It doesn’t take long before everyone is startled by yelling from inside.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
We double over in laughter.
“MOTHER FUCKER, UNTIE ME!” Charlie hollers back.
I’m pretty sure I’m gonna wet my pants, I can barely breathe. Amber and I are using each other for support, tears streaming down our faces as we gasp for air between fits of laughter.
Hearing the stomping through the house, I’m met with a pale Danny and a very frustrated Charlie in just boxers, coming out the door.
We’re barely able to stand, but after a few moments, we manage to slow our laughter to a few giggles.
“What’s wrong, Snuggle Puss? Didn’t you have a good nap?” Amber says as if she is speaking to a child.
Charlie is breathing hard, standing there flicking his eyes between us. You could hear a pin drop in the yard, I am pretty sure everyone may have gone to get popcorn so they can enjoy the show.
“Are you done? Do I have any more surprises to look forward to?” he growls.
“That depends,” I say.
“On what?” he prowls closer, our bodies almost touching.
Amber and I look at each other before saying, “SEAL volleyball.”
With that, Charlie lets out a full body laugh.
“You got it, but you better finish what you started later.”
“You got a deal,” I say, leaning in to kiss him.
Pulling back from our kiss, he hooks his arm around Amber and turns to our audience.
“Alright, boys, shirts off. It's time to prove that SEAL’s are better at Volleyball than Tom Cruise.”
Groans and grumbles sound off from around the yard, but the smile never leaves Charlie’s face.
Danny walks up behind us, arms crossed, it's adorable how he tries to be manly.
“The only way I agree to this is if you three swear I never, and I mean NEVER, see his dick again.”
Amber pats his cheek. “I can’t make that promise, sorry.”
Charlie throws his head back and laughs. “But it’s such an awesome cock, everyone should see it.”
Everyone in the yard says ‘No’ in unison, which makes us laugh.
“Get the net set up, ladies, grab a drink and a chair.”
CHARLIE
“Twister Sisters! Get your bikinis on and your sexy asses in this hot tub. Now!” I holler across the yard.
“Aww. Avery, he gave us a nickname!” Amber swoons as they head inside to change.
Danny comes to the side of the hot tub. “Is there room for one more?”
“No. Go away.”
“You banging both of ‘em?”
“If you hit on either one of them, I will rearrange your face.”
Grumbling, he walks away as the girls exit the house, Newb stops, watching them head toward me. “Keep moving Newb.”
Amber climbs on my lap, leaning back against me, while Avery takes a seat across from us.
“You sure you want to start shit right here, in front of all our friends?” I say in Amber’s ear.
“Tell us what you want, and we’ll make it happen, Duckie,” Avery snarks.
“What do I want? That’s a dangerous thing to ask.”
“Your wish is our command,” Amber’s voice skates over my ear, my dick hardens against her ass.
Controlling her hips, I grind her against me a few times, growling into her neck.
“I’m assuming you have an assortment of toys?”
I don’t need a verbal response, the smirk on Avery’s face is answer enough.
“Both of you are going to be DP’ed. When I tell you to get in position, you’ll get on the bed, kneel with your face on the mattress and hands behind your back.”
Both of them are breathing harder, Avery biting her lip, keeping a moan locked in.
“Your hands will be tied, a plug inserted, and my handprints on your ass.”
Amber is clenching her thighs together and fidgeting in my lap, Avery’s eyes locked on mine.
“Promises, promises,” Avery sasses with a tight smile.

Grabbing a couple of beers, I sit down in the living room and wait for the girls, we have to talk about deployment, it’s quickly approaching and none of us have acknowledged it.
The girls find me in the living room, as they walk past, I grab Amber’s hand and pull her into my lap. I expect Avery to sit next to me, but she sits at the other end of the couch.“Grab a beer, we need to talk about deployment.”
The girls look at each other but don’t say anything.
“It's coming up soon, you guys need to be prepared for it. Six months of intermittent communication is hard, even on wives who’ve done it before.”
Amber burrows into my chest, resting her head on my shoulder, Avery doesn’t say anything, just watches.
“We’re no strangers to deployment. We were around when Katie was married to a SEAL.”
“Seeing someone else dealing with it and doing it yourselves is very different, Sweets. Luckily, you guys have each other and Katie.”
“Don’t worry your pretty little head about us, Giggles.”
“I do worry. I worry about someone trying to step in on my territory, worry about you deciding that I’m not worth the wait.”
Amber wraps her arms around me. “We won’t let that happen.”
“Okay, enough of this mushy shit. Time for Maverick and Goose.” Avery stands and turns on the movie before settling back on the couch. This time, I pull her closer to us and wrap my arm around her.

The movie credits begin to roll. “It’s time to assume your positions,” I tell them, my dick hardens at the mental picture of what will be waiting for me.
Both girls get up and head toward the bedroom. “I can’t promise to keep my hands to myself if you make us wait too long,” Avery snarks.
Before I can respond, Logan appears from the hallway.
“You got a minute?”
From the somber expression on his face, it's not really a question.
