  Prologue

Lexi had always been a love-them-and-leave-them type of girl. Sex was just an act of two people in lust coming together for an enjoyable experience. Emotions never complicated matters. And, for most cases, it was as simple as a quick fuck in a closet, the back seat of a car or some other place where access was easy and fast. Rarely did she climax without masturbating during the act. She always assumed that was what sex was supposed to be like.

Since high school, guys came on to her fast and hard. She always practiced safe sex, but rarely did she ever have any true intimacy. Oral sex was something she rarely received or gave. Her pleasure was in conquering the man. She was always the one in control. Until she met Dante.

Dante showed her a taste of losing control. To be an exhibitionist and to indulge in her fantasies. He had shown her that there were places and people that knew the carnal pleasures of giving and receiving intimacy. Lexi realized there was so much more to his world and she wanted more.

Dante played a cruel trick on her that last night. He had her trust in his hands. With the understanding that denying him any request would result in the end of their relationship, he blindfolded her and coerced her to give oral pleasure to a woman, while taking his own. It had been an interesting and pleasurable experience, until he commanded her to engage in sex with that woman…her best friend, Lacey. She had been used, had been pushed to the edge. She couldn’t take it and left both her lover and best friend behind.

The sound of Dante’s laughter still rang through her ears at night. It wasn’t just a Dom/sub relationship. It was something cruel in him that hurt her so much more than just a numb quick fuck. She ran… all the way to another state, far removed from everything she had ever known. Not only that, she had run from the sexual pleasures she was sure he could show her. Her heart was broken and her body was longing.

“Thanks, Mr. Pearson. You are wonderful.” Lexi gave the portly man a quick hug before returning to pack up her desk.

“You are a phenomenal writer, Lexi. I don’t want to lose you, so I’m willing to do the long-distance thing with you.” Mr. Pearson chuckled.

“I have the schedule, so once I settle in I will email you over the rough draft on the second article for the couples lounge.”

“I can’t believe how well the first article went over. I was pleasantly surprised.”

“Well, they say ‘sex sells’ right?” Lexi gave her boss a small smile as she continued her packing.

After Mr. Pearson left her office, Lexi plopped back in to her chair, putting her feet up on her desk. Weeks had gone by and Lexi continued her daily routine sans Lacey. She couldn’t bring herself to talk to her or see her again. Dante too. She had said no to him, refusing to play a part in his fantasy and therefore, had broken their agreement.

Lexi wrapped her arms around her stomach. Her heart ached for the loss of her best friend and her sexy lover. She left most of her experience out of the first article she had submitted to her boss. She only spoke of the atmosphere, the general activities available, and the cleanliness of The Lounge. She couldn’t bring herself to think of the specifics that affected her personally. That didn’t matter much to Mr. Pearson or their readers. They loved the article and begged for more.

The second article was going to be more difficult. As the weeks went by after that night, Lexi couldn’t fight the dreams. Dreams that were filled with the memories of Dante’s control over her and how good it felt to let herself go under his care. She hungered for it and found herself wet and throbbing every time she woke up. He had awakened something in her that she found she craved.

Unfortunately, it had ended before it had truly gotten good. She had spent time reading and researching what they had in their relationship and realized that she desperately wanted a Dom/sub relationship. Anything now would be vanilla in comparison. But Dante had taken it to a level that broke the rules. She couldn’t trust him again.

He had given her a taste of the forbidden fruit and teased her with what she could have.

Manuel knocked on her office door and brought her attention back to the present. He helped her back the boxes in to the trunk of her car, next to the ones from her home and with a gentle smile; he left her without a word. Lexi glanced back at the tall office building and then back to her car. Shaking her head, she slid behind the steering wheel and started the engine. Wherever she ended up now, one thing she knew for sure was that no other lover would ever compare.

Lexi pulled up to the cottage and sat in the driveway. Her new home was adorable. It looked like something right out of a fairy tale. A small white one-level house with two square windows in the front, adorned with window boxes full of colorful flowers. The deep blue shutters framed each window, setting them apart from the exterior. She giggled as she though how they resembled eyes looking out at her. The front door was the same blue. The azalea bushes outside were in full bloom with reds and pinks. Tall oak and elms surrounded the quaint house and offered shade from the afternoon sun.

Exhausted from the long drive, Lexi grabbed her bags from the front seat and a manila envelope that contained her new keys and contact information for her landlords. They were nice people and were willing to rent to her without more than a few phone conversations. She figured it was just the way of the west. In the northeast, people were always suspicious, it seemed. But, out here in the middle of Nowhere, Tennessee, people were kind and trusting. Already, Lexi found a deep peace as she began the next chapter of her life.

