“Don’t mind him Tom”, said Jenny (creating some kind of rap pal between the guys). “Sky’s just looking fabulously trendy which has always been his trademark, this days”.
Then, Mat came in. “Gosh! Bro, you should be in Hollywood for you are such a star”, said Mat (to Sky’s new look). “I bet you, guys the whole school will be ablaze today by you, Sky”.” That you Mat”, replied Sky “You have taste and you’re true friend unlike Tom who’s being ridiculous earlier”.
“Nobody is being ridiculous Sky”, said Jenny (once again trying to create rap pal).” It’s just a surprise that’s all”.
They all made a few walk to the main bus stop which was away from their neighborhood. It’s just a few minutes’ walk. When they got there and the bus arrived once again, Sky exerts his influence to sit beside Jenny. And Mat and Tom sat behind.
Later in the day during break, Sky called on Mat to meet with him at the school stadium.
“Mat, thank you for coming here with me”, said Sky.
“What up with you bro!” replied Mat. “I understand you trying to do that which you should have done long ago”.
“And what is that if I may ask “, said Sky. “Jenny off course”, replied Mat.
“Thanks man!” said Sky. “But what I don’t understand is why Jenny always defends Tom?”
“You getting yourself worked up bro!” replied. Mat. “Relax man; perhaps, he’s just the weariest link among us. But I must confess, I’ m.
“No you not”, said Sky. “Man. You got fame he would never dream of having.
“Anyway my gut feeling says there’s something we don’t know about them. I’m saying this because I’ve never seen the like of Jenny, who isn’t move or flattered by my sensuality. And she always defends poor Tom. She never talk bad of him ever, has she?” asked Tom.
“You may be right but you can’t be too sure”, replied Mat. “I’ve an idea. Why don’t we’ve a serious heart to heart talk with Tom? Then we shall know the truth, man.”
So it went that Mat called Tom to meet with them at the school stadium after closing but Jenny must not be aware, just boys out.
Sky and Mat got there earlier. After much waiting, Tom arrived and Sky was quick to voice out his annoyance by saying “You’ve kept us waiting, this is not cool. “Which is not cool?” replied Tom (with a high tone). “Keeping you waiting or avoiding Jenny, now that she goanna go home all alone. What explanation do we have for her?”
“We shall think of that later Man”, said Mat (trying to calm nerves) “Now, it’s first thing first.”
“What the hell is a first thing first? Its better be reasonable that you both brought me here to talk about. First thing first”, replied Tom (in an unfriendly tone)
“It’s not about you, Tom believe you me. It’s about Jenny” said Mat again trying to calm Tom down). “Yea it’s about Jenny. How much is she to you that we don’t know about, Tom?” asked Sky with curiosity.
“She’s a very gorgeous spirited person. We all know that, don’t we?” asked Tom. “I love her and I know everybody loves her too. You guys wish she had one of you as a boyfriend. I tried to make that one me like every one of us. But she isn’t too sure if that is what she wants, at least not now according to her” replied Tom (with serious intent).
“You mean you do not have any romantic involvement with her yet. Then what about your closeness with her?” asked Sky (with a mixed reaction of shock and relieve).
“I mean what I said earlier, okay! As for our closeness, it’s complicated” said Tom. “She said I did have the facial resemblance of her father. And that she said drown her to me since the first day she saw me. She also said she was inspired by my career dream, and my warmth personality which very well corresponded with her spirited personality.
But for reason(s) best known to her, she hates to be pushed into a romantic relationship, until her spirit finds it most convenient and mature. And I very well respect that, don’t you Sky?” asked Tom (very keenly)
“Do you know anything about her dad’s death?” asked Mat.
“No! She rather not talk about her dad’s death”, replied Tom. “I think for her talking about her dad’s death, really work her up emotionally. So better respect that right?”
“Anyway!” said Sky “What does she think about me, about our being popular in school? Has she confided with you about that at all?” asked Sky (with a social expression hoping for some good response).
