Trudy nodded and closed her eyes. She knew she needed the rest. Today was going to be a busy day.
Chapter Eleven
A few hours later, Trudy and Dewey got dressed and went down the hall to the main room. She didn’t even glance at the room where Ronnie and Amanda were. She wouldn’t let herself think about them, not right now. She needed to be focused on what she needed to do today.
Everyone was waiting for her to arrive and when she did, everyone had questions. Holding up her hands she explained, “It would just be easier to tell you what I found, so please bear with me.” She moved around the table and fired up her secure computer. Then she glanced up at the many faces around her. “This cartel is operated here on American soil. They are just miles from the Mexican border but definitely on this side of the border. I found they are running not only drugs but guns as well. I have evidence that they deliver and accept their products with the assistance of two different MCs. I also found they take dirty money and clean it up and they like to buy and sell women in four different countries. They’re getting ready to ship five kidnapped women to South America.”
Dewey took over explaining what was to happen, “Stone contacted someone he knows and together, they are planning a major take down. With civilian help, we are hoping to crush them today.”
Trudy nodded. “I was able to hack into the book keeper’s computer and today I plan to take the cartel for every single penny they’ve got. Not only from their business account but their personal ones as well. And not only the cartels accounts but every single person that they do business with and I’m sorry to say that does include the MCs.”
“You do what you do best baby girl.” Boomer growled. “Those MCs deserve everything they get. The dirty dogs.” He stomped his way to the kitchen grumbling the whole way. When he returned a moment later, he handed her a large cup of hot coffee. “Thought you might need that to get your heart started this morning.”
Trudy leaned over and kissed his cheek. “Thank you Boomer.” Then she sat down and began her task.
Someone turned on a television and changed the channel to the news station. There was nothing outstanding yet, but they all knew this would make the news at some point.
Several hours later, she stopped and hung her head. She felt wiped out. She tried to stand but her body hurt to move. She groaned softly and someone was there to help her up. She raised her eyes and for a brief moment, they were unfocused. She’d been in her own zone since shortly after she started. She was able to block out everything around her, so she could concentrate on what she was doing.
Looking up again, she found herself gazing into Stone’s eyes.
He was smiling.
“What’s going on?” she asked softly. Looking around the main room she found everyone was glued to the television screen. News flashes announced several leading stories, all connected to breaking up the cartel.
“Let’s just say some very bad men had a very bad day,” he murmured. “Law enforcement were crazy today. FBI and ATF swarmed three states and brought down an empire of drugs and guns. FBI found five kidnapped women and rescued them. The military recovered several shipments of stolen weapons. The weapons had been stolen from them on their way to be destroyed. The guns seemed to just disappear. No one had been able to find them in months. ATF found the biggest shipment of heroin and other drugs they’ve found before. Billions of dollars of street drugs have been destroyed. Somehow, a fire broke out at the storage warehouse. A fire that was allowed to burn.”
“Damn.” She grinned. “That’s too bad”
“Isn’t it?” he agreed. “Oh well, how did you do?”
She smiled evilly. “Everyone and I do mean everyone connected with this cartel is now without funds. All their experts will find is all the money was transferred into one account then it was gone. The account doesn’t even exist anymore.”
Dewey and a few men joined them. Dewey wrapped his arm around her waist and he leaned in to kiss her cheek. “It’s gone?”
“It’s gone, like it never existed.” She nodded. “No one will ever find it.”
“How much money are we talking about here?” Parker asked. “You said you took fourteen billion from the Taliban, what did you get from the cartel?”
“About two hundred billion, give or take.”
“Damn,” Parker whispered in the sudden silence that surrounded them.
When she raised her head, she found everyone had heard her. They all wore a shocked look on his or her face. “What?” she asked.
“Holy shit!” Colt swore. “That’s a lot of money.”
Trudy shrugged. “It was every penny they had. And now it’s gone.”
“We’ll have to keep her safe for some time to come,” Dewey announced to the group.
“She’s one of us now,” Stone said out loud. “I don’t see that as a problem.”
“We’ll have your back anytime you need us,” Boomer assured them. “Speaking of having your back,” He looked over at Trudy. “My boys got the bombs where you said they would be safe.”
“Okay, I’ll get Trent on it,” Trudy told him. “Tell your men to stand down and come home. Their job is done.”
Boomer reached for his phone.
“Maybe you can tell them to clear out the compound,” Stone suggested. “We haven’t seen our guests in a while but that doesn’t mean they’re gone. We can’t leave here until the coast is clear.”
Dewey turned to Stone. “Has anybody heard from the guys keeping an eye on Terik?”
“Nothing yet, so we can’t count him out,” Stone admitted. “I’m going to call Shay and check on things on his end.”
He moved away to make his call leaving Dewey and Trudy alone for the moment. She leaned against him. “I’m tired.”
“I’ll bet you are.” He kissed her temple. “You did an awesome job today, do you know that?”
She shrugged. “I did what needed to be done that’s all.”
Dewey grinned. “You did something awesome. Not very many people can do what you do.”
