“We had some residue, because that’s a good description for what’s left, sent here. One was a female, not enough left to identify, and two males, unidentifiable. We hope Doc and Nioma can tell us if they are human or god,” Zeus said.
“My guess is they aren’t god. They didn’t look fit enough. I can’t be a hundred percent sure, but I wonder if Origin is having an inner struggle for control in their leadership because of the shortage of money. We’re putting the pressure on and they’rec cracking,” Doc suggested.
“That would explain a thing or three,” Sierra said. “It would explain the breakdown of their organization, the change in their goals from capture to kill, and the dead bodies left lying around.”
“It looks like Carl Riddle is involved,” Doc said.
“We may have gotten lucky then. One of the teams assigned through Cher’s company has caught him when he was seeing his mother,” Zeus informed them.
Doc was hit with conflicting emotions. She didn’t want to see him, but they might get valuable information from him.
“You okay?” Sierra asked looking at Doc.
“I’ll be fine, just dirty and tired. How did things go with Lizzy and Nancy?”
“We gave them a choice after we told them about their grandma. Leave or stay with armbands to track them with. They both stayed, for now anyway,” Sierra said. “Carl will be here tomorrow. Are you going to be okay?” she whispered softly. Everyone could hear anyway, they were all gods but only a few of them would understand what it meant.
“Water under the bridge,” she said with a smile. Water under the bridge, she thought hoping it true.
“Anything from the others that we sent out?”
“Hercules and Eres both checked in but the locations were off and they are trying to hunt the facilities down. Apollo didn’t leave as quickly as we’d hoped. It seemed Way didn’t want to go and we had to persuade her. They left a full day after you and they are hiking in with a human guide making their progress slow. I bet they haven’t made it there yet and won’t for a few more days. We are getting new intel continuously and if we get a new location on the god you were tracking, I may need you two to go back out for him,” Zeus explained. He knew they had no desire to go out again and once Doc was pregnant, he’d lose a good team. Maybe Nioma would agree to go out after the abused gods they had leads on. It had never been something she enjoyed, but she had military training too. She had opted out of the military when her time was up, but Doc had talked Zeus into hiring her and he hadn’t regretted it.
“I wanted to ask that we interview the researchers we find to make sure they were coerced by Origin. The thing with Rachel has really been on my mind and it made me remember all the tricks that Origin used to try to recruit me. They feared my ties too much to kidnap, coerce, or threaten me, but they were still aggressive in their methods. I guess what I’m saying is if I hadn’t been military or had influential family and friends, I think they would have gotten me even though I hated the idea of working for them. How many scientist who planned to do the right thing were forced to go against what they believed in order to survive or protect a family member. I know some just gave in out of greed, but some felt they had no choice.”
“I understand, Doc. We don’t want to punish others who were victimized, that’s not what we’re about. We’ll be fair to those who weren’t there voluntarily, I promise you that,” Zeus vowed. He could almost feel the relief in the room and it wasn’t just Doc. Sympathy for the others Origin had victimized could be felt from everyone in the room.
“What about the mating drugs? I’ve heard something about that,” Erebus asked.
“We’re at a stand still where those are concerned. Rachel, the researcher they forced to work on them, purposely flawed her work. Without a leading geneticist, I don’t think they can move forward. We may need to try to track researchers so we know who is out there and what they’re working on. Other than that, I’m afraid it will be a wait and see while we hope for the best outcome,” Zeus said.
“I know you guys must be ready for a shower, food, and rest. We’ll let you go for now,” Sierra said.
They trooped out of the meeting room and scattered in different directions. Hades and Doc headed to the cafeteria first. There was no food in their quarters and Doc was hungry enough to eat a bear and she felt emotional enough to wrestle one down. They found some gods sitting around eating and there was still some food out they could share. They greeted several gods they knew well, but sat at a table out of the way by themselves.
Doc knew she was out of sorts and it was more than just her concern about Origin. She was tired, irritable, and hungry most of the time lately. She would go to the lab after they ate just to check things out. She was sure her change was complete, so why was she so tired? There were few possibilities so she would know before long.
Hades fixed her plate, he took good care of her. “I hope you like ham,” he said.
“Love it,” she replied with a smile.
Ham and cheese sandwiches were always a good standby. The sweet tea that she was sure Cherish had made was southern style just the way she liked it. “When we finish eating, I need to go to the lab for just a little while to check on something.”
“Okay, I’ll take a shower and if you’re not there soon, I’ll go to sleep,” he threatened in a teasing voice.
“I won’t be long, really.” She ate the rest of her sandwich and took her snack size bag of chips with her. She leaned in and gave Hades a quick kiss before heading for the lab. No one was there when she went in. She gathered what she needed and took a sample of blood. She appreciated her own skill when she didn’t feel a thing. She ran the test twice just to make sure before she cleaned up her mess and locked up as she left. She finally had her answers and Hades would want to know too.
She hurried back to their quarters to find a naked and aroused Hades waiting for her on top of the blankets. All she could think is, oh, my god and he was just that.
“Just a quick shower and I’ll be right back,” she assured him.
“Don’t forget I’m waiting right here for you,” he said with a wink and a grin.
She’d never undressed so fast in her life. She got in the water before it was warm and wet her hair. She shampooed, washed up, and conditioned with no wasted time. She dried off and almost ran to the bedroom in her haste to be in his arms. She was so afraid he’d be asleep, but he was waiting for her. Her own personal wet dream in the flesh. She slid onto the bed and right into his arms.
