I limp my way over to the receptionist.
“Hello, I need to see a doctor, I think my foot is infected.” I say.
“Do you have identification miss?” It is a twenty-something year old blonde girl.
“I’m sorry, I don’t. I was in here a few days ago, I came in to get stitches. I was seen by that doctor.” I point to Dr. Charlie.
“I need to see identification before I can let you in.” This girl is giving me such a hard time. I don’t know why she keeps asking, I told her I had none. I’m panicking, I feel myself getting worse. I’m about to tell her they didn’t ask for it last time when Dr. Charlie interrupts.
“Jenny, I know who this patient is, she was in here a few days ago. I asked her to come in for a follow-up.” Dr. Charlie says.
“Dr. Charlotte, I didn’t know, I thought she was lying about being in here. You know how it’s been. Right? All the homeless and junkies trying to get free care and take advantage,” she says nervously.
“Jenny, what I see is a patient who so obviously needs help, did you not bother to see that there is blood on the floor or that she’s sweating when it’s 30 degrees outside?” I stand there not knowing what to say. I feel a little faint.
“I think I need to sit down if you don’t mind, I don’t feel so well…” I say right before, I faint.
Chapter 5
Dr. Charlie
I’m dialing Liz, I need to find out what she knows about Sky.
“Good Afternoon, Sweetie Pies.”
“Hey Liz, it’s Charlie.”
“Hey Charlie! What can I help you with?”
“You know the girl that was with you when you came to the hospital?”
“Yeah. What about her?”
“Well, she came into the hospital last night with a bad infection. The infection spread to her blood stream, causing her to become septic, and we had to induce a coma to help her body fight.” I am struggling with maintaining my patient’s confidentiality but Liz might have information I need.
I hear her gasping through the phone. “Oh my, is she going to be okay? What can I do?” In the short time that I have known Liz, she’s always eager to help.
“The reason I’m calling is to see if you knew where she was staying, or know of anyone that knows her, so we can notify them. She has no ID or anything on her.”
“No, I know nothing about her. I only just met her when she was leaving the hospital, and she offered to help me carry the food. I thought she worked in the hospital to be honest.”
“Yeah, well she doesn’t work here, she was a patient that night.” I feel hesitant telling her the next thing but I need help figuring out what to do with what I found out. “There is something else too, I’m not sure if I should tell Breaker or not. I need you to promise me that you will never say a word of what I’m about to tell you to anyone. I need to vent so I can think. I would talk to Heather but I need a fresh perspective.”
“I promise you. I would never betray you that way.”
“I’m trusting you here. Since, she had no ID or anything, we did a standard body check for any kind of identifying marks or tattoos and found a huge Property of Death Riders MC tattoo on her back.”
“I’m not sure I understand Charlie.”
“I shouldn’t be telling you this but the Death Riders are the ones responsible for putting Winger in the hospital.”
“Oh gosh, do you think she was sent to spy on the club?”
“I don’t know, I have a feeling that she wasn’t but I just don’t know. I think she’s running away from something. I’m struggling because I don’t know if I should tell Breaker. He may go off the hinges. I’m afraid of what he’ll do when he finds out.” I let out a huge sigh. It feels good to get that off my chest.
“Charlie, you can’t keep this a secret from him. You have to tell him. If she is a spy, which I don’t think she is, they need to know.”
“You’re right. I have to tell him. If you find out anything about her, please let me know. She isn’t in great shape and I’m sure someone is missing her.” It feels good to get that off my chest, but at the same time I’m scared. Breaker, my husband and President of the Corrupted Saints MC is going to be pissed that I didn’t come to him right away. He has been on pins and needles ever since I got pregnant.
“Let me know if there’s anything I can do. I’ll talk to you soon. A horde of customers just walked in.” I hear a bunch of people in the background.
“Thanks for listening Liz, I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Bye Charlie.”
I hang up and feel conflicted. Being a doctor is my job, and maintaining my patient’s confidentiality is of utmost importance next to their well-being, but Breaker and the Corrupted Saints are my family. I need to tell Breaker; they could help the hospital find out who she is. I know she’s homeless but beyond that, there’s only blanks left to be answered. I contacted the police but they just want to wait until she wakes up. They are useless most of the time since the MC pretty much runs the town.
I’m about to walk into Sky’s room when I see Heather, my best friend and nurse walking out with a frazzled look on her face.
“Hey girlie, what is going on? You look frazzled.”
“Hey, so I just finished bathing our dear patient over here and she happens to have a giant Death Riders MC tattoo on her back! When were you going to tell me?” She raises her voice.
“Shh, calm down please, I just found out myself. I’m about to call Breaker and Tank.”
“You’re damn right, you are. She could be a spy. I need to talk to them as well. We got a John Doe who came into the hospital last night after being found beaten to a pulp, he has a huge chunk of his back removed. It looks like they skinned him. He also has scars all over his body, from what looks like being tortured and he is suffering from severe malnutrition. He has no recollection of who he is except he was wearing a Corrupted Saints cut.” What Heather just told me scares me. The club keeps old ladies out of club business and I feel like I’m getting involved with the club more than I should be.