“If it may surprise you to know she never talks about you or anybody to me. She only talks about us! And I don’t bother to ask her because I know she isn’t a gossip, neither am I. Got that” replied Tom sarcastically.
“Perhaps, then, I should know if she likes me or not. Just ask her out to be my girlfriend and prom queen. I’m too hot for her to resist” replied Sky (rather rudely).
“Go ahead Sky”, said Tom.”I know your intention, it doesn’t bother me. But if you hurt her, you hurt me. Got that!” warned Tom.
And with that, Tom walked out, creating a rather complicated scenario for everybody. But this isn’t goanna make Sky back down. For Mat, he’s quite confused about whose interest to play along with. Yet he doesn’t see anything wrong with Sky’s intention of asking Jenny out if possible. After all, Tom and Jenny aren’t having any romantic involvement, according to Tom.
Chapter Five
When Tom got home, he couldn’t check on Jenny because he hasn’t figure out what to tell her. Jenny quite saw him when he arrived home she expected him to come to her with some sort of explanation as to why he and the other boys stayed behind after school. She knows something was up among them.
“Sky must be responsible”, she thought.” And this must have been about me” she is convinced.
Later that night, it was once again Tom’s turn to play their little night secret by going to sleep at Jenny’s room. He couldn’t miss out his turn; “That shall be adding fuel to fire”, Tom thought.
At 12 on the dot exactly, Tom was already knocking at Jenny’s window; coo or……….coo or….. coo or… When Jenny held the sound she knew its Tom. She rose from her bed, and dashed to her window. She opened the window and Tom threw himself in, this time unharmed.
“Hi Jenny, I know you are very worried about me with the other boys today!” (Tom quickly confronted Jenny with the truth). “First, I sincerely apologize” said Tom.
“Your apology I can only accept on the condition that you tell me all what happen, the whole truth and nothing but the truth”, Jenny requested.
Then, Tom narrated everything to her in details, and felt pleased.
“I appreciate your total honesty and I accept your apology”, said Jenny (romantically). “But let’s talk about us. I shall take care of Sky and Mat by Tomorrow all by myself” she concluded
“So what about us, you want to talk about”, said Tom (romantically). “Let’s say you are in control, leading me on. I’ll always believe in us no matters how long it takes Jenny. As a matter of fact, I love you!”
“Tom! You’re so sweet! They are things you don’t know about my past. Things you are dying to know but I don’t want to talk about that now. I promise to tell you and the other boys when it’s most convenient for me to do so” said Jenny.
“Don’t worry my dear Jenny, just take your time Okay!” replied Tom.
“I must confess that you guys have been a healing process for me all this years. And I’ m grateful especially to you… I see my dad every day in you I must confess” said Jenny.
“You’re such an inspiration to us all especially me, you know! And if you’re these beautiful in-side-out to everybody, it goes to show that you can be infinitely beautiful when you’re fully recovered from your thunderous past emotional experience!” replied Tom.
“I truly desire to know you infinitely for the rest of my life! And he stared at the beautiful black eyes of Jenny. In the same way Jenny stared wonderment at the beautiful blue-white eye of Tom. Then, suddenly, there came a kiss. This was an intense long
romantic kiss. And his beautiful blue-white eyes were wild open with joy and astonishment. But her beautiful big black eyes were close in adoration for the whole of their first romantic kiss. This romantic experience took just 1min.
But this 1min marks the era of their love and romantic relationship. Their relationship was never again the same from then on. She put her head in his warmth chest, and he put his arms round her warmth body. And they both lay down on the bed. Then he rolled up the covering mattress over them and put off the light. And a great silent night of sweet dreams consumed their hearts till morning.
The next day, Jenny had already made up her mind to confront Sky, but she wish to do so without Tom’s involvement.
Once again the four of them got into their usual morning bus to school. By now Sky is most determine to be with Jenny. When she made her entry into the bus, she kept a sit next to her for Tom though it’s unusual for her to do such previously until now. But before Tom could make his entry into the bus and eventually occupied that specially kept sit by Jenny, Sky had taken advantage of Jenny’s unusual courtesy. Tom just knew that Sky was up to something, and he curiously sat behind Jenny at the wind shade corner of the bus. And Mat, who’s eager to Sky at work, sat behind him right next to Tom.