“Yeah, man. Let me tell the girls, I’ll meet you in the study?”
“Works for me,” he says as he turns around, heading back down the hall.
Opening the door, I see my girls exactly how I told them to be positioned, except they’re kissing. Fuck, I love watching them kiss.
I watch for a second, not leaving the doorway. If I enter the room, I won’t exit until all three of us are so exhausted we can’t move.
“Hold that thought, something’s up with Logan, and he needs to talk. He’s going to owe me so big.”
Avery lifts her head, resting her chin on her palm. “I guess we’ll have to find something to occupy our time then.”
“Ooh! Pinterest!” Amber chimes in. She really is the most random person I’ve ever met, but it’s one of the things I love about her.
“I am not eating salad out of jars again. I swear I’m going to deactivate your stupid account,” Avery tells her in no uncertain terms.
“I swear, I’ll be back as fast as I can.”
I pull the door closed, adjust my hard-on and head to the office. This had better be fucking important, or I’m going to knock him the fuck out.

That was a shit show. It took us forever to get Katie calmed down and in bed. I can still hear her sobs through the door even now, hours later. Amber and I knew it would be bad when Katie found out that Logan was best friends with Katie’s husband, Ryan, before he died. Then to discover that she had actually met Logan and to top it off, he promised Ryan that he would take care of Katie with his dying breath. Amber isn’t any better either. Out of the three of us, she was always the emotional one. If one of us hurt, Amber hurt along with us. Her heart is breaking right along with Katie’s.
Amber and I hear an anguished wail coming from the family room and immediately know it’s Katie. We throw some clothes on and haul ass to find Katie curled into herself on the
floor, Charlie and Logan standing over her in shock.
“Get the fuck away from her,” I shout across the room before grabbing Amber by the hand and rushing to Katie’s aid.
“Tell us what you need Katie, anything,” Amber whispers in Katie’s ear as I wrap her in my arms, pulling her into my lap.
“Make him go away, just make him leave. I just need the pain to stop.” Katie whispers to both of us.
The anger burns in my veins as Katie buries herself deeper into my chest. “Get his ass out of here before I kill him,” I growl between clenched teeth. If Katie wasn’t in my arms, I would be strangling the shit out of Logan right now. We trusted him to take care of her, fuck we trusted him period and he lied to all of us.
Charlie kneels down beside us and asks, “Is this what you want Katie?”
“I told you to get his ass out of her sight!” I hiss at him again.
Charlie gives her a vicious glare before looking back down at me, I can’t do anything but nod my head in the affirmative causing him to sigh.
“Alright, I’ll get his stuff and get him to his truck. I’ll make sure he’s gone.”
Luckily for Amber, Charlie is here. I’m not one to deal with tears. Yeah, I hurt for my friend, but I would much rather find Logan and break my foot off in his ass than sit around crying. Tears never solve anything. I don’t deal with emotions the way everyone else does, it means most people think I don’t have any.
Amber and Charlie are cuddled in the bed together. I’m sitting in the living room, nothing but my thoughts to keep me company. I hate watching the pain my friend is going through, her heart is literally breaking because of the love she has for Logan. It’s no different than my feelings for Charlie, and that scares me. My feelings have been growing since Charlie returned from training, he’s slowly encompassing my love for Amber, I need to stop it. The desire to be with them, feel his strong arms wrapped around my body and feel safe and protected is becoming a daily occurrence. It’s nights like this, where I want to run, run from these feelings that will break me when he leaves. When he goes to fight a war to protect us all. What if something happens, if he doesn’t come home to us. I don’t think I will be able to be strong for Amber, for either of us. It’s my job to protect her, but I won’t be able to protect her from this.
“Get it together, Bitch,” I mumble to myself, getting up to grab another beer from the fridge. If I’m going to be awake, I might as well have a drink, right?
As I make my way toward the kitchen, I notice the light is already on.
“Hey, what are you doing up?” Danny says as he cracks a beer.
“You’re kidding, right? World War Three just went down, how did you miss it?”
I push past him to get my own beer and he gives me a questioning look.
“I sleep with headphones on, so I didn’t hear anything.”
“Damn, you must suck to have around in a war zone,” I chuckle.
“That’s why I need the headphones.” Suddenly our joking conversation turned serious.
I open my mouth to apologize, but think twice about it. How the hell was I supposed to know he had some kind of issue? We continue to stare at each other, drinking our beers in silence.
“Hey, have you ever felt like this love shit was for the birds?”
Where the hell did that come from? I don’t know this dude, and here I am talking to him about love? He seems to be thinking about what I asked before he responds.
“I never thought about it before, but yeah, I want someone to come home to every night, someone to write to while on a mission, but that lovey-dovey, can’t live without them shit only happens in fairy tales and those lame ass books women read.”
“Huh, I never thought about it that way before.” I can’t help but wonder if he’s right. Maybe I’m just not built to fall in love like everyone else. I like fucking, and I protect the people I love, that’s all I’m good at. I love Amber and Charlie desperately, but I’m not built to take care of anyone if my own heart is broken in return.