“Are you serious? That’s impossible, all the brothers are accounted for and they haven’t gone out on anything as far as I know. I mean I know I’m not told everything, but it seems like they are lying low.” Ever since the drop was intercepted and Winger and Tank were hurt, Breaker has the club lying low. He even issued a lockdown where all family, wives and kids are locked down in the clubhouse for protection.
“Yeah, well the cops came by here, which they never do and started asking questions. The guy seems to know nothing about who he is. From the looks of it, they are connecting it to the club since he came in with a cut.” Shit, this is going to be bad.
“Where is he?”
“He is staying next to our little spy, Sky.”
“Dammit! Alright, I’m calling Breaker. Get ready for a shit storm my dear.” I place my hands protectively on my swelling belly, I can feel my baby boy moving around.
I call Breaker and Tank and tell them everything I know. They are headed to the hospital now. I hope they don’t cause issues, I could tell my husband was fuming, he got quiet. I could hear Tank in the background cursing too.
Chapter 6
Tank
I cannot believe the news Charlie just told us. Sky, the homeless girl I’ve been thinking about more than I should, is a club bitch belonging to none other than the Death Riders MC. The same club responsible for putting Winger in a coma and putting a bullet in my arm. Char, Pres’s old lady showed us a photo of the tattoo on Sky’s back, it says Property of Death Riders MC. This bitch is a spy, it can’t be a coincidence that the same night we get attacked on our run, she shows up at the hospital. I’ve always been a protector and lover of women but ever since I met this girl; I’ve felt weird towards her. She is different from any other woman I’ve ever met and I’m not sure it’s in a good way.
Once the woman wakes up, we’re gonna have words. In the me
antime, I’m gonna have Rock come down and take her fingerprints to find out who she is. I’m going to also have him take prints off John Doe, hoping we can figure out who he is too. If there’s a person who could find a ghost, it would be him.
Breaker and I have been to her hospital room every day for a few days now hoping she to catch her awake. We have been keeping things very tight-lipped at the club, just title holders are allowed to know what is going on. We suspect one of the brothers is selling us out to the Death Riders.
Today is the third day, we hope they can wake her up today. I’m pacing around her bed looking down at her. She’s a beautiful woman, and I’ve been struggling with thinking these thoughts. She is a possible traitor to the club, a club that I bleed for.
“Tank, sit the fuck down. You’re pacing like a mad man.” Breaker says.
“I can’t, I want her to wake up, I want her to tell us that she’s a spy and responsible for putting Winger in a coma.” I want all my questions answered and I want her to answer them. Most of all I want someone to blame for putting my brother in a coma.
I sit down next to him. “Look, as much as I want to make her the bad guy, I got a feeling that she isn’t a spy,” he says.
“There are too many coincidences here for her to not be involved.”
“Have you heard anything back from Rock?”
“Not yet, let me give him a ring.”
Breaker stands up, “Well, you do that, I’m going to check on my woman. She’s going to kill me and my kid by continuing to work these long shifts. Let me know what you find out.”
“Got it.” I pull my phone out and dial Rock.
“Yup.” He answers.
“You got anything for me, brother? Pres and I are waiting.”
“I was just about to call, asshole.”
“Well, spit it out you cocksucker. Who is she?”
“You’re not going to believe it. Sky and John Doe are related, brother and sister. He was born as Samuel A. Johnson, otherwise known as the former President of the Death Riders MC. She’s his twin sister Skylar A. Johnson. They both have been reported missing. Police reports say that he may have been killed during gang related activity. He was President of their club before their current president took over.” What the fuck! Our John Doe is former President of the Death Riders and Sky is his sister. There’s no way this is a coincidence. The police have been sniffing around but we were able to get them off our backs by throwing cash at them.
“Shit!”
“Wait, there’s more. The police in our piece of shit little town has somehow lost the missing person's report on John Doe. It seems like they logged the prints but did not run a search. It looks like we have dirty cops working with the Death Riders.” Shit!
“Do you know who logged the prints into the police database?” I can’t believe we may have a rat in the club but also dirty cops betraying us to a rival MC. They get money to stay out of our way, every single fucking month.
I can hear typing in the background. Rock is a computer genius. “Hmm, that’s interesting.”
“What’s that?”
“It looks like someone is using the login ID for a retired cop. They haven’t deactivated his account yet. Whoever this is, is covering their tracks to make sure no one finds out about Sam.”
“Isn’t there a way you could look into their computers to find out who took his prints or logged in?”
“It’s not that easy, I need time. They keep cameras under a harsher lock and key. If you give me some time I can figure it out.”
“Alright, thank you brother. Let me know if you find out more.”
“Will do,” he says and hangs up.
