  Also, in my story, the Magistrate of Bow Street is the purely fictional Richard Barnes. I could find very little about the real magistrate at that time, and I wanted to have the liberty of him having a backstory interwoven with Grant’s, as well as with Mr. Fairley.

  As far as I know, there was never any discussion of casting a vote of no confidence on the Prime Minister of England, Lord Liverpool. I invented that for purposes of my plot. Lord Liverpool’s term lasted until 1827 and was the longest-serving Prime Minister of England.