Having made up my mind, I give Danny a wave as he heads toward the living room and I head for the study in search of a pen and paper. I can’t leave without saying anything, I know they’ll all worry. I take a deep breath before I begin writing.
I decided it was time for a change of pace.
Don’t worry about me, you have each other now.
Know that I’ll love you both until my heart stops beating.

I fold it neatly, writing Amber’s name on the front before placing it on the kitchen counter. I hit the Uber app on my phone, closest person is ten minutes away. I don’t have time to go into the room to get any of my stuff, good thing because if I go in there, I won’t have the strength to leave. I grab my purse and head toward the front door.
“Hey, where are you going? It's like 4 in the morning.”
“I’ve always wanted to see the mountains,” I respond with a smile before heading out the front door.
I don’t know if he’ll wake Charlie, let him know that I left, but I’m not sticking around to find out. I rush to the end of the driveway, bouncing from foot to foot waiting for my ride. It takes another two minutes or so before a car pulls up.
“You call an Uber?” the driver asks, lucky for me, it’s a female. Barely stopping the tears from falling, I nod my head ‘yes’ and climb in. Noticing that I’m not in the mood to talk, she pulls away from the house without asking questions. We drive for a few minutes until we get to the highway.
“Where to?” she asks.
“Just drive. I don’t care where we go,” I whisper as tears begin dripping down my face.
“I know just the place.” I look up catching her sympathetic eye in the rearview mirror.
“What’s your name? I’m Maria.”
“Avery.”
“Well, Avery. No matter what it is, just know it is going to get better,” Maria says before making her way onto the highway, headed to god knows where, hopefully not to my death.
“No, Maria, it will never be okay again,” I respond as I turn to look out the window.
CHARLIE
“Someone turn the sun off, it’s too early,” I grumble, burying my face into Amber’s hair. Last night was rough, nothing went as planned. My heart goes out to Katie and Logan, but I warned him to come clean before it was too late.
I pull Amber in closer, she snuggles deeper into my chest.
“I can get used to this, I just wish my best friend's heart didn’t have to be broken to get this kind of attention.”
“Are you feeling any better, Sweets?” I ask, placing a chaste kiss on her forehead.
“A little. Let’s wake Avery, she and I should go check on Katie.”
“I’m pretty sure she’s already awake, my back is freezing.” I can’t help but chuckle.
The three of us always wake up cocooned together, a pile of limbs. Most men would feel suffocated, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I place one final kiss on Amber’s cheek before rolling out of bed.
“I’m gonna head to the kitchen, hopefully Sugar made us some coffee. It’s way too early to be trying to function without it.”
I grab my jeans off the floor, pull them on, and head out the door. I see Newb passed out on the couch with the TV on low. I’m sure, like the rest of us, he had trouble sleeping. As I make it to the kitchen, I notice a note sitting on the counter with Amber’s name on it.
“Whatcha got there, Stud?” she asks as she wraps her arms around my waist.
“I don’t know. Someone left a note for you, but there’s no Avery in sight. I’m going to wake Newb and see if he’s seen her.”
I hand the note to her over my shoulder and head toward the living room. I don’t make it far before I hear Amber’s anguished scream. Immediately turning on my heels, I race back to find a sobbing mess on the floor.
“Sweets, what happened?”
A million scenarios are running through my mind, all of them having to do w
ith Katie and Logan. I hope that neither one of them did anything stupid. Wrapping her up in my arms, I cradle her in my lap like a baby and begin to rock back and forth trying to soothe her.
After what seems like an eternity, she calms down enough to speak, “She’s gone, Charlie. Avery left us. I’m all alone.”
Once the words leave her mouth, another round of sobs begins. It takes a moment to register what she’s saying, I snatch the note from her hands and scan it.
Rage quickly engulfs my veins, she loves us, but she left. That isn’t the concern, right now I need to find her and fast.
“Amber, I know it hurts but you need to think. Where would she go?”
I try to keep the panic out of my voice, but the thought of not seeing Avery’s smiling face has a rock settling in my stomach. I watch as Amber takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself and focus.
“Katie, she would never leave her in the state she’s in.”
We both jump into action and run into Katie’s room, not even pausing to knock on the door. I notice Katie is up and moving, throwing things into a bag. I guess she pulled her head out of her ass and is going to get Logan, but no Avery.
“What has you two running in here like a bat out of hell?”
I release the breath I’m holding. “We were hoping that Avery was here with you, but she isn’t. Where the hell did she go? Why would she just leave us like that? Where are you, Sugar?”
I’m unable to hide the pain that I feel from my voice, Amber immediately comes to me, wrapping her arms around my waist. I give her a gentle squeeze before taking a seat on the bed.
“Amber, what’s going on? Why the hell does Charlie sound like someone just ripped his heart out with their bare hands?”
“Avery is gone. I don’t know where she is or why she left. All we have is this note.”
She hands the crumpled-up piece of paper to Katie, I watch as she reads and confusion clouds her face.
“What the hell is going on? We need her, fuck that, both of you would never be alright without her. Everyone can see how much you both love her.”