Trudy laughed. “Not many people would ever dream about doing what I did, let alone actually do it. These are the kind of people that do not like other people stealing from them. It tends to make them want to make an example out of anyone who would dare it.”
“And that makes you worry?” Dewey frowned.
“Amanda was right about one thing. What I did puts her life in danger as well as my own and Ronnie’s. The cartel may not have proof that I was behind this but they are the type of men who don’t need actual proof of a crime. They just take out anyone they think had a hand in it. They like to shoot first and ask questions later…if ever.”
“They were coming for you guys anyway, before this happened,” Dewey pointed out.
“That’s true enough.” She shrugged. “I’ve learned to live my life in secret. She never has. Ronnie may have thought he was hiding but if the cartel had him carry a tracker, he was never really safe from them at all. I don’t know what’s going to happen to them now.”
“I think Ronnie will be spending at least some time in jail then if he plays his cards right, he can get Witsec,” Dewey told her. “Amanda will figure out her own life. She may be mad now but she’ll get over it.” Wrapping his arms around her body he pulled her into his embrace. “And you, my dear girl have a new family. You are more than welcome to stay here with me for the rest of your life.”
Trudy blushed. “Really?”
“I promise,” Dewey vowed. “My brothers have accepted you all the way.”
“Okay, let me take care of some business then I’m all yours,” she whispered as she kissed him.
An hour later, a news flash on the news channel told the world that twenty seven bombs had been recovered. The announcer told the world that nobody knew what they were meant for but they were in the ATF’s custody and would be destroyed, so they couldn’t be used again.
Trudy turned to Stone. “Were they able to stop the attack on
the military leaders in Iraq?”
“Shay said he would be by in a couple of days to debrief us on the situation,” he replied. “We’ll have to wait until then to find out. I tried to call Brag but he was busy. Maybe if he has time, he’ll call me back.”
Trudy nodded. Suddenly, she felt tired. Everything came crashing down on her shoulders and the stress of the last few days wiped her out. Without a word to anyone, she got up and went down the hall. When she closed the door to the bedroom, she stumbled over to the bed and flopped herself down. Closing her eyes, she felt the tears begin. For the moment, she let her tears soak the pillow. Then she heard the door opened and Dewey sat down beside her.
She turned her tear filled eyes to find him watching her. “Make me forget the pain. Give me better things to remember than this day. Please…give me that.”
“Gladly,” he vowed. Reaching for her, he crushed her to him. His lips came down on hers hard. When she gasped, he swept his tongue into her mouth and began thrusting it in and out. Trudy felt her body respond to his. He broke the kiss long enough to rip her shirt off her. Nibbling down her neck, he began sucking on her skin all the way down to her collarbone. His arm reached around her back and he unclasped her bra. When he released it, he flung the offending object to the floor. Then his lips and tongue were bathing her breasts with kisses. He sucked her nipples deep in his mouth.
Trudy gasped as his teeth bit down gently on her skin. Her body felt on fire as Dewey’s hands went to her jeans.
He made quick work of the fastenings and began drawing her pants and panties down her legs. Then he was there. His mouth covered her clit in a second. Breathing deeply, he caught the scent of her arousal. “God you smell good,” he murmured as he fastened on to her core. Her juices slid across on his tongue and he moaned at the flavor they created. “Oh man, you taste even better.”
Trudy lifted her hips slightly and grabbed the back of his head. She wanted to mash his mouth as close to her as possible but he was already there. His tongue and fingers spread her lips and before she could think, he rammed two fingers deep inside her. “Ahh….” Trudy moaned helplessly.
Then Dewey rose up and slid his body against hers then slammed his hard cock deep inside her. “I couldn’t wait any longer,” he whispered in her ear and he plunged into her again.
“I’m not complaining,” she whispered breathlessly as he continued his assault on her senses.
He continued to thrust into her and felt he was losing control, but he couldn’t stop. He felt her pussy tighten down on his shaft and he knew she was close. “I need you to come. I can’t hold on.”
As if on cue, Trudy lifted her hips as she came. Bright bits of color went off like fireworks behind her eye lids and she screamed out his name. She felt herself clamp down on his invading cock but it wasn’t to keep him out, it was to keep him deep inside her.
Dewey sank deep inside her and stayed as he rode out his climax.” I love when we come together,” he growled into her ear. Finally, he couldn’t help but slide off her body. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to lay on top of him.
Trudy snuggled Dewey as she laid her head on his chest. She could hear his heart pounding in his chest and the sound gave her comfort. Closing her eyes, she felt herself drifting off. Dewey pulled the covers up to cover them both. Then he too, closed his eyes and they both fell asleep.
A knock sounded on the door. Dewey moved Trudy off his chest and grabbing his jeans, made his way to the door. Parker motioned for Dewey to join them and Dewey grabbed his shirt and shoes before walking down the hall to join everyone else in the main room. “What’s up?” he wanted to know.
“Our friends are back,” Stone told him as he motioned toward the cameras.
Dewey watched the cameras and saw three men carefully searching the grounds. He quickly glanced at Stone and saw the other man looked as concerned as he was.
