Revelations of the Night Before Page 16

by Lynn Raye Harris

“What are you working on?” he asked.

“The latest projections. I believe you’re going to turn a profit, caro.”

Nico dipped and kissed her on the forehead. “Thanks to you, my beautiful financial guru.”

In the last year, they’d managed to infuse Gavretti Manufacturing with the cash it needed, sell off some of the Gavretti assets, and put the bulk of the estate back in the black. True to his word, Nico had put her to work right away in his accounting department—and he’d given her access to his entire fortune and all his business ventures. As a busy wife and mother, she often worked from home—and she loved what she did. Every day, she had her fingers in billions of euros worth of assets. And it felt damn good. She was proud of what she’d accomplished, and excited about what the future held.

“Faith called,” she said as Nico bounced the baby. “They want us to come for dinner tomorrow.”

  “Then we shall go.”

Tina smiled. It hadn’t been an easy year for her brother and Nico, but they were learning to tolerate each other. Perhaps even to like each other again, though it was too soon to really know that for certain.

“I love you, Nico,” she said, standing and hugging him and the baby both.

“You should,” he teased. “Name another husband who would get up in the middle of the night to feed the baby while his wife slept.”

She could think of a few—her brother most certainly, according to Faith—but she didn’t say so.

“I think he’s asleep,” she murmured.

Nico looked down. “So he is.”

They took him to his room and then lay him in the crib. Nico’s fingers twined with hers as they stood there together and watched their son breathe.

“He is the most perfect thing I’ve ever done.”

Tina slid her arms around him and kissed his jaw. “I’m sure I can think of one or two other things you do perfectly.”

He turned until their bodies were melded breast to belly to hip, until she could feel the burgeoning evidence of his desire for her, until his lips slid along her throat and she gasped softly.

“Tell me what these things are,” he whispered in her ear, “and I’ll do them for you.”

Tina shivered. “You might want to prepare yourself then,” she said. “Because it’s going to be a very long night.”

He chuckled softly. “I’m counting on it, amore mio.”
