“Ahhh ha, got yo thirsty ass!” Carmen spat. The look on Whack’s face was hilarious. They all looked at him and fell out laughing in unison. They four continued walking and laughing through the mall. As they were passing the food court, Kyra noticed two girls her and Carmen had a run in with earlier at school. Yeah, them bitches was talkin all that shit, let’s see if these hoes bout what they say! Kyra thought to herself. She hated hoes who ran they mouth; she was about that action.
“Hey Carmen, ain’t them the hoes from first period that was talkin all that monkey shit?” she asked her friend. Carmen squinted her eyes and looked over to where her friend was pointing.
“Yeah, that’s them hoes! Didn’t they say they was gon stomp us out?” she said, laughing.
“Right, so I know you thinking what I’m thinking,” Kyra stated.
“You lead and I’ll follow!” Carmen assured her best friend. That’s all she needed to hear. Before they knew it, Kyra took off in the enemy’s direction.
“I bet her lil short soft ass don’t buss a grape,” Whack teased, as they followed behind.
“Well we shall see,” Notorious said, laughing, he was ready to see some action. Carmen was so busy trying to catch up with her friend she didn’t even hear them. “Well, well, well, if it ain’t shit talkin Brittany and Brandy!” Kyra spat as she approached the two girls.
“Aw look, Bran, it’s the two lil sophomore bitches from school who wanna be us,” Brittany said, giggling. Brittany and Brandy were seniors. They had been friends since freshman year and thought it was fun to team up and torture under classmate girls they thought were pretty and competition.
Kyra and Carmen wasn’t going for it, there wasn’t any kind of bitch in their blood and they didn’t back down from anyone. “Look bitch, I ain’t come over her to talk! I came to beat that ass for all that mouth you got! I don’t run up on people without them knowing, that’s weak shit. So wassup?” Kyra said meaning every word. She was trying to warn Brittany of the ass whooping she had coming next.
“Britt, jus whoop this lil bitch ass!” Brandy spat. “I’m getting tired of her-” (BOP, BOP) before Brandy could finish her sentence, Kyra two pieced her right in her big ass soup coolers. She then turned to Brittany and hit her with the same exact combo. Brittany stumbled and snatched Kyra’s hair in the process.
“Come on, lil bitch, since you wanna be tuff!” Brittany yelled, as she swung her by the hair like a rag doll.
This weak ass bitch pulling hair and shit, ole weak ass, Kyra thought to herself. She then began to give Brittany hard blows to the rib cage. “Let my fuckin hair go weak ass bitch!” she yelled. The blows she was throwing were so intense, Brittany instantly began to fold. Kyra’s hair was slowly slipping her grasp. When she finally got loose, Kyra snatched Brittany by her shirt collar and began to wear her out. (BOP, BOP, BOP, BOP, BOP) Kyra was landing hay after hay all over her pretty little face.
“BEAT THAT BITCH!” Carmen yelled, cheering her friend on. Brittany was getting beat so bad; she wasn’t even trying to fight back anymore. She was too embarrassed. Not only was she getting her ass beat, but she was getting it beat by a sophomore she picked on.
“I don’t hear you talkin now bitch! Why you not talkin?” Kyra said, while still hammering Brittany’s head like a nail. “Ima make sure you remember me!” she yelled. Brandy was still in shock, standing there holding her leaking mouth. She didn’t even bother to help her friend. Witnessing the damage Kyra was doing, she wanted no parts in it anymore.
Carmen, Whack, and Notorious were laughing so hard, they didn’t see mall security running their way.
“Aw shit Aw shit her come security!” Whack yelled, he had looked up just in time.
“Iight, Kyra, that’s enough; you won, we gotta get the fuck up outta here!” Notorious said, while trying to peel her off of Brittany.
Kyra yelled, “BITCH!” and gave her one last kick to her stomach. She then ran off to the nearest exit. Carmen, Notorious, and Whack ran behind her.
The four of them talked and laughed about what had just happened as they rode through the downtown streets. “You was beating that hoe ass; she ain’t know what the fuck to do!” Carmen said, laughing hysterically.