“Jenny! What do you think about the football team?” asked Sky just to get her personal attention.
“Whoa!” replied Jenny. “I’m very positive that with your awesome performance we can clinch this year’s series”.
“But it’s going to take an awesome and inspiring cheer-leading performance too, you know”, said Sky. “Your cheer-leading performance is going to drive home, mentality in our blood. And that can make the difference. Do you know you always electrify the atmosphere with your cheer-leading team just like I do with mine football team? We’re one heck of a complement”
“On the contrary, you shall be the hero, if we win and not me. You get the scholarship, and not me. Sky! I think you should focus on that scholarship” replied Jenny (candidly).
“That’s sweet of you to say, Jenny! You’re a very sweet personality to everybody everywhere both at home, and in school! How do you manage to be this special? I’m curious?” asked Sky (bringing his voice down).
“What do you want Sky that you don’t have or can have if I may ask?” replied Jenny (with Intent).
“I want you to make me the hero you said I should be if and when we win the series come this Saturday “, said Sky. “ Believe you me; I can’t do it without you in my heart like you should!”
Then, Jenny scripted on a piece of paper, and she gave it to Sky. Sky took it, and read it to himself. It read: ‘meet me at the canteen by noon alone!’
This was enough to make Sky the happiest man on earth today!
When the bus got to the school premises, Sky extends some courtesy to her by taking her hand and kissing it then bow to express his pleasant departure. Mat accosted him on the way: “Hey man! Did you forfeit me in good time?” “Don’t mind my good feeling?” replied Sky. I think I can possess her love by the end of today, I can’t wait!” Then he showed the scripted piece of paper to Mat to read. And he read it. But he didn’t really felt Sky’s confidence. Yet he felt he should encourage him.
“Man! You’ve got to make this happen one time!”
“Yea, you’re right bro! I shall see you later afterwards, then” replied Sky (thoughtfully).
Before noon that day, Sky had organized everything well enough at the canteen. He’d sneaked out of school to buy wine and flowers, then set-up a table for two. He even set-up good romantic music by the canteen attendants. Now everything he’s made romantically attractive for him and Jenny. When she arrived she’s so thrilled that the frustration, with which she came, was softened
“Whoa! Dear sensual and romantic friend I must say you have what it takes to spin a girl’s head over her own heart” said Jenny (in compliment to Sky.
“What a compliment Jenny! Believe you me, I can do anything for you just to express how much you mean to me, girl!” replied Sky (very romantically).
“Sky! Why do this to Tommy and me? You can have any girl you want; you know how much they are crazy about you. I’m not as crazy about you like them, and never will. As a matter of fact, we’re just coincidence!” said Jenny
“I don’t believe you and Tom has anything romantically special, at least he told me that, and Mat is a witness. And I don’t believe we’re just some coincidence. What I do believe is that you’re a rear beauty, and I’m possessed by that, can’t you see. Just let me love you the way love really should be between two like us. I promise you will not regret it” replied Sky (affirming a passionate love for Jenny).
“No, Sky! It’s not about you or your love, but it’s about me. I can’t love you and I mustn’t be selfish trying to give what I don’t have to give. You deserve better. I’m sorry!” said Jenny.
“Ho! Jenny! I’m not asking you to love me. I’m only asking you to let me love you. Come to think of it. The Bible makes us to understand that God loves us first ever before man saw the need to love Him back, love begets love, that is the principle” replied Sky (with an intense stare at Jenny’s face). Now, Sky has caught Jenny confused. And short of words.
“Stop this Sky. You’re getting me sick minded, and I don’t appreciate it. I want to be the one to love first and not the one to be loved first. I understand. I probably let you on with this fantasy of yours. I just thought you were smart enough to distinguish between fantasy and reality. I’ve been there once when my father passed away” said Jenny (now starting to get emotional about her past).