The three men seemed to be looking for something specific. The only thing out this way was the underground room they were in.
Then Dewey remembered something about Ronnie having a tracking unit in his arm. “Parker told me Ronnie had ripped his arm open. He said something about a tracker. It didn’t make any sense to me then but if the cartel put a tracker into his body they wanted to be able to find him at any time and any place.”
Stone surveyed the cameras for a moment. “Must be cartel men then. They just never give up do they?” Then he looked at his friend. “Why would they hunt her down like this, if all she took from them was money? Money they’ve probably made ten times back by now.”
“You think she took something besides the money that night?” Dewey frowned.
“It’s been almost a decade since she swiped that money,” Stone pointed out. “It’s got to be more than just that.”
“Do you think she knows she took something they’d want back?” Dewey wondered out loud.
“Maybe you should ask her,” Stone suggested.
Dewey peered down the hall at the door to his room. “Maybe I should at that.” He went down the hall and opened the door. He saw her laying on the bed he’d just left. He felt hot all over as he stared at her. The woman was so beautiful and all his. He shook his head. He needed to keep his focus and right now, it was on what happened that night ten years ago.
He sat down beside her and gently stroked her cheek waiting for her to open her eyes. When she did, Dewey smiled. “Sweetheart, Stone and I need to ask you something. Can you get dressed?”
Trudy groaned. “I suppose. Give me a few minutes to wake up.”
Dewey got up and went back to the main room. He got two cups of coffee and waited for Trudy to get dressed and come out.
Stone sat watching the cameras looking puzzled.
Trudy came out and sat down next to Dewey.
Stone joined them.
“What’s up guys?”
“I’d like to ask you about the night you fucked with the drug dealer…” Stone began.
Trudy frowned and picked up her coffee. “Why that night?”
“Because something about this cartel thing doesn’t make sense.” Stone shrugged.
“What do you mean?” Trudy frowned.
“I mean they wouldn’t be chasing you down for ten years if all you took that night was money. They could have and probably have made that back, plus a whole lot more.”
Trudy thought back for a moment. Had she taken something the cartel wanted back bad enough to chase her for the last ten years? What about Ronnie? If all they wanted was their money back, would they really have let him live this long? “IS that why Ronnie is still around do you think?” she asked.
“Honey, these men are ruthless murderers. If all you took that night was the money, they would have killed your brother a long time ago and went on with their business,” Dewey assured her. “There are three men up top searching for this place right now.”
“What did you do that night? Can you walk us through the events and what happened?” Stone asked.
Trudy searched her memories for the night that changed her life ten years ago. “I had to wait until everyone in the house was asleep. I knew the dealers’ routine by then. I had watched his movements for over a week. Thursday was the night he collected for the cartel. He would bring the money home, count it, put the amount in his files then the next day, he would take it to the drop-off point for the cartel to pick it up. The first thing I did that night was hack his records. I copied every file on his computer then I moved the money around until there was no trace of it anywhere. Then I wiped the computer files and left him with a blank computer. There was nothing left on it. It was almost like the day he bought it. Then I destroyed his stash of drugs and I left.”
“Wait a minute,” Dewey called out. “Back up, you said you copied everything on his computer?”
Trudy nodded. “Yeah, I did.’
“Why did you do that?” Stone asked.
Trudy shrugged. “I don’t really know. I didn’t do it on purpose. I
just did it. It was my first adventure into the criminal world, so give me a break.”
“Do you still have the copy of what you downloaded that night?” Stone asked.
“Yeah, I have it.”
“Did you ever look at it?” Dewey asked.
“No, I never did. Other things went on and I never got the chance to see what was there. Why?”
“The cartel wants that information back,” Stone informed her. “They’ve waited ten years to get it back. They let your brother live in hopes that he could get you to them. I know you have mad skills and all of that but I have a feeling there’s more to it than that.”
“Well then, let’s find out. I’ll be right back.” She got up and went to the bedroom. When she returned a few minutes later, she had a flash drive in her hand. She went over to her secure computer and plugged in the drive.
When the files came up they quickly searched them for something that would mean anything to the cartel. Most of the files were checks and balances. Payments in and payments out. They went through everything on the drive.
It wasn’t until they got to almost the last file that Stone knew they’d hit pay dirt. He searched the information he found there and sat back in his chair. Still staring at the computer screen, he finally turned his head and stared at her for a moment. “Do you have any idea what this is?”
“No I have no clue what this is. Do you know what it is?”
Stone nodded. “Yeah, I think I do. This is the evidence the State department and the military will use to shut down not only the cartel that’s been chasing you for the last ten years but this information will bring down the existing Mexican government and take out some of our own corrupt power people.”
Trudy glanced over at Dewey then back to Stone. “But we just busted up the cartel, didn’t we?”
“We broke a small piece of the whole. All the families in the different cartels belong to a bigger family. It’s sort of like our Mafia. There are different families but they all belong to a bigger whole. This list names them all. This lists every crime, ever bribe, every rule they ever broke. It also lists their activities, who did what and where all the bodies are buried. More than that, it will tell our government who aided them and to what extent.”
