovingly. ‘I would have spotted a tail; I saw Rebecca didn’t I?’
She felt Dan relax slightly.
‘That’s right Dan; I was in control the whole time. I wanted to get you some stuff and we needed some personal items; deodorant, that sort of stuff. It was one hundred percent safe.’
Dan took her in his arms and kissed the top of her head and breathed in the scent of her shampoo.
‘Just don’t leave me again; from now on we go everywhere together.’
Chloe felt the tension leave the room and she poked him playfully in the ribs. ‘Even to the toilet.’
Dan laughed, ‘If I say so; even the toilet.’
‘Okay baby, I’ll stick to you like glue.’
‘Good, so what did you buy?’
Crazy, there’s a mad man out there that wants you dead.
‘Sit; I’ll show you.’
Dan sat on the edge of the bed.
‘I used my money to buy this dress, what do you think?’
‘Very nice,’ Dan said admiring her in the dress.
‘It’s satin; feel,’ she placed his hands on her breasts. ‘See; nice and smooth.’
‘Yeah. Are you wearing a bra?’
‘Not the last time I looked. Why do I need one?’
‘Surprisingly enough, no.’
‘I know; I’m graced with perfect tits.’
‘Perfect everything,’ Dan replied.
‘Thank you kind sir, flattery will get you everywhere.’
‘I’m only interested in getting in your knickers.’
Chloe slapped his hands away from her breasts and laughed. ‘You could if I were wearing any.’
She picked up one of the carrier bags, she purposefully resisted looking at his groin; she knew his cock was standing hard against the sheet. ‘I also bought some shoes.’ Chloe showed them to him; strappy 5 inch heels.
‘Very sexy,’ Dan said.
‘And some hold-up stockings but you woke up before I could slip into them.’
Dan stroked her right thigh. ‘That’s okay; I’d like to watch you put them on.’
Chloe lifted an eyebrow theatrically and said, ‘Kinky.’
‘Probably.’
Chloe laughed and picked up three more carrier bags and handed them to Dan. ‘And this lot’s for you.’
Dan opened the bags and saw a lot of clothing; jeans, some shirts, underwear and a rugged pair of trainers.
‘I checked your old clothes for sizes so this lot should fit okay.’
‘They’re lovely but they must have cost a fortune,’ Dan replied as he unfolded a shirt from its packaging.
‘You’re worth it.’
‘Thank you.’
‘Get dressed and we’ll go and get something to eat, wear the burgundy shirt; it’ll look good with the new jeans I bought you.’
‘Yes ma’am.’
Dan dressed quickly and everything felt good, the clothes fit his frame perfectly and the shirt was not too tight around his neck. He was impressed. ‘Are there no ends to your talents?’
Chloe kissed him, ‘I hope not.’
Dan sprayed some deodorant under his arms and then fastened the buttons on the shirt, he left it loose and slipped on the trainers that she had bought him, they felt snug and comfortable. He stood up and held his arms outs wide. ‘So how do I look?’
‘Now you look good enough to be seen out in public with me.’ She laughed when he playfully lunged for her and she side stepped him and said, ‘I’ve already booked us a table at an Italian just around the back of the motel; it’s nothing fancy but it looks good enough for our needs.’
‘You have been busy,’ Dan said as he watched Chloe tie her hair up with pins.
Dan walked behind her and kissed her exposed neck; his lips played across her nape and onto her right shoulder. Chloe leant back into him and he moved his hands down over her shoulders, his fingers sliding beneath her dress and he cupped her breasts in his hands feeling her nipples harden against his palms. Chloe pushed her ass back into him and sighed.
‘That feels great but I need to finish dressing, then we need to eat; I’m starving and then I’ve gt to call my parents, if they’ve heard about the fire they’ll be sick with worry.’
Reality crashed back in on Dan and Chloe felt his body tense. She put her hands over his and kissed the back of his right hand. ‘Don’t worry Dan, we’ll sort it all out, we’ll be okay.’
Chloe could still feel how tense he was so she took control of the situation in her usual way and made him sit down.
‘Sit there and admire me as I do my stuff.’
Dan sat and watched but despite everything he knew that real danger was out there ready to pounce and he would be wise not to forget that but for now he let Chloe have her way.
As if gifted with a sixth sense Chloe nodded. ‘You’re right Dan this is a fragile existence we have together. Any second Rufus could theoretically shatter it, which is why we have to make every moment count; every kiss, every loving look, it all has to mean something otherwise he’s already won.’
Chloe looked at him, her stare unwavering, her conviction visible. ‘We have to act on every impulse, enjoy every moment we have together, to hold each other in our hearts; that way he can’t win and we stand a chance of life after all of this, do you understand?’
Dan nodded. He was beginning to really see Chloe for the first time, she might be very young but there was a maturity within her that was ageless.
