The next morning at Sunrise they made the final preparations for their trip. They had connected the Jeep behind the motorhome to be towed. Tak had covered the marking that had indicated it was a police cruiser with white spray paint so the entire vehicle was now plain white. They filled the RV’s fresh water tanks and loaded it with more food water and supplies than they thought they’d need. Tak put the SAW machine gun, ammo and grenades in the hollow storage space under the couch, but kept his pistol on his side. He had already taken the RV out before sunrise and filled it and a couple 10-gallon gas cans up and topped off the propane tanks. As they started to drive off a patrol car drove up next to him; it was his lifelong friend, Nathan Naff. Tak stopped the beast and put it in park, saying “Naff! Hah! What in the hell are you doing here man?!” Naff got out and retrieved a suitcase and a rifle case from his trunk as he said “There ain’t nothing here for me here now man. You didn’t think I’d let you two run off into the sunset alone, did ya? Somebody’s got to chaperone ya’ll. You better make room in there for me.” A big smile spread across all three of their faces. Wherever the road took them, they would be traveling it with friends. “Get in ol’ buddy. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover.”
