Why do we not see it and love it as we ought.

  Our Changing World

How the world has changed from when it all began

A world that has existed for millions of years

A world that is meant to go on forever

A world so precious and so unique

Yet most of us do not understand

How precious and unique it really is

We bicker and argue amongst ourselves

About carbon emissions and the state of the world

Always taking the easy way out

Instead of investing in ways to safeguard the world

One day if we do not take heed

Our precious world will be lost to us all.

  Jane Begley

  Seasons

The world is ever changing, ever moving

  Sometimes calm and gentle

  Sometimes ferocious and angry

  The land is constantly changing

  The sea is constantly changing

The sky above changes with them

The people and animals and plants

  Also change with them

What an amazing place this is

A world so unique in this vast universe

Turning so slowly, we are totally unaware

That we too are slowly moving with it

The sun and the moon essential to our life

Give us all that we need to survive

Without them, life on earth would be no more

There would be no seasons, there would be no life.

  Jane Begley

  Seeing and Hearing

Do we see everything that is in front of us

Do we see everything that is behind us

Or do we see only what we want to see

Is it possible to see everything that is around us

Are we aware of the things that we cannot see

Do we hear everything that is going on around us

Are there things going on around us that we can only sense

Are we perhaps only tuning in to certain sounds

Certain sounds that we know are there

Do we have other senses that we are not aware of

Senses that can only be used when we are aware of them

  Some people call it intuition

A kind of knowing or a kind of feeling

A kind of sense when something is not right

A kind of sense when something is right

Not a seeing or a hearing but an awareness.

  Jane Begley

  The Air We Breathe

How strange it is that the air feels different

On different days and in different places

Sometimes it feels fresh and clean

  Sometimes stuffy and stagnant

Wherever you are in the world

The air and the atmosphere are different

  It changes with the seasons

  It changes with the environment

Even the people you are with

Even the buildings you are in

Can change the air that we breathe

How strange it is that the air feels different

  In so many different ways.

  Jane Begley

  The Children of Tomorrow

We are all the children of tomorrow

We are all capable of love and understanding

Love is shown and felt in so many ways

All over the world, there is a new understanding

That love is THE most important emotion of all

Without love, there is only anger and hate

Children are given more love than they have ever been given before

They are allowed the freedom to express themselves

Knowing what it is that they would enjoy doing

Knowing and being in touch with themselves

Understanding that the earth must be looked after

That war and fighting is not the way to solve problems

Let us hope that this understanding will soon spread

To all the troubled parts of the world where love is not expressed

Where they cannot see the cause of their own anger and hate

They see only what they are told to see and do not look inside their hearts

The world is a magical place if you take a look around you

Even in the busiest town or city, just look up at the sky

Ever changing, ever moving from day to night and back again

There is always a tree somewhere to be seen and birds up in the sky

Thank goodness we are now more aware that the world must be taken more care of.

  Jane Begley

  The Creation of Life

We are born and we die

  What determines how we live

Where does our spirit come from

Where does our spirit go to when we die

  Is it all purely chance

Or do we come here for a purpose

Is there a particular path for everyone

We are all different enjoying different things

Some of us are good at particular things

Some are good at different things

Is there perhaps a balance of different characters

A balance of how many people are good at certain things

Is there also a balance of good and bad people

  There must be surely

Otherwise life would be even more difficult than it already is

It is a pity that we don’t all know what we are supposed to do

Then life could be so much more than it is.

  Jane Begley

  The Gap

Life began with a bang, we are told

Everything coming together at just the right time

To create a world, to create life

Life which gradually evolved into what we have today

Did people really evolve from apes

How did all these different species come to exist

How did nature produce such a varied life

A life with all the right combinations of wild life

All the right combinations of plant life and animal life

All the different species that live in the sea

All with a different purpose for life to exist

Did people really evolve from such primitive life

Or did they perhaps come from another place

Sent here to help protect and care for

Such an amazing, diverse and complete world.

  Jane Begley

  The Love of Two People

Whoever you are, wherever you live

Love is as necessary as breathing air

Without it, the spirit will gradually die

Without the touch and the love of another

There will always be something missing

When two people meet and fall in love

  Their whole world changes completely

Their souls unite and they are happy again

They are no longer unhappy and incomplete

When they lie together, their bodies touching

When they come together and become as one

There is nothing in the world that can compare.

  Jane Begley

The Sky Above and the Earth Below

All around the world, there is the sky

A miracle in itself, as there is nothing really there

A space that goes on forever

  No one really knows

Wherever you are, everything looks different

On one side of the world, it is day light

On the other side of the world, it is night time

What is at the centre of the Earth

  Does anyone really know

Below the surface, there are all kinds of amazing things

From diamonds to coal, from water to oil

Fires burning and bubbling, throwing out their energy

  So many different
theories of how it all began

So many unexplained questions never really answered

An ever-changing sky and ever-changing earth below.

  Jane Begley

  The Weather

Hardly a day goes by without some kind of change in the weather

  Sometimes only slight and subtle

Sometimes from one extreme to the other

Changes in the weather can affect how we feel

And can affect what we do

The weather affects the plants that grow

It affects the animals and birds and insects

When we look out and see the blue sky and the sun

We feel happy and energetic and want to be outside

If we look out and see a grey sky and rain

Our energy and enthusiasm goes away

Too much of a good thing, however, can have the same effect

All around the world, the weather is different

Even in the same country it varies from place to place

What an amazing world this is

A tiny planet in such a vast universe.

  Jane Begley

  The Wonders of the Sea

The sea is the creator of our landscape

It is the healer of our souls

It has an energy which is so unique

  It can calm the spirit

  It can energise the soul

  Just by standing and watching

  Just by standing and listening

  By breathing in its freshness

  By bathing in it completely

It can heal and energise our all.

  Jane Begley

The World and All Its Creatures

There are so many creatures that inhabit the world

It would be impossible to count them all

Creatures so small, you need a microscope to see them

And those so big, they can only survive in the sea

Birds so beautifully coloured, they just don’t look real

Animals of all different shapes and sizes.

  Jane Begley

  The World and the Weather

The Earth and the moon and the sun

  These planets are all interconnected

They control the force of the weather

  The weather controls the earth

These forces are shown in different ways

All around the world, they change from day to day

From calm to storm in a matter of minutes

Such varying weather brings monumental change

From eroding cliffs from stormy seas

That can destroy the land and all in its path

Winds of such force, they can uproot trees and buildings

  Carrying them vast distances away

Volcanoes both on land and under the sea

Producing fire and burning molten rocks

Flying out and burying everything in its path

Changing the landscape since time began

We have icebergs and frozen seas both in the north and south

We have deserts of sand which appear to never end

Shaped by the wind and the scorching sun

So many varying climates are hard to believe

All on one lone planet in such a vast universe.

  Jane Begley

  Together

In every part of the world, there are people who care

There are people who know how love feels

Who care about their families and friends

Who try to do what feels right in their lives

Those who care about the planet

Those who try to change the things that are wrong

Who appreciate the beauty that is around them

These are the people who bring us hope

Hope that one day things will change

One day we will all work together

To love and take care of this beautiful world.
