Her hands bawled the sheets tightly as she tried to hang onto her senses when they threatened to overload her brain. “OK. I’ll come by the hospital later and speak to him.”
Helen slid down the bed, kissing his chest, and his stomach before working her way down to the prize her mouth wanted to claim. “Is everything OK?” she murmured.
He didn’t know what to say to her. Mainly because he didn’t know what to do. In all of his adult life, he had one hard and fast rule. Don’t sleep with employees.

“I know. I think it has a lot to do with how he’s feeling with his heart and everything.”
“That’s understandable. But once he’s back on his feet and behind his desk, he’ll soon get over it.”
“The thing is. He’s not planning to go back to his desk.”
“Oh. So who is going to run the...” She finally realised what he was saying, sitting up she pulled the sheets over her body, hiding from him. His heart lurched in his chest. He was in danger of losing her. “You’re going to run the bank.”
“That’s what he wants.”
“And what do you want?”
“That doesn’t matter, I owe it to him.”
“And us?”
“I promised you a job at the bank. That promise still stands.”
“But you’ll be my boss?”
“Yes.
” He looked at her, his eyes full of longing, but also tinged with pain. “Helen, I told you yesterday. My one unbreakable rule is that I don’t date employees.”
“You mean I have to choose?”
“I’m afraid so, Helen.”
