The Hottie and the Fatty
Page 2
I was chewing my salmon when dad said to me, “How’s school Jared?”
Cool. I got slapped by my girlfriend because I kissed another girl last night and we broke up after. Whole school either a hates me or worships me right now. And by the way, I caused an emotional trauma to a fatty to vent off my stress. Was what I wanted to say.
I shrugged. “Same as usual”
“You’re not going around screwing your future, are you?”
“Nope. Not yet.” As long as I maintained passing grades, Dad didn’t bother me and let me do as I pleased.
“How’s Patricia? She hasn’t called today.” This time, it was Kiana who asked. She and Tricia became phone pals during our whole relationship. I didn’t even know how it all happened.
“We broke up.” I said with bluntness.
“Ohh. I’m sorry about that, Jared.” I can hear Kiana’s genuine concern. “You guys looked good together. But I guess that doesn’t guarantee that you can be together forever.”
“Don’t call Patricia anymore. And if she calls, don’t answer it.” I said without giving an explanation.
“If that’s what you want, honey. Your Dad and I are always here to listen to your problems.” I grimaced with the endearment. I looked at Dad, he was busy eating a lettuce from his salad.
“Right, dear?” Kianna turned to dad for confirmation.
Dad put down his fork. “Kiana, Jared is a boy, I think he would prefer to battle it out himself whatever heart problems he has right now instead of having awkward conversations with his parents.”
I hated to admit but I agreed with Dad. Not that I was actually gonna tell them anything.
“But that was his first relationship! He doesn’t have a previous experience he can use as a guide, we adults have plenty of that and I’m generous enough to give an advice or two.”
“I don’t actually mind giving an advice Kiana, my point is, men and women have different coping strategies. And since I’m a man, and Jared here is a man, I’d know more about it than you do.”
This was the first time they’ve been close to arguing and it was about my love life. They went on and on with it. They didn’t even notice that I escaped the table.
Chapter 3
Jared
People were still giving me the same vibes that I received yesterday. Give them a week and they’ll be over it. So I went through the whole day with my usual pattern. High-fiving my friends when I met them in the hall way, flirting with the pretty girls, ignoring the losers and going to classes while gaining half assed scores.
While eating my lunch with the popular kids in the dining hall, I saw Patricia stealing glances from her table to look at me. Her old throne (chair beside me) was temporarily occupied by Lennon, my friend and blockmate. A satisfied smirk on her face told me that she was okay with that.
I ate my lunch prepared by Kiana and as expected, it was heavenly. The norm in our school was to buy food in the dining hall. That was before I entered this school.
Everson High was a private school built by the rich for the rich. The school bought the surrounding lands and turned it into a baseball field, football field, a sunken garden, and an Olympic sized pool. We even had our own golf course. Only downside was that we had a very strict security. We weren’t allowed to eat outside campus for lunch. A school policy supported by parents who feared kidnapping. One large dining hall catered to all the hungry students. It would have been fine if they sold good food. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Since they were confident that the students would buy from their lame ass dining hall, they didn’t bother improving the quality of the food. Well, too bad for them. I was not gonna put up with that. Jared Kippling deserves only the best.
From the first day that I found out that dining hall food was terrible, I always brought home made lunch to eat instead of a crappy excuse of food that the dining hall was selling. Following my example, my friends started to bring their own lunch too and soon the whole school was doing the same thing. The school, threatened that the dining hall might close because of this, improved their food to get customers and somehow managed to survive.
“Man, you and Tricia are really over?” Lennon asked while munching on his homemade tortillas.
“Yes.” I answered.
“So you won’t mind if I go after her?” I knew Lennon had a thing for Tricia way back but Tricia was into me. And he knew that he didn’t stand a chance against me in all aspects, money, talent, and especially in the looks department. Okay, he might be smarter than me, I give him that but he had to get good grades for his scholarship. My point is that it was a do or die situation for him, he didn’t get A plus means no school while for me, well, no pressure, C’s were fine.
“Knock yourself out, Len.” I shrugged, not really interested with the topic.
