  “Eager little mate.”

“I missed you,” Dave said, slipping out of Forrest’s lap and beginning to strip. His powerful werewolf mate watched him with undisguised interest. Dave did a little strip show, peeling off his shirt, then dropped his trousers and jeans, until he stood in front of his mate, bared and naked.

“Come here,” Forrest said, voice turning growly.

A shiver of anticipation crawled down his spine as he knelt in front of Forrest. Forrest’s gaze turned intense as Dave slipped down Forrest’s pants, unveiling his mate’s rock-hard erection. Dave licked his lips in anticipation. Leaning in close, he felt Forrest threading his fingers through his hair and bringing him close, until his lips touched Forrest’s dick.

He flicked his tongue over Forrest’s pre-cum, tasting Forrest’s need. His werewolf let out a rumble of approval as he began to lick and explore the length and breadth of his mate.

“No games, I need to be inside you soon,” Forrest said.

That only kickstarted his heart. Opening his mouth wider, he began to take Forrest’s dick into his mouth. He gagged once, nearly forgetting how big Forrest was, then tried again. Dave succeeded this time around. He ran his teeth, lips, and tongue over Forrest’s prick, sucking down hard. Dave bobbed his head up and down a few times before Forrest gave his hair a tug.

Dave pulled his mouth away, looking up at his mate for further instructions. Forrest rose to his feet, dick engorged and at full length. He groaned, own prick near bursting.

“Hands and knees,” Forrest instructed, helping him to position. His mate walked in front of him and leaned in close for an unexpected kiss. “I fucking love you so much, baby,” Forrest said after.

His heart swelled at those words.

“I love you back,” he answered without hesitation.

Forrest made a quick trip to their bedroom and returned with the lube. His mate returned to position and Dave widened his stance, blushing as he realized Forrest could probably see all of him, his asshole, heavy balls, and hard dick. Forrest ran his fingers down his hole, his privates, and growled out a single word.

  “Mine.”

“Yours,” Dave agreed, the same way his wolf belonged to him.

Forrest then worked slicked fingers into his entrance, prodding him open. He moaned, impatient for his mate to replace fingers with the real thing. Forrest slapped his ass once, twice, making him jump.

  “Be patient, baby.”

Then a shocking thing happened. Forrest’s breath hovered close to his hole. He squirmed, only for Forrest to grip his ass cheeks apart. Then he felt the sensation of Forrest’s tongue inside the bundle of nerves in his ass. He moaned, shifted, but Forrest kept him in place. He mewled as Forrest swept his tongue in and out of him, tongue-fucking him.

Forrest didn’t stop there. Keeping one hand on Dave’s leg, Forrest reached for his balls, fondled them, then began tugging and pulling at his cock. He cried out as Forrest began playing with his prick, tugging and pulling at his thickening shaft. At this rate, he’d come from this alone. Dave held it back, though, not wanting to come off like a teenager who couldn’t control his own body.

Damn it, though. Forrest was talented with his mouth. His mate kept teasing him, putting his entire body on edge.

“I need you in me,” he uttered.

“Fuck,” Forrest said, pulling his mouth away. It seemed his mate couldn’t wait any longer, either, because Forrest rose to his feet again and pushed two digits in his ass, beginning to widen him for access. Finally, Forrest’s leaking cockhead brushed against his hole. He gripped the floor, letting out a shudder as Forrest finally pushed his way in.

His mate sheathed himself fully inside Dave’s ass, rendering Dave momentarily breathless. Forrest’s balls brushed against his ass, and the werewolf’s dick felt so massive inside him, stretching him completely. Forrest paused, as if giving him time to recover his breathing.

“Hurt?” Forrest asked, blanketing his huge body over his back, to place a proprietary kiss on the mate mark on his neck.

He shook his head, knowing his mate would soon bring him pleasure. Forrest righted himself up again, gripped his hips, and began to move, strokes steady as if he wanted Dave to get used to his girth. Moans slipped from his lips.

  “Faster,” Dave managed to say.

Forrest picked up the pace, going deeper and deeper. He let out a groan and began thrusting his ass at his mate, meeting Forrest for every push. Dave relished this. Each time their bodies connected, it felt like their hearts and souls did the same. He could almost sense Forrest’s inner animal, the wolf that wouldn’t hesitate to give his life for Dave’s. Dave realized he loved both the man and wolf that lived inside the skin of his mate.