“Girl, them bitches was weak, talked all that shit and can’t even fight. Bitch thought she was doin something by pullin my hair, til I start gut punching her big ass! Then her homie the clown lookin ass friend thought she was bout it til I hit her with a two piece and a biscuit extra crispy!” Kyra yelled, her adrenaline was still pumping.
“Aye, you did do yo thang though lil Tyson, I just knew you was gon get beat up,” Whack said, laughing.
“Nigga please, I’ll throw down with the best and still come out on top. Now, try me!” she spat.
“Whoa, ok baby, don’t beat my mans up,” Notorious said, cracking up at the two. He liked Kyra from jump, but he really liked her now. She was cute, feisty, and down for whatever just like he liked them. He had to have her on his team, and he promised himself he would real soon. Little did he know she was feeling the same way. She didn’t know what it was about him, but ever since she had laid eyes on him earlier that day, he had given her butterflies.
“Anyway. Notorious can we go to Baskin Robins? I want ice cream,” Kyra asked using her sweet voice on him.
“I’ll go buy the whole franchise for yo ass baby,” he replied with a smile. He was so serious though.
“Aw, here yo trick daddy ass go,” Whack blurted out.
“Nigga, you shut yo ass up; you just mad you don’t have nobody to trick on,” Notorious shot back. “Matter of fact, make yo self useful and roll this weed… and don’t worry bout my trickn ass!” he said, handing Whack the weed and Philly. Notorious then turned the radio up and headed towards Baskin Robins in Central Westend.
Chapter 5
Kyra sat on the passenger side of Notorious’ Impala waiting on him to come out the corner store. (Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz), his phone was ringing in the cup holder and had been nonstop since he got out. Kyra was so curious; it took everything in her power not to look at it and answer. They weren’t even together, so she knew she’d be crossing her boundaries. Plus, she knew what he did so she was pretty sure it was just a geek or one of his workers needing to re-up.
After about five more minutes, Notorious returned to the car wearing the biggest Kool-Aid smile on his face. “Why you lookin so goofy?” Kyra asked.
“Oh, nothing major. I just got something to ask you,” he replied.
“Okay, well spit it out already; don’t just sit there lookin stupid,” she said, laughing and somewhat excited.
“Kyra, like on some real shit, you know I like you a lot. For the past few months, we’ve been together every day and I could really get use to this. So basically, I’m asking will you be my girl?” he asked with the straightest face possible, while pulling out a ring he had just bought out the gumball machine in the store.
“Bwhahahahaha, awww how cute,” Kyra said, laughing so hard. “You are such a damn goof troop! But yes, Dorian, I will be happy to be your girl,” she said, as he placed the plastic ring on her hand. He then leaned over and gave her a passionate kiss. (Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz) his phone started back ringing interrupting their moment.
“Hold on baby, this Whack, I gotta answer,” he said, looking at his phone. “Wassup nigga?” he spoke, picking up.
“What the fuck nigga! Why you ain’t been answering the fuckin phone? I bee blowing yo ass up! You need to get yo ass to the spot now!” Whack yelled and hung up in his ear.
“FUCK!” Notorious yelled and hit his steering wheel.
“What’s goin on?” Kyra asked in concern.
“I don’t know but I gotta drop you off, I’ll be back for you after I handle this lil situation,” he replied while starting up his car before speeding off.
✴✴✴✴✴
Notorious dropped Kyra off at Grams house with Carmen so he could go right back and get her when he finished his business. His mind wa
s racing a mile a minute. He didn’t know what was going on, but by the way Whack reacted he knew it wasn’t good. As long as all my soldiers still breathing I’m good, anything else can be replaced, he thought to himself as he was speeding trying to make it to the spot as fast as possible. When he pulled up all his goons were standing on the porch as if they were having a meeting. “Wassup what’s all this?” he asked as he was walking up the porch steps.
“Aye boss man, some fucked up shit went down! Whack and Manny on the inside waiting for you.” One of the goons spoke up. When Notorious got on the inside Whack and Manny was sitting at the round table in the middle of the living room. Manny was Notorious’ big cousin on his mother’s side. He had been running the trap since Murder put him in charge, so Notorious kept it that way.
“Can somebody please tell me what the fuck goin on? I’m starting to get real impatient!” Notorious said with frustration.