It wasn’t the gentle taking they usually shared. This was his beast claiming the mate of his choosing. He rolled over pinning her to the bed with his body. His finger tested her readiness and found her slick and needy. He drove into her in one smooth move. She moaned as her muscles adjusted instantly and pleasure filled her senses. Her legs moved to wrap around him as she arched to meet his hard, deep thrust. The sounds of their rapid breathing combined with their bellies slapping together. Moans filled the air as pleasure was shared and pressure to release built in them both.
His hard cock slid into her hitting sensitive nerves until she could hardly bear the pleasure. He felt her heat wrap around him squeezing him until he thought he would explode from the sheer joy of it. He pounded into her willing her to orgasm. “Cum, Baby. I can’t hold out much longer,” he whispered in her ear.
“I love you so much,” she said as bliss washed through her. “Oh, Hades.”
He felt her whole body tense and clench around him. She literally squeezed his hot cum right out of him. Her muscles massaged stream after stream of milky seed from him until he had no more to give. He rolled them over so he wouldn’t crush her with his weight. He wrapped her up in his arms and as they both slipped into a deep sleep, he whispered, “I love you too, Sweetheart.”
Epilogue
Her heart beat faster and dread filled her belly. Her hands were wet with sweat and she dried them on her jeans. Hades raised his eyebrow at her, she knew he wondered wha
t was wrong. They headed to the interrogation room where Carl Riddle was being kept. She didn’t want to see him, but he had ask for her and Zeus wanted to know what Carl might tell her.
They walked in the room where Carl was chained to a chair. He hadn’t changed much from when she knew him, he’d only gained a few worry lines that hadn’t been there before. It must be rough working for those who killed and tortured others.
“Gemma,” he said and his voice was like a caress. Hades growled at the intimate tone in Carl’s voice. “I see you’ve bonded with one of them. I’ve missed you all these years. Always regretted letting you go even though it was the only good thing I ever did.”
“Why?” she asked in a whisper almost fearing the answer he might give. At one time she had been almost obsessed with that question and now, even though she had asked, she feared the answer.
He knew exactly what she was asking. “I really loved you, still do in a way. I knew Origin would kill part of you. You wouldn’t be the same once they crushed your spirit and forced you to go against your ideals. I did for you what I wasn’t able to do for myself, I freed you from Origin.”
“I don’t understand. Why couldn’t you free yourself?”
“No one who cares about their family is ever free from them. My mother was my weakness, I couldn’t stand the thought of her being hurt. You should warn your sisters, the ones that aren’t here. They’ll go after them, they’ll use them against you. They’re getting more desperate, more ruthless.”
“Is that why they tried to kill the gods coming after them by booby trapping that house?”
“They don’t want to kill gods. That idiot was suppose to blow it up when he left. He didn’t do it right, maybe you shook something up, I don’t know, but somehow you set it off. Origin isn’t too happy with him, but the quality of the help is taking a hit along with the available funds to pay for them. I’m sure he’s running scared if he knows what’s good for him.”
“Is that what you needed to know?” Hades asked Zeus.
“Yes, you two can go now.”
Hades pulled Doc out of her chair and out of the room. “Do you still have feelings for him? I need to know.”
“I only feel sorry for him. It’s you I love, you I want, and you I need. We’re a family, and soon we’ll be a larger family.”
“You’re with child? When did you find out and why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
“I only found out last night and we’ve been kinda busy. I wanted to tell you when we had a little time to be alone.”
Hades picked her up in his arms carrying her down the hall to their rooms. “We will have that alone time, right now.”
She thought that everything would be perfect, at least for now, if she only knew Way and Apollo were okay.
Far away from Olympus, Apollo held his reluctant mate in his arms as she shivered and fidgeted in her sleep. He wasn’t sure if it was the change or if she was coming down with an illness but she wasn’t herself. The trip so far hadn’t been an easy one and she didn’t have the resilience and endurance of a god. The human guide wasn’t faring much better with the pace Apollo had set, but at least she didn’t shiver and shake as she slept.
When they rested was the only time Apollo was able to get close to her. Once she fell asleep, he held her close and kept her warm in the ever cooler temperatures they were running into. If he was a full human, he might have given up, but he was Apollo and he would never let her go no matter how hard she ran from him.
Frozen Origin Quickies 1
Morpheus
He was ready for death, but they wouldn’t let him die. He’d been pushed, prodded, cut, and that was only when he was fully aware of what they had done. Once in a while he was allowed to heal before they attempted to breed him to human females or take his seed for their test tube attempts at making more gods. They were tired of the failures and he didn’t have much more time left. At least he knew some of his brothers had found freedom. He’d overheard enough to know that and he was happy for them, even though he knew he would die a slave.
She usually left her renters in peace and if they left her the same way. She couldn’t complain, they’d been quiet and she rarely even saw them. The problem was the neighbor who was a nosy Nancy and told her she had heard screaming, cussing, and the sounds of someone being hit. She had no choice but to look into it even though she was sure it was probably the TV or something. She slid the key into the lock when no one answered. It wouldn’t turn, it looked like they had changed the lock without notifying her. She looked in a few of the windows, nothing just like she thought. She went to the side looking in the basement window and that was when she had the shock of her life. Naked and gorgeous, he looked bruised and battered all to hell. It was just wrong, so wrong that she pulled out her cell phone calling the cops.