“Hello there,” a rough voice called out.

“Damn.” Lexi banged her head on the hatch of her trunk at the sudden intrusion.

“Sorry about that.” The stranger chuckled.

Lexi shielded her eyes from the sun and gasped at the Adonis in front of her. Tall, broad shoulders, sandy blonde hair with a day’s worth of matching scruff along a strong jaw line hiding a deep dimple. His sapphire eyes sparkled with laughter. Yum. A cowboy. That’s what he looked like. Pale blue button down shirt tucked in to hip hugging faded jeans, black cowboy boots finished off the look.

“Did I pass?” Adonis asked, chuckling. His smirk playful.

“Oh gosh. I am so sorry.” Lexi shook her head. How rude. “I just didn’t expect to see anyone and thought my mind was playing tricks on me.” Lexi felt heat streak up her neck to her cheeks.

“Hey, I don’t mind. Kinda nice to be appreciated for a change.”

For a change? Who the hell was he kidding? There should be a statue celebrating his perfection in the center of town. Lexi shook her head again, clearing her thoughts as a giggle snuck past her lips.

“Lexi.” She offered her hand out.

“Seth.” His hand was warm, strong and callo
used. A shot of excitement blazed from her hand straight to her sex. Damn.

“Nice to meet you.” Lexi pulled her hand back quickly as if burnt by his touch.

“I live next door. Well, that’s almost a mile around here. But I am your closest neighbor, so I thought I’d pop by and welcome you to the hood.”

“Hood?” Lexi could help the hearty laugh that came out.

“Yeah.” Seth chuckled. His cheeks flushed and Lexi smiled at his embarrassment.

“Well, thank you, Seth.” Lexi went back to picking up boxes. “Where I’m from, the term hood typically means gangs, hobos and shoot outs.”

Now Seth was laughing. “That was my not so subtle way of trying to ask where you are from.”

“Oh. Um. East coast.” Lexi headed inside, Seth carrying boxes in behind her.

  “Ah, city girl, eh?”

Seth set the boxes alongside the others. Lexi turned to watch him and found her eyes right on his bent over ass. As he straightened up, she continued upwards and traced the muscles in his back, strained against his button down shirt. Hot.

Seth turned with a knowing grin. Lexi blushed again. Her hormones were all over the place lately. It had been weeks without being touched and that was not a dry spell she’d ever known before. She couldn’t bring herself to be around people since the Lounge experience with Dante and Lacey. No, not just people…guys.

“Hey, it’s still early. Would you like a ride into town? I can show you where the stores are to stock up and stuff like that. Maybe introduce you to some of the people…” Seth’s voice trailed off.

Lexi continued back and forth to the car grabbing boxes, small bags and other items, barely acknowledging Seth while he spoke.

“Look, Seth, thank you but I am way too tired to tour the town. One of the boxes has a decent amount of dry goods, so I will just go with that for tonight.” Seth took a sudden interest in something invisible on his boot. “But, do you have some milk I can borrow? Maybe you can show me around town tomorrow.” Lexi gave him her biggest smile, hoping she hadn’t hurt the guy’s feelings.

“Yeah. I’ll be back in a bit.” Seth turned and headed down the gravel path towards his house.

I am such a jerk. No wonder everyone thinks city people are assholes.

Lexi watched as he went, his tight ass and muscular back giving her a serious case of the tingles down below.

“Thanks again for everything, Seth. I appreciate you helping me out.”

Lexi smiled and hoped her hot neighbor had forgiven her. He was the only possible friend she had right now. After he came by with the milk, and some fresh fruit from his yard, he barely said a word as he turned to his truck and drove off in the opposite direction, towards town. She’d spent the whole night tossing and turning. His gorgeous sapphire blue eyes twinkling at her, haunting her throughout the night. His warm calloused hands were all over her, touching her soft flesh. Hands that held her down as his mouth ravished her breasts, savoring her nipples. Then he fastened her wrists to the headboard with padded handcuffs and slowly trailed his tongue down her stomach, leaving a wet trail towards her pussy. She writhed under him and he placed one strong hand on her belly, keeping her still. He moved away then, trailing his kisses along the inside of one leg, from her ankle to her upper thigh, across her belly then down the other leg in reverse. Her body trembled as she began to beg him to put his mouth in the one place he kept avoiding.