“That bitch ass nigga Rob and some other lil niggas hit Manny at gun point a lil over an hour ago. Took all the money out the safe and all the work we had here. That’s what the fuck goin on!” Whack responded in rage pacing back and forth across the living room, he was ready to lay nigga down.
“ROB?!” Notorious yelled, he was more so hurt than angry at this point. He had been knowing Rob for years. His pops had dated Rob’s mother a while a few years back and he took him in like a little brother, had been looking out for him ever since.
Little did Notorious know Rob was jealous and really didn’t care for him, and if he had the chance he would take him out with no questions asked.
“How did you even give him the opportunity to catch you slipping?” Notorious asked, looking his cousin in his eyes.
“Come on cuz, you know I run this post alone all day every day; it’s been this way for years. You also know Rob been working with us for years; shit, he supposed to be like family so why wouldn’t I trust him?” Manny replied in his defense.
“The nigga called and said he was coming to re-up on his usual so I said cool. When he came we did the regular. I turned around to put his money in the money counter to check and make sure it was right, when I turned back around, I was staring down the barrel of his and two other niggas guns. Rob told me I knew what it was. He took all the money he gave me back and demanded all the money in the safe and all the dope. Shit, I was out numbered and my pistol was on the table. If I would’ve reached for it, they would’ve blew my head off!” Manny said, shaking his head in disbelief.
“Right, right, you did right,” Notorious said, rubbing his chin as he was taking this all in.
“Then before the nigga dipped, he hit me in the head with his gun and told me to tell you don’t even bother coming to look for him because he out,” He said holding an ice pack on the right side of his head right above his ear.
“So that nigga got a death wish huh.” Notorious stated.
“That’s the same shit I was thinking,” Whack said cocking his 9mm. Notorious wasn’t really worried about the money and dope. The money they took was pennies to him and he had dope for days. He was pissed that Rob was trying to play him for a soft ass nigga, and he wasn’t having that.
“Put the word out, I got fifty grand for whoever bring me that nigga head on a platter!” Notorious said through gritted teeth.
“You ain’t said nothing but a word boss,” one of his goons stated before heading out the door to spread the word.
Chapter 6
(Bzzzz, Bzzzz, Bzzzz) “Hey beautiful, what’s poppin?” Notorious said answering his phone for Kyra.
“Hey babe, what you doing?” she replied.
“Shit, finishing my business up at the spot and I’ll be on my way to you. You need something?” he asked.
“Yes, I’m kinda hungry; can you bring me something to eat on the way please baby?” she asked in her spoiled brat voice.
“No, but you can get dressed and I’ll be there in about 30 to take you out to dinner!” he said back with a slight chuckle.
“Okay, that’s even better! See you in 30,” she replied, smiling so hard that he could hear it in her voice.
“In a minute boo,” he said before hanging up the phone. Notorious pulled up to Kyra’s house in exactly 30 minutes. She was already standing behind the screen door waiting for him, so she seen him pull up.
“Momma, I’m gone!” she yelled and tried to hurry out the door.
“Za’Kyra wait, don’t you leave and I don’t know who you leaving with; it’s dark out!” her mother said, running to the door behind her.
“Ma, it’s just Dorian,” she said in aggravation.
“Well, you been seeing this Dorian an awful lot! Don’t you think it’s time I meet this lil boy?” she asked. “Now, gone out there and tell him come on in,” she demanded.
Kyra was boiling! She knew exactly how her mother was going to react when Dorian stepped foot in her presence. Kyra knew he was polite and respectful to his elders, so that was the least of her worries. She was more so worried bout the way he looked. His whole appearance screamed drug dealer.
“Okay mom gosh! Just please promise to give him a chance before judging him by his looks,” she whined before stomping out the door. When Kyra got to the car, she opened the door and plopped down in the passenger seat with her arms folded and lips poked out. She didn’t even bother to close the door.
“Damn boo, what’s wrong?” Notorious asked curiously.
“Man, we can’t go nowhere yet; my damn momma wanna meet you!” she spat while rolling her neck and eyes.
“Okay kool, what’s wrong with that?” he asked, letting out a little chuckle. This was his first time seeing Kyra pissed off and he thought she was so cute.