This situation is a total shit storm. I gotta break the news to Pres. We need to watch our backs and find out who is setting the club up for attempted murder. What the assholes, who are trying to frame us don’t know, is that if the Corrupted Saints wanted someone dead, it wouldn’t be an attempt, it would be done.
I’m about to dial Pres to tell him what Rock discovered when he walks into the room. I see him take a look at Sky.
“What did you find out?” He asks.
Chapter 7
Sky
Why can’t I move? Who is talking? I can’t open my eyes. I feel asleep but awake inside.
“What did you find out?” It is a man’s voice, I don’t recognize it.
“Pres, you won’t believe the shit Rock just told me,” I know that voice, it’s the gorgeous giant. Why’s he around me? I wish he would stay away. Where am I? The last thing I remember is walking into the hospital and then… Oh my gosh, I fainted. Am I dead?
It’s the giant again. “Rock, told me that our John Doe next door and Sky, our little spy are actually brother and sister. His name is Samuel A. Johnson, and she is Skylar A. Johnson.”
Why are they talking about my brother Sam? How do they even know about him? Why would they say he is next door when he is dead? They must be confused. I’m not a spy too.
“Are you sure?” It is the other guy’s voice. It must be the President of the Corrupted Saints MC.
“Yes, he ran finger prints on both of them. Both came up missing. He is suspected dead relating to gang activity. This guy was their President before the sick fuck Hank took over.”
“Shit. How is this possible? Why haven’t they come to get him then?” The President asks.
“Rock says we may have a dirty cop. Someone used a retired cop’s login to log the prints into their system but they never ran the prints. Which means they know who he is, and they know who she is but don’t want to alert anyone.” It’s the behemoth, his voice sounds huge but kinda sexy. I can sense him pacing back and forth around me.
I’m scared. They know who I am and they are saying that my brother is alive. Is that even possible? The club told me they killed him, they brought me his cut, and a watch he never took off.
“Is there anything else? I want to know who the fucking cop is that is betraying us. I also want to know who the fucking asshole is that gave them one of our cuts. They are trying to set up our club for attempted murder. They hurt my club and they will pay with blood.” It’s their president and just listening to him scares me. When my brother was president I was treated like royalty, no one would touch me, when he went away, I became nothing but a plaything.
“Rock is looking into hacking the police cameras to see if he can find out who logged into the computer.” Hacking, I know how to do that. I know how to do that really well. Before, I became a club plaything I worked in cyber security. It was my hacking that got me free. It wasn’t until I learned the Death Riders routine that I was able to escape.
“You let me know the first thing you find out. In the meantime, we need to figure out why she’s here and what we’re going to do with an amnesiac Death Riders President.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out.”
My brother is alive. It must be a mistake. I can hear them talking in the background but all I can think of, is that my brother could be alive. I’m having trouble believing this but they are saying he is alive. It is weird, but I always felt like he was watching me.
I can’t open my eyes but I feel darkness consuming me. I don’t want to go, I want to keep listening.
Chapter 8
Tank
We’re in a shit storm that is about to hit category five. John Doe is no longer just an innocent John Doe, he is the former president of our rival club, the Death Riders. I still don’t know how Sky is involved in all of this, but I wish they would wake her up so that we can find out some information. She’s either a spy or she’s running from something, bitches don’t get property tattoos like that for no reason. It would seem that she’s someone’s bitch, but it looks like they didn’t properly claim her. Her tattoo doesn’t have a name, it is just a club tattoo, which makes little sense. Only old ladies get “property of” tattoos with the name of their old man, her tattoo doesn’t have an old man
’s name. A beautiful woman like her would be claimed in our club.
I’m sitting in Sky’s room waiting for Char to come back and let us know if they are going to wake her up. They are waiting for her blood results to come back and confirm that she’s infection free. Breaker went to the clubhouse to update the brothers and to take care of some business. We plan to question Sam about what he remembers and see if he can fill in some holes of how he got here. Since he has amnesia, it will be difficult. Char said that his memory should come back but with brain injuries they don’t know when it will come back. She said a smell, a word, or sound can trigger their memory. One thing for sure is that his club has rejected him, they skinned his whole back, removing his club tattoo. The Death Riders are stupid motherfuckers, they left him alive, and he was found. Char told us he was tortured and starved. Who knows what else they did to him.
I’ve been watching Sky sleep for what feels like hours when Char walks in with Heather. “Hey Tank. Good news, her blood work looks great, we’re going to bring her out of the coma,” she says.
“You need to let her adjust to being awake before you question her. She’s in a very fragile state. Not to mention we shouldn’t even have you in here. We had to tell them you were her boyfriend,” says Heather.
“I won’t say anything to her, I’ll call Breaker while you guys take care of her.”
I walk out of the room, allowing Char and Heather to do what they need to, to bring her out of the coma. I need to call Breaker and let him know. I dial his number.
“Yup.”
“Pres, Char and Heather are bringing her out of the coma.”
“I’m dealing with some shit down here with Rock, you question her when you get a chance and let me know.”