Lennon half smirking said, “Nice.”
He could have the girl for all I care. Good luck with Ms. Bitter.

It was time for my Bio class. I was secretly anticipating to attend this class today to see my new found toy (fatty) and torture her some more. And I purposely went early today as well remembering that fatty was an early bird. There was no sign of her when I entered the room. I guess I was too early. So I decided to kill time by taking out my ipad and played Angry Birds.
Everyone was seated when Ms. Santos, our Biology teacher, arrived. Everyone except for fatty. She was late I guess. Or maybe she had an emotional breakdown due to yesterday. Whatever. Totally disappointing but oh well, there are other things to entertain myself with.
Students were saying, “Present,” as Ms. Santos checked our attendance. That was when a familiar name was mentioned and caught my attention.
“Ms. Reyn?” Ms Santos called.
I checked to see who the kid Ms. Reyn was. Maybe she was related to Dad’s Mr. Reyn, might even be his daughter. Dad would be ecstatic if that was the case. The chances of her getting into this school were high, after all this school was built for kids like us whose parents were filthy rich. If she was hot, maybe I’d try to work Jared Kippling’s charms on her. I smiled with the thought.
Mrs. Santos’ call was answered with silence. I guess she was absent.
And that’s when it hit me.
I had a dark suspicion who Ms. Reyn was. But I shook the thought away. No. No way.
“Ms. Reyn’s absent again? That’s unusual.” Ms. Santos creased her brows. “Anyone knows Ms. Reyn’s contact number?”
An emo girl in the front seat raised her hand.
“Call her for me dear, and check up on her. Tell her I don’t take absences lightly.”
“Sure thing, Miss.” Emo girl answered.
It must be someone else right? I’m sure this Reyn girl was another kid who just happened to be absent same day as fatty.
But my hope died when Ms. Santos said, “Ms. Reyn is breaking the perfect attendance of the class.”
~*~*~
I left the room as soon as class ended. So Ms. Reyn was fatty. Big deal? No. Not yet. But I’d be in deep shit if she happens to be related to dad’s Mr. Reyn. If she somehow holds that big of a grudge on me and takes it out on dad’s business deal then I’m dead for sure. Dad may not care about my other screw ups but when it affects his business, there’d be no mercy from him.
Wait. Hold on. I’m thinking way too far for this. I’m not even sure if they’re related. Calm down Jared. There’s no need to stress myself with something that I’m not even sure of.
Oh what the hell? Worrying cramps my style. It was just not me. I needed a good busting up to relieve my stress. Karl was just the guy who knew every party in town so I called him up when I saw him in the changing room during our basketball practice.
“Karl, what’s going on tonight?”
“Jared, my man! About time you join us again.” He said, greeting me as if we were having a grand reunion even though we practically meet every day for basketball practice. “Party at Mary’s house, seven o’clock. Cheerleaders are gonna
be there so lots of hot chicks.” He winked like a maniac.
Karl was my second in command when it came to playboy reputation. But sometimes, I think he was just trying too hard.
“Cool. I’ll be there.” I said.
“Great. See you later then.” We did our handshake thing and moved on for practice.
~*~*~
At basketball practice, Sarah was at work again with her flirting. Making sure I notice her looking my way and throwing her seductive smile at me. When Coach Roger gave us a break, the team was able to have a good view of the cheerleaders. We were seated on the bench, drinking water and wiping our sweats. The cheerleaders were practicing their complicated routines and the guys were checking their asses.
“Sarah has the hots for you, man.” TJ, one of the starters and a good friend of mine said and lightly punched me in the back.
“Oh yeah? I haven’t noticed that.” I smirked.
“Ha-ha. Like you could miss that. Be careful with her, she bites.” TJ warned.
“Figuratively or literally?”
I didn’t get an answer from TJ. My attention was grabbed by Sarah as she stretched her long legs in front of us. She had nice legs, I had to admit. Almost as good as Tricia’s tight and athletic legs. I was pretty sure the show Sarah was putting on right now was for me because she looked in my direction and I winked at her for her efforts. Hell, I think I might reconsider going out with her, she had such nice legs and I’m a leg man.