‘Together we’re a force he’s never encountered before, we’re fate colluding to bring us together, nothing else can explain why you ran from him and I walked to a darkened motorway on-ramp. Fate has made it so that together we bring about his demise and until we are able to erase his miserable existence I’m going to savour every crazy moment I have with you and you should too.’
He thought about what she’d said; fate colluding to bring them together. Was he really prepared to believe that some other more powerful force had brought them together, had made him run when deep down he knew that he could have twisted Rufus’ head off without any real danger of being hurt himself? If fate existed had it brought them together to tackle the bigger threat to them and many others? Did fate want the men behind “BigGame” stopped?
Dan grinned, ‘Okay, you’ve got me, now get those stockings on; I’ve always had a th
ing for hold-ups.’
Chloe laughed and did exactly as he told her.
Chloe sat opposite Dan, their hands linked together across the Formica table.
The restaurant was almost empty; their nearest neighbours were six tables away so they didn’t have to worry about being overheard. They had already finished their meals and were waiting for their coffees to be served, the young waiter who had looked after them all the way through the meal had not been able to take his eyes off Chloe’s plunging neckline and Dan couldn’t say that he blamed him; right now his own eyes were centred on the base of her cleavage. She’d told him off several times throughout the meal and Dan had laughed telling her that if she didn’t want him to ogle her all the time she shouldn’t have it all on show all the time, she’d nodded at that and smiled when she had flashed Dan her right nipple; he’d almost choked on his lasagne.
‘When we get back to the room I’ll ring mum, let them know I’m okay.’
‘Will you mention me?’ Dan asked.
Chloe shook her head, ‘Probably not, it’ll take too long to explain, I’ll just say that I’m staying with some friends for the time being and that I’ll visit them soon.’
Dan nodded. ‘We need access to the internet soon, remind me to get a laptop with Wi-Fi installed on it.’
‘First things first though; we need to go through Rebecca’s mobile, there’s bound to be something on it of use to us.’
Dan agreed, ‘Chloe, depending on what we find I say we head up to Edinburgh and locate that hotel Rebecca told us about, what was it called?’
‘The Majestic, it could be a dead end though,’ Chloe replied.
‘Maybe but it’s all we’ve got to go on at the moment, unless Rebecca’s phone gives us untold secrets.’
‘There is that I guess.’
The waiter brought their coffees and hovered around, his eyes stuck down Chloe’s dress. Eventually the waiter left and Chloe laughed, ‘I never knew I had this effect on so many men.’
Dan laughed too. ‘Bullshit; you know only too well.’
Chloe giggled. ‘Oops, caught in a lie; I’ll have to be punished.’
‘Honey, I’m all done in for one day.’
‘Shame,’ Chloe said and ran her left hand down the front of her dress, she moved the dress to the side a fraction revealing the curvature of her right breast, and slowly she kept parting it until her nipple popped free. She licked her lips and smiled at Dan.
‘You’re insatiable,’ he said.
Chloe ran her fingers around her exposed nipple and then let the dress slip back over it.
‘I’m only teasing, all I want to do tonight is sleep; a girl needs her beauty sleep.’
They finished their coffees and Dan left enough cash on the table to cover their bill, he didn’t leave a tip for the waiter, he figured the waiter had got enough perks out of them for one night.
Outside the evening had turned cold with a slight breeze blowing against them. Chloe’s dress clung to her body, her erect nipples clearly outlined through the satin. Dan slipped his right arm around Chloe and pulled her in against his body. His hand slid over her shoulder and down her front, he pushed her dress apart exposing both breasts to the night.
Chloe slapped at his hand and covered herself once more.
‘Prude,’ Dan joked.
‘Beast,’ Chloe shot back.
They walked quickly along the pavement. In her 5 inch heels Chloe was still a few inches shorter than Dan and he commented that he could still see down her top. Chloe laughed loudly and smiled up at him. ‘I really do love you Dan, it’s not even been twenty four hours but I love you so fucking much.’
‘Me too.’
Nearing the corner to the motel Dan dropped back, they were still pretending to be single guests, not wanting to take any chances. Chloe looked back over her shoulder and dropped her hands to either hip, she grabbed the hem of her dress and pulled it up her thighs revealing her lacy black stocking tops, and she pulled it higher until he could see her bare ass.
Back in the room Chloe sat down on the bed and found her mobile phone; she switched it on.
Dan slumped down in to a comfy chair and watched Chloe. She crossed her legs and the dress slid up her thighs revealing stocking tops and Dan felt a stirring in his loins and immediately scolded himself, but then again maybe Chloe was right, here and now they were safe so maybe he could afford to relax and to enjoy Chloe.
Her phone started to vibrate, alerting Chloe that she had 3 answer machine messages. Chloe began to access them when her phone started to ring startling her. Dan sat up in the chair clearly on edge.