“What’s wrong with it is she judgmental as hell; if she don’t like you, we might not be goin nowhere at all!” she cried in frustration.
“Calm down baby girl, just relax. Trust me, mommas love me! When I’m done, she’ll be ready to plan our wedding!” Notorious said, laughing.
Kyra couldn’t help but to laugh. “Yeah okay, Prince Charming, whatever yo silly ass say,” she said.
“Now, let’s do this,” he said before turning off his engine. He kissed Kyra on the forehead, they gave each other dap, hopped out the car, and went into the house to face Kyra’s mom.
When Kyra and Notorious entered the house, her mom was sitting in the living room on the sofa waiting for them. Kyra was so nervous; her heart was beating thorough her throat. When she glanced over at Dorian, he was smiling as if everything was daisies and dolphins.
“Ma, this is Dorian,” Kyra said, breaking the silence. “Dorian, this is my mother, Ms. Jack-”
“Brenda,” her mother interrupted her in mid-sentence, while extending her arm out for a hand shake. BRENDA!? Kyra thought to herself, this lady don’t let none of my other damn friends call her Brenda! Fuck so different now? She was so shocked.
“Nice to finally meet you Ms. Brenda,” Notorious said with a warm smile as he placed a kiss on the back of her hand. He expected her to be a little older, but she looked exactly like a taller Kyra. She was beautiful. “Aren’t you just the gentlemen, nice to meet you also,” she said smiling back. So far things were going good. Ms. Brenda looked Notorious up and down, He’s a very nice looking little boy. A lil rugged but I can live with that. I guess I can give him a chance she thought. “So Dorian how old are you?” she asked. “I’m 19 my birthday is May 29, 1977,” he replied hoping that she wouldn’t start flipping out because Kyra was only 15.
“Oh okay that’s not too bad, now if you were 20 I’d have to call the police!” she said jokingly, but Kyra and Notorious didn’t find that funny. Kyra couldn’t believe her mother was being so nice. She was sure this meet and greet was bound to go bad. “So where yawl going tonight?” she asked.
“Oh we’re just going out for food. Kyra said she was hungry so I told her I’d take her to dinner.” Notorious replied.
“Well I have a better idea, yawl should let me cook for yawl,” she sa
id excitedly.
“No mom that’s ok we can go eat, plus you have to be at work soon,” Kyra said hoping her mom would just let them go.
“Well, it’s only 8. I don’t have to be at work til midnight; I can whip up something real quick! And I bet it be better than any place yawl go to!” she said proudly.
“Well, in that case, I’m down,” Notorious said quickly; he never turned down a home cooked meal. He’d take that over a restaurant any day.
“That’s what I’m talkin about Dorian, let momma n law show you how I get down!” she said, throwing up her hand for a high five. Notorious laughed and slapped fives with her. He still couldn’t figure out why Kyra was so nervous for them to meet; she was cool as a fan in his eyes.
“Okay, well yawl go find a movie to watch or do something. I’ll let yawl know when dinner ready,” she said, walking toward the kitchen.
“You trippin boo, yo moms hella kool,” Notorious said with a chuckle.
“Yeah today.” She laughed. What she didn’t know was that her mother knew she expected her to act overprotective, so she did the exact opposite. When her mother was her age, her mother sheltered her and never let her do anything. She promised herself that when she had kids she would be different.
Kyra got up to find a movie. “So, what you wanna watch?” she asked, as she opened the door of the entertainment center.
“Dang, do yawl have enough movies? I was gon ask what yawl got, but what yawl don’t got is the question?” Notorious said, looking at all the movies they had.
“Yeah, my momma love movies,” she said, laughing.
“Ooooh yawl got Friday! That’s my shit boo let’s watch that,” Notorious said, he was too amped.
“Okay that’s my shit too, so we good,” she said, grabbing the movie so she could put it in the VCR. After she put it in, she turned off the living room light and crawled up under Notorious on the couch. Kyra was actually happy that her mom met and was okay with Notorious. She liked the fact that they could sit and enjoy a movie with her mom in the next room and not at work. She didn’t even bother coming to check on them either, not even once.