“There’s a party tonight at Mary’s. You guys should go.” Sarah said to me and TJ.
“I’m thinking about going.” I said as I gorged my eyes with her flawless legs.
Chapter Four
Jared
“Over here, sexy.” Sarah hissed, her hot breath warming my left ear.
We left the party after a few drinks and some small talks with our friends. Right after Sarah saw me, she’s been giving me the vibes (the I want to get it on vibes). I pretended not to notice the signals she’d been giving me and acted casually. But after a drink or two, Sarah’s intent gaze was already welcomed. I let her guide me to one of the many bedrooms of Mary’s house. Now, this is when the real party starts.
“You’ve been here before?” I asked as she led me to an open room.
“Yeah, we do sleep-overs here from time to time.” She answered absent-mindedly, closing the door behind her and giving me her smile of victory.
I smiled at the back of my head. The girl thought she got me. I knew Sarah’s type. She was one of the girls who wanted to take control, she was like the female version of me. I just have to play along with her game then.
“Want some champagne?” Sarah offered as if she was Eve offering Adam a taste of the forbidden fruit. And I can’t blame Adam for taking the bite.
“Sure.” I eyed the bucket and the two glasses lying on the table.
So she planned this. I give her an A for effort and preparation.
We clinked our glasses and took long drinks. I didn’t make any move, I was waiting for her to do the next step, and I was starting to gain fun from watching her do it.
Two heartbeats passed.
“So when are we gonna have sex?” She asked, her tone not wavering.
I must say I was impressed by her directness and this somehow got me turned on. Here was a hot girl offering herself to me, I was not a man if I refused. Even the first man, Adam was not able to resist temptation. And I was just another mortal who has carnal needs but I keep remembering TJ’s warning.
Should I go for it or not?
I was contemplating these things in my head, my body was saying yes but another side (the arrogant side) of me says no.
“You know, Sarah, I’m not really in the mood for that right now.” The minute I said it, I remembered her gorgeous legs and I wanted to take back what I said.
Obviously, she was not used to being rejected. She looked like I just told her she was ugly.
“Jared, are you gay?”
“No.” I said in monotone. This conversation was definitely not a turn on.
“Okay, whatever, let’s just forget this ever happened.” Her eyes showed annoyance which I’m sure was because of her wasted efforts. I get the feeling she was not going to let this go easily.
~*~*~
Most people I knew were absent the next day and the few who decided to go to school looked like they were zombies walking in the hallways, moving from class to class. I guess the party last night was pretty wild. After the incident with Sarah, I left the party but I still didn’t get a good night sleep.
Since most of the popular kids were absent, the student body was mostly composed of the minorities a.k.a. losers. Somehow, the losers seemed bolder today. They were giving me this strange look.
“What the fuck are you looking at?” I shot back to one of the freaks I passed in the hallway.
The freak scurried out of my way immediately.
Seriously, just because they have more number today, they already think they can stand up to guys like me.
~*~*~
Lennon was nowhere to be found during lunch break. And Patricia was also not in her table. This gave me the hint. Wow, Len sure worked fast. Our table was almost empty and this kind of felt like I was an outcast which was of course, a stupid feeling.
To hell with that. So what if my friends were not here? I was a star on my own, I didn’t need a group to become a force. So I ate my sandwich made by Kiana which as usual was great. There it goes again. People’s eyes were on me.
To hell with them too. Watch me all you want. I took my merry sweet time eating a sandwich, and somewhere in the crowd of people watching me, I think I saw fatty drooling over my food.
~*~*~
I might have over done my show in the dining hall, when I entered the room, I was only a few seconds late for Bio class. Good thing Ms. Santos hadn’t called my name yet. All eyes were on me once I stepped inside. I casually took an empty seat at the back. Surprise, surprise. Fatty was sitting next to me. I smiled. This class was going to be fun.
