Applause and calls of congratulations burst out throughout the diner. All the patrons’ eyes had been glued on the happy couple.
Up by the register, Katy watched them for a minute, seeing them gaze into each other’s eyes as though there was no one else in the cafe. Smiling, she said to Clarisse quietly, “I knew they’d get along.”
Clarisse laughed. “You haven’t lost your touch, boss! You just make sure to let me know when my man walks through our doors.”
“You know I will, Clarisse. He’s out there, and I’ll find him for you,” Katy promised.
“No rush. I’m willing to wait until I can find what those two have,” Clarisse said and gestured toward Chase and Sophie, who were still lost in each other’s gaze.
Katy nodded absently, already working on a more difficult problem. She’d found Sophie’s true love. Now, if I could just find somebody for her father . . .