“I’m sorry if I’m getting you so worked up. I just want you to know that what I bring is good fact not fantasy. Just think about it” replied Sky (bringing this conversation into the future).
“There’s nothing to think about, Sky, Well! In life certain things can’t be man-made, such as the specialty of the heart and destiny. I’ve found these with Tommy, and I know it’s the truth! I can’t find these with you, and that it’s another truth!” said Jenny (she confessed her love for Tommy to Sky).
“But, Tom isn’t who you should consider to win your heart when you have me around. Please! Listen to the aspirations of the people, who recognizes us for who we are and should be” replied Sky (raising his voice).
“Bull-shit! You can eat your ego for love. But don’t ego with mine heart! She warned (as she leaves the tables).
“Watch me! I shall prove to you that I’m better off than Tom before the people and before your very heart! He promised.
Sky is now furious with Jenny for the shame she is bent on bringing.
”I must prove to all my folks that I’m the man. But Jenny is frustrating my effort. What shall I do?” thought Sky.
“How can I even open up to Mat that she turn me down flat that things never worked out as I planned it. Whoa! I should speak to Mat. He’s my one man friend on this” Sky concluded his thought.
So, right away, Sky called Mat over to the canteen rather urgently. Mat being always a friend to rely on quickly made himself available at the canteen in a short while.
“Man! What’s up? Where’s Jenny?” asked Mat (with dismay).
“She walked out on me, can you imagine. She even warned me not to ego with her heart. How heartbroken can that be? I’ve never been so humiliated this much in my life!” Sky lamented in sorrow.
“What do you intend to do now, Sky?” asked Mat.
“I’ve got to have a plan. Say by tomorrow. It’s tough for me to think smart about a plan right now. Today’s not my day, I must confess” replied Sky (with frustration).
“Now you’re talking, but you get to cheer up for tomorrow shall be your day!” said Mat (as he tries to cheer him up).
After a while, Sky puts his emotions together, and ordered for the table to be cleared.
The next day, Sky had slept over with an idea of what to do in order to force her onto him. He’s become very determine to prove himself among folks in
school over Jenny.
“If I could force her to at least dance to my tune to the knowledge of folks in school, I would have maintained my pride”, he confessed to himself. “This I must do” he confirmed his resolution.
Now life among the four of them has become strain yet Sky wouldn’t mine.
“Jenny is just trying to punish my emotions but I get to prove to her that I’m smarter”, Sky said to Mat. “I can put her where she belongs and poor Tom will be off the picture. Otherwise I should at least protect my pride. Who the hell is Tom to Sabotage Jenny and me? If we can find something on them which I believe there is. Then, we can use that on Jenny. What do you think?” Sky asked Mat.
“I got you man”, replied Mat. “That’s brilliant”.
“Thanks man! You’ve made my day. You’re a through friend”, said Sky (as he embraced Mat).
Chapter Six
A situation among this once three plus one brotherhood has deteriorated in the past couple of days or so. Jenny and Tom no longer co-exist with Sky and Mat like before. They thought by doing this, they avoid the chance of them messing with their hearts and minds.
But, Sky and Mat are looking forward for their room raiding exploit on Saturday. The Saturday when the big game of the California series grand final high school football, be played. The excitement of the big game and the room raiding exploit plans keeping Sky extra-ordinarily up for the weekend. And Mat is sharing in his friend’s good spirit heading to the weekend also.
On the Saturday Jenny is feeling somewhat misplace in her interest and passion for the big game. She feels like to stay at home but then, she has responsibility to perform as the cheer-leader. So she tried so hard to put her upset behind and find her passion for her responsibility as the cheer-leader of the big game. Afterwards she and her mother and her entire neighborhood honor their presence at the big game.
As the football stadium is packed full, the host team and the visitor’s team are warming up at their various stands. Their fans are roaring behind them in enthusiasm and excitement. The cheer dancers are doing a well package fanfare.