“Almost half of the class is absent today? Tough night, huh?” Ms. Santos remarked and shook her head in disapproval.
Attendances were checked and Ms. Santos gave us a short lecture. She explained that there was no point in giving a full lecture today since half of the class was missing. Well, that was what she said but I thought she was just being lazy. She left us with an activity and informed us that we were to do self-study which for me basically meant free time.
I turned my attention to Ms. Reyn a.k.a fatty. She was still wearing the same style of over sized shirt but with different words in it, now that I take a good look at it I read the words.
PPL PUT U DOWN JUZ CUZ DEY WANNA FEEL GUD BOUT DEMSELVS.
Huh?
Okay. First thing I noticed was that it was a pretty long statement and if she wasn’t wearing an oversized shirt those damn words wouldn’t fit! But the message fatty was sending was clear. What the hell was up with losers today? Did they suddenly have a group meeting and decided to revolt? It’s time for some action. This really set me off. How dare this fatty make fun of me? She thinks she was so smart by what she did? I’ll make sure to scar her for life.
“Hey! Fatty, what do you mean by that?”
No response.
“Reyn! Are you deaf or something? I’m asking you what you mean by those words in your shirt.”
She looked surprised that I called her by her last name. She was blinking like she’d been staying in the dark for hours and was suddenly exposed to light. I think she was about to say something but decided against it. She ignored me and continued working on her activity.
This only added to my irritation. Okay, time to change tactics.
“Why were you absent yesterday? Were you crying the whole day and cursing your fate for being fat?”
“Why? Were you waiting for me?” Fatty said without looking up from her book.
Oh wow. She has some guts.
“In your dreams fat
ass.”
“I’m starting to think your vocabulary is only composed of those two words. Fat and Ass.”
Is this really the same fatty I was making fun of just the other day? Where’s the stammering and blushing? This was a complete hundred eighty degrees attitude change.
This must be a part of the losers’ revolution.
“Speak for yourself, I’m not the one who’s wearing misspelled words on her t-shirt. And besides, fat and ass are the only two words that describe you perfectly.” Ha! Nice come back Jared. One point for fatty and one point for me.
“Are you insecure with my ass? I think the rumor about you being gay is true since you’re so caught up with my ass.” She stopped working on her activity and looked at me straight in the eye.
This time, I was the one out of words.
“So is it true? That you’re gay?” She continued.
Ah. I knew something was up when the queer kid looked at me from head to toe. So this was the latest rumor about me, and I think I know who the source was.
“Aren’t we curious?” I leaned closer to her and I heard her sucked her breath.
Using my bedroom voice I said, “My, my, it would be such a waste of male hormones if I’m gay, don’t you think?”
I had the right effect because once again, fatty was blushing. Of course, no girl could resist when I was using my charms on full force.
“S-s-seriously, just be gay, it’d be better that way, a lot of girls will be saved from pain if you are.” She said, shrinking in her chair.
There goes the stammering. Goal achieved.
“You’re not much of a guy anyway.” With this, the bell rang and she left me dumbfounded in my chair.
Chapter Five
Jared
Two week passed but the rumor about me being gay still hadn’t died down. Of all the rumors that had been spread about me, this was the most ridiculous one. I find it so absolutely ridiculous that I didn’t even bother trying to finds ways to tone it down. My teammates were teasing me about it, refusing to change in their gym clothes when I’m around and slapping my butt just for their own entertainment. There was no need for me to get mad about their behavior, instead I played along with them. Whenever the girls (especially the cheerleaders) were around, my team would high it up a notch with their teasing (TJ actually had the guts to wipe my sweat using his towel) which resulted to girls squealing in the corner. Who knew some girls would be turned on with this guy to guy thing? Sarah was another story though. She looked disgusted whenever the boys were doing their crazy antics. It was pretty obvious that she hadn’t gotten over my rejection yet. Believing that I was gay was probably easier for her to chew than to think that she didn’t reach my standards. She was one stuck up bitch which made her totally opposite of Patricia. Sure, Patricia was still mad at me but it was for a whole other reason.