Chloe waved a dismissive hand at him and said, ‘Relax baby, it’s my mum.’
She answered the call.
‘My god Chloe; we’ve been beside ourselves with worry.’
‘Sorry mum, it’s been a little crazy.’
‘We heard about the fire; it made the news, the whole block went up, people died and we’ve been trying to get hold of you; we’ve been so worried.’
‘Mum, let me get a word in. I wasn’t even at home when the fire started, I was at a friend’s, I’m okay, really I am.’
‘But didn’t you think to call us? You could have let us known that you were alright.’
‘Sorry mum, when I heard about the fire I went to see how bad it was, everything was on fire, it was such a shock that I’ve been asleep all day, I’ve felt so exhausted.’
‘Of course, it must have been a hell of a shock for you dear.’
Chloe smiled at Dan and adjusted her dress so that a little more thigh was on show and she licked her lips at him suggestively. Dan just shook his head and smiled back.
‘Yes mum it was but I’m okay, I should have called you earlier, it was silly of me not to, you were bound to worry.’
‘So what will you do now Chloe?’ Her mum asked. ‘Of course, silly me, you can come and stay here, I’ll get your room made up and...’
Chloe interrupted her mum, if she didn’t she’d never get off the phone. ‘It’s okay mum, I’ll stay with my friend for a few days and then I’ll come and visit you both.’
‘Okay sweetheart, your father would like a word. Okay Don, I’ll just say goodbye to our daughter if that’s okay with you...’
Chloe smiled at Dan and put her hand across the mouthpiece. ‘They’re bickering; they always do when they’re nervous.’
‘Is everything okay?’ Dan asked.
‘Yes, I’ll just get rid of dad,’ Chloe said and turned towards him and opened her legs so that he could right up her dress.
Dan laughed, ‘You’re incorrigible.’
‘And you’re hot.’
‘Chloe, who’s hot?’ Chloe’s dad said down the phone and Chloe bit back a giggle. She held the phone close to her ear again.
‘Nobody dad, I said I’m hot.’
‘Right; are you okay sweetie?’
‘Yes dad, I told mum, I’m fine, I wasn’t even at home when the fire started.’
‘And just where were you at that time in the morning?’
Chloe picked up on the teasing quality in her father’s voice.
‘Nothing like that dad, I was staying at a friend’s.’
‘They say it was arson you know, it started on your floor, and ten people were killed, it’s a tragedy.’
Dan saw Chloe whiten and she closed her legs. Dan got up from the chair and walked over to her and sat on the bed next to her. He put an arm around her and pulled her close, comforting her. Chloe smiled and squeezed his leg.
‘That’s terrible dad.’
‘I know, and I feel terrible for saying this but I’m just glad you weren’t there, that you’re okay; you are okay aren’t you?’
‘Yes dad, I’m tired and a little shocked, those poor people but I’m okay.’
‘You’ll have to get on to the insurance company too, I assume you had insurance?’
Chloe smiled, just like her dad to think of something like that. ‘Yes dad, I’ll do it
soon.’
‘Make sure you do, you know what those insurance people are like, and they’ll drag their feet.’
‘Yes dad.’
Dan sat next to Chloe, holding her close for the next five minutes as she reassured her parents that she was doing fine, finally satisfied that their daughter was okay they said their goodbyes and Chloe hung up. She turned to Dan with a fire in her eyes. ‘Innocent people were killed Dan.’
He embraced her and she kissed his left eye, ‘Dan we have to stop him, people are dying.’
‘I know and we will.’
Chloe kissed his cheek. ‘See, I told you that every moment counts, we don’t know when life will be extinguished.’
Chloe slid over him, her left knee one side of his body, her right knee on the other and she pressed into him; sitting on his lap, ready to kiss him passionately.
Chloe’s phone buzzed again and she picked it up off the bed.
‘Who’s that?’
‘It’s the answer machine; I’d better check my messages.’
Dan went to slip her off of his lap but she squeezed his hips with her thighs and said, ‘I’m not done with you yet.’
Chloe put her phone to her ear; she was expecting to hear her parents’ voices asking where she was. Her free hand stroked Dan’s face.
His hands traced patterns on her thighs, and he felt himself begin to get aroused despite the news of the people dying in the tower block. A part of him felt guilty but a greater part of him felt grateful that Chloe had not been one of them.
Dan’s hands moved up her thighs and over her hips to her ass, he squeezed her buttocks gently.
‘Mmm, that feels good,’ Chloe murmured as she waited for the answer machine’s message to play.
The first message started and Dan instantly felt her go rigid on his lap and he knew that something was wrong; that it wasn’t her parents’ voices that she was listening to.
Dan started to move and Chloe said, ‘Don’t; just don’t, okay.’