He repeated the three little words, not caring how corny he sounded, smiling when Forrest said them back.

Forrest must have shifted the angle of his hips, because his mate hit his sensitive spot. He cried out, gasped, back arching as Forrest went for it again. At the same time, Forrest reached for his prick and began working it back and forth. Dave’s balls tightened against his body. The pressure building inside him threatened to spill over.

“I won’t hold out long,” he whispered.

“Then don’t. I want to hear you come undone for me, baby.” Forrest began hammering in and out of him with gusto, at the same time pumping his dick with his large and callused hand. Forrest pinched his tip and that did the trick. Every muscle in his body relaxed. Dave screamed out his mate’s name in pleasure as he came, emptying his balls and spilling his jizz all over Forrest’s fingers.

Forrest wasn’t done with him yet. His mate pistoned in and out of him several more times, the sound of their flesh slapping against each other filling the air, before Forrest growled out his triumph. Dave felt Forrest’s cum, filling his ass moments later.

They ended up all tangled over each other on the floor, with him resting his head on Forrest’s massive, rock-hard body. Dave sighed in contentment, curling against his mate who placed one steel-banded arm possessively over the curve of his back.

“Wow,” was all he could manage to say.

“I missed you, too,” Forrest told him.

“We should,” he began, forgetting his words because Forrest’s hands on his back felt so damn good. Dave felt like a kitten, all nestled up in the warm body of his mate. Who needed a bed or blankets anyway, when he had Forrest? Then he remembered Sabine telling him Elaine was going to come see them. “Elaine,” he blurted.

Forrest chuckled. “Felt her approach the door moments ago, but she left. Wise woman.”

Horrified, he looked at his mate. “You should have told me.”

“What for? You were so hot and heavy for me. Why break that wonderful rhythm we’re having?” Forrest asked.

He blushed. “What would she think? That I’d jump your bones as soon as you woke up? What if she lectures me about not letting the patient rest?”

Elaine, he thought, was scary in her own way, too, even though the elderly woman wasn’t a scary enforcer or Alpha with hellish black eyes and fur.

“Then we’ll just tell her to mind her own business.”

  Chapter Eighteen

“You nervous?” Forrest asked his mate after parking his truck in front of the pack compound.

The last time he brought his mate, Dave didn’t receive a positive reception, at first anyway. Forrest had been certain a few packmates no longer saw Dave as a threat after Dave played with the pups.

He didn’t care what the other werewolves thought of his mate. Dave had risked his life for three pups that were not his own, and if Dave didn’t transfer some of his life force to Forrest, Forrest wouldn’t be alive today. True, they needed Deacon’s help, but Dave had given up his energy unthinkingly. Forrest got those details from Sabine, because he’d only been semiconscious after taking four silver bullets.

“There’s nothing to be worried about, right?” Dave asked.

He leaned in close, fisted Dav
e’s shirt, and gave his mate a kiss of encouragement. According to Sabine, this was all just formal ceremony, but who knew if Deacon changed his mind? Deacon wound up saving his life, but what if the Alpha still thought that his and Dave’s presence in the pack would only endanger the community further?

Forrest realized he wouldn’t hold any grudges against his Alpha if it came to that. He parted from the kiss, liking how dazed Dave looked. Dave smiled back at him and he realized how far his little human had come. When they first visited the compound, Dave had looked so nervous. When they first had sex, Dave had been self-conscious about himself, too. Not anymore.

A confident and sexy man now looked him in his eyes.

  Mate. Mine.

Forrest didn’t realize he uttered the words until Dave said, “Yes.”

“Come on, let’s get this over with,” Forrest said, getting out of the car.

Dave did the same and they walked inside the compound. On their way to the main pack house where Deacon held most of their meetings, they’d been stopped multiple times. Firstly, by the grateful parents of the pups.

Jane, mother of Tammy, held Dave’s hands in hers. Jane’s husband Simon, a loyal fighter for the pack, nodded to him. “Thank you for bringing back my daughter safely,” Jane said.

Dave looked embarrassed. “Anyone would have done the same.”

“No matter what the Alpha decides today,” Jane told him. “You’re Forrest’s mate and you’ve shown everyone you’re one of us.”

Dave swallowed and Forrest saw tears in his little human’s eyes. Dave hastily swiped them away. “Thank you, those words mean a lot.”