Hearing her beg, he smiled wickedly at her and winked. Then his expert tongue was licking her clit and her body bucked from the pleasure. He licked, nibbled and kissed until she begged for release.

  “Lexi?”

Damn. Not again. First it was her alarm clock keeping her from orgasm and now, she plummeted back to earth as Seth spoke to her from across the table.

“You seemed far away. You ok?” Seth stared at her.

“Sorry. I was just remembering something.” Lexi looked down and realized her food had been served.

“Must’ve been something amazing. You had the sexiest smile on your face just now.”

“Uh. Yeah. It was.” Lexi shoved some food unceremoniously into her mouth trying to avoid sharing her fantasy.

“Well, you’ve seen just about everything in town. And, of course, the bigger cities are only a couple hours away, if you need something a bit more exciting.”

“It’s beautiful here. The people were so nice to me. Guess it helps that I was with you.”

“Well, I am from here, but I did go away to college for a few years, so I know this isn’t exactly an exciting place.”

“What do you do for a living?”

“I own a garage in town.”

  “Are you closed today?”

“No. My assistant, Henry, runs the place on Saturdays. Unless we’ve got a lot of work, then I go in too.”

  “Nice.”

“You mentioned you’re a writer. What type of writing?”

“An advice column for a small publication.”

  “Advice on what?”

“Lifestyle kinds of stuff for single women.”

“So you’re an expert on being single then?”

Lexi almost choked on her steak fries. “Yep.”

  “Interesting.”

“It pays the bills.” Lexi trailed a fry in a glob of ketchup. “But, I like the research and when I hear that my advice helps someone, it makes me feel great.”

“So, what do single women look for in their men?”

  “What?”

“I imagine that is a topic of interest, isn’t it?”

Lexi laughed. “Oh you bet. But, I can’t tell you that stuff. Gives you an unfair advantage you know.”

Seth laughed. “I suppose. Let me ask you a question then. What do you look for in your man?”

Lexi blushed. It had been too long and her sexual frustration had her bound up like a tight wire.

“Well, I’ll tell you what I agree with that other woman have said. How’s that?”

  “I’ll take it.”

“A man that is honest, caring, strong but not overbearing, dominant but not controlling and above all else is faithful and unafraid of commitment.”

  “Interesting.”

“However, I find most women tend to over look some of those things when their man is thoroughly attentive to their needs. It’s as if he becomes attuned to them once he understands what makes them truly happy.”

“And what makes you truly happy, Lexi?”

“No comment.” Lexi chuckled. “Maybe sometime I will tell you. For right now, I think I need to figure it out first.”

  “Fair enough.”

They spent the rest of the afternoon strolling around the town, talking about trivial things. Seth shared funny stories about the little town and his time at college. Lexi shared stories about some of the articles and questions her readers would pose to her. Over all, they had a really nice afternoon and Lexi was sad when he dropped her off at the cottage.

“Night, Lexi,” Seth gave her a chaste kiss on the forehead. “I had a really nice time today.”

Lexi closed her eyes at the touch of his soft lips on her. She wanted those lips everywhere, feeling their heat scorch her most intimate areas. Her hands came up to his muscled chest and felt the hot skin through his Rolling Stones t-shirt. Her palms slowly trailed down, moving on their own, feeling every ripple of his abs.

“Lexi.” Seth’s voice husky next to her ear.

  “Seth”

“I need to go now, Lexi.”

Lexi opened her eyes to study his face. Was he rejecting her? Her eyes trailed over his face, from his burrowed forehead, to his eyes darkened with desire, to his beautiful lips. Pain echoed in his expression..

“I will call you tomorrow.” With that, Seth gave her a small kiss on her cheek and left her there on her porch.

Lexi sat in the deep claw foot tub soaking away the pain. She’d spent the majority of the day working on the yard, pulling weeds and raking. Her bod
y ached from her sun burnt scalp to her toes. The lavender bath salts brought her to an almost sleepy state as she soaked and thought about the unusual phone conversation with Seth earlier in the day.

  “Hey, Seth.”

  “Hi, Lexi”

“Thanks again for the tour yesterday.”

“Sure. Anytime. I am glad you enjoyed it.”

There was an awkward silence. Lexi was unsure if she read Seth right and wondered if he was interested in her.

Seth finally said, “Lexi, I have to be straight with you. I like you. I am attracted to you. But, there are some things about me that you probably won’t like and I don’t want to hurt you.”