“If it came to a pack vote, know that we, the parents of the pups you saved, will support for you and Forrest to remain with us. We need more strong, mated couples like you in the pack,” said Arnold, Marshall’s father.

Dave looked overwhelmed by all the thanks and support, but Forrest knew those words meant the world to his mate.

“Daryl’s also done his share of convincing the other werewolf teenagers to support his brother,” Sabine told him earlier that day.

Finally, they reached the pack house. Some of the senior pack members were scattered on the first floor, but Forrest gently steered his mate upstairs, to where Deacon conducted special meetings with his Beta and other enforcers.

Sabine stood outside the door, nodded to him and Dave, then opened it. Forrest sucked in a breath. It wasn’t just Deacon in there, but Lance was in attendance, as well as all the other enforcers. What did this mean?

Dave reached for his hand, and he gave it a squeeze. Everything would be fine, Forrest told himself. Their plans hadn’t changed in case Deacon didn’t let them stay. They’d head toward one of the communities that accepted humans, and they’d have a head start, too, since it didn’t look like the Discipline Squad would be sending reinforcements soon.

They went inside, with Sabine following them and closing the door behind her, sealing them inside the room. His wolf grew wary, alert. Forrest didn’t take his gaze off the others in the room. All the men and women there were equivalent to several senior pack fighters, each enforcer deadly as the next, and he couldn’t forget Lance. The Beta balanced out Deacon effectively by being the calm and logical one.

“Forrest, three days ago, you and your mate showed us that it was a mistake to let you leave the pack,” Deacon said in a harsh voice, black gaze pinning his.

The wolf inside him quieted. He didn’t sense any aggressive energy in the room, so that definitely ruled out an execution.

Forrest blinked at those words. Deacon never apologized to anyone, and yet he had a feeling this was his version of an apology.

“I’ve spoken with Lance and the rest of the enforcers, and they all agreed. You’ll remain as one of the pack’s enforcers and, of course, your mate is allowed to remain by your side,” Deacon finished.

“What if we don’t want to stay?” Forrest interrupted.

Dave squeezed his hand in warning but didn’t regret his words. Forrest had a right to his opinions, too. Deacon would let them stay? Out of the goodness of his heart because he’d tolerate Dave? No. Forrest didn’t need this bullshit. Dave deserved more respect than that.

Deacon narrowed his gaze, a growl tickling out of him.

“Deacon, wait,” Lance interrupted, then looked him in the eye. “Explain, Forrest.”

“I consider this pack family, but if the other wolves can’t accept my mate, then what’s the point of staying? Dave risked his life to save three pups. Plenty of packmates have also seen how he didn’t hesitate to give his life for me. Deacon, do you still consider him a threat after all that?” he demanded.

  Someone swore.

“Forrest, threatening the Alpha isn’t wise,” Santino said, flashing him a razor-edged smile. “If Deacon decides you need to die, I’ll gladly do it.”

Sabine interrupted her brother, looking to Deacon. “Dave’s actions proved that not all humans are our enemies. To survive, our pack needs to adapt to the changing world. Who knows what our real enemies are plotting?”

“What do you care about the pack’s survival, if you plan on dying in a few years?” Santino snapped.

“Enough, Santino. You’re not contributing to the argument,” Max said with a snarl. “Alpha, I agree with her. Dave proved himself three days ago. He’s pack.”

Max’s words meant a lot to him.

“Forrest, Sabine made a good point. We need all our warriors, in the upcoming days ahead,” Lance said. “We need your strength and the courage of your mate.”

“I want to hear those words from the Alpha,” he said, daring to do what he’d never done before. He met Deacon’s black gaze, but he knew he could only push his Alpha so far. “Is what Lance says true?”

Tension mounted in the room. Deacon finally answered him. “Yes. I want you and your mate to stay. My hatred of humans won’t disappear overnight, but I can accept the fact your mate is important to you and you are vital to the pack,” Deacon finally said, his words directed at both of them.

“Then…” Forrest said, looking at his mate, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

He didn’t need to be a mind reader to know his mate thought of the same thing. He’d known in his heart that their future lay within Devil Hills. Dave agreed, too. After all, Daryl was here, and Dave was beginning to understand the concept of family, too.

Forrest looked Deacon in the eye and answered, “We’re here to stay. Indefinitely.”
