“This is the moment of truth. You ready?” Diamond proudly announced.
Edge smiled. “If you are.” She grinned from ear to ear.
They had both written personal vows to each other and just finished reading them over the past hour. The ceremony was reaching an end. But in Edge’s and Diamond’s minds, a new beginning was just starting. The Double Gs family and business associates filled the white chairs planted neatly along the rows. Diamond and Edge wanted it to be weapon free, so not one Double Gs goon or sister was strapped.
“I love you, Edge,” Diamond stated.
The statement hit close to home for Edge. She began to feel great guilt. “There’s something I feel you should know,” Edge stated.
Diamond raised an eyebrow, not sure if she was prepared to hear what Edge had to say, whether it was good or bad.
The ring bearer walked down the walkway with two rings placed on top of a pillow he held. He smiled as Diamond and Edge took the rings, sliding them onto each other’s fingers.
The ring bearer walked away until he hit the end of the row. A weird man in all black sat at the piano playing smooth tunes that sounded more like funeral music than wedding music. Another single black rose sat on top of the piano in a clear vase.
“What was it you wanted to tell me?” Diamond questioned.
Glitter and Sparkle glanced at each other. They were both in earshot of Edge’s and Diamond’s every word.
Edge took a deep breath. Before she could get her words out, a loud bang filled the air. Out of nowhere, the ring bearer turned around, unveiling a pistol. He fired it into the back of Edge’s head.
Edge’s brain matter and blood painted Diamond’s face and eggshell wedding dress, right before Edge’s body flopped to the ground. Diamond’s mouth dropped to the floor.
“Nooo!” Diamond cried.
Esco let off two more rounds in the direction of Glitter and Sparkle before fleeing. Sparkle dove to the ground. She wasted no time grabbing hold of her ankle pistol. Diamond briefly looked at her knowing she didn’t want any weapons at the wedding, but she couldn’t find a reason to be mad. Sparkle couldn’t get a clear shot thanks to the stampede of people who blocked most of her view. Esco had managed to escape.
“Fuck!” Sparkle grabbed hold of her head. She along with several other Double Gs all bowed their heads at the sight of Edge.
Diamond’s eyes were glossy. Sparkle threw her arm around her to console her. She noticed she didn’t see Glitter anywhere in sight. She did a quick scan of the area. What she saw off to her far right caused her knees to buckle. “No, no, no, no, no!” she chanted as she rushed over to where her twin sister lay in a fetal position.
“Glitter? Glitter?” she called out as she dropped to the ground next to her sister. “Glitter, wake up,” Sparkle pleaded. But her cries went unanswered.
Sirens could be heard wailing in the air. “Sparkle, we gotta go,” one of the Double Gs called out.
Sparkle ignored her advice. Instead, she sat there cradling her sister, rocking back and forth.
It was actually Diamond’s voice that penetrated. “Sparkle, I need you, sis. They gone,” she said, referring to Edge and Glitter. “We not gonna do them any good if we get caught,” she reasoned with Sparkle. “Don’t worry; this isn’t over. If it’s the last thing I do, I’ll find that bastard,” Diamond cried.
Sparkle nodded. She popped a clip in her small pistol as an extra precaution and rose up. “You won’t have to find him alone,” Sparkle said. “I’m killing anybody he’s associated with,” Sparkle added.
Chapter 41
The doorbell sound broke Starr’s beauty rest in the presidential suite at Horseshoe’s hotel and casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. “Who is it?” she called out from the bed.
She looked around through cold-filled eyes and only saw a trail of clothing, evidence that Monica was in the walk-in shower. “Who is it?” she repeated.
All she could hear was a muffled noise. She flung the covers back and popped out of bed. She slipped her feet into her Gucci flip-flops and struggled to suite’s entrance. The doorbell sounded off for a second time. “Coming, coming,” Starr called out. Opening the double doors, she was met by a beautiful Somali server standing behind the tray cart with what she believed to be a full-course breakfast under silver tray tops.
“Good morning, Ms. Fields, may I come in and set up your table?” The Somali server’s accent was strong. It complemented her sultry voice, thought Starr.
“Yes, come in.” Starr moved out of the way and let the sever by.
“I am Lydia. I will be your server.”
Starr smiled. “That’s okay, you don’t have to set it up or serve it. I have it from here. It’s fine,” Starr assured her.
Just then Monica came out of the room with only her hair wrapped up. She was so preoccupied with her hair that she hadn’t even noticed the room service she had ordered had arrived, and the server was there. The Somali woman turned away to avoid seeing Monica in her birthday suit.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to offend you,” Monica said.
The woman blushed.
Starr took the bill from the server’s hand. She included a healthy tip. The Somali woman’s eyes widened when she saw the hundred dollar addition Starr had tacked on to the bill.
When she spun around to thank Starr, she was met with her and Monica in a tongue fight with Starr’s two hands full of Monica’s ass cheeks.
“My apologies.” The Somali server bowed as she backpedaled. “Thank you for the generosity,” she said before exiting the room.
“She was pretty,” Monica announced.
“Yeah, I thought so too,” Starr agreed.
“Too bad we’re both taken, though,” Monica joked.
“Yes, too bad.” Starr grabbed her from behind and wrapped her arms around Monica’s waist. “Hmm, you’re getting thick,” Starr noticed.
A nervous chill shot up Monica’s back from the comment. Please, God, don’t let this be the day she finds out, Monica began to worry. She still hadn’t told Starr about the pregnancy, let alone who it was by. She also didn’t let Prime know she was done with him as of yet. It was ironic that it was Starr who was the one she was supposed to cut off.
Monica tried to inconspicuously break free of Starr’s hold. But the more she moved, the more Starr began to caress her. “What you tryin’a say, I’m gettin’ fat?” Monica tried to make light of the situation.
“I’m definitely not saying that, but come on, babe, you tellin’ me you haven’t noticed those hips started to protrude more?” Starr asked.
Monica looked down at herself as if she were just seeing her hips for the first time. She ran her hands alongside the outer crevices of her frame and said, “I think I still feel the same.”
Starr gave her an odd look. “So you’re saying—” That was as far as Starr got before the only phone she could never turn off rang. “Hold that thought.” She held her finger up to Monica.
What the hell am I gonna do? Monica’s nervousness slowly began to turn into fear. She’s going to try to kill me and my baby, I know it. Monica began to obsess. But the sudden outburst from Starr brought her thoughts to an end.
When Monica looked over at Starr, she was sitting on the sofa with her head in the palms of her hands. “Starr, what is it?” a concerned Monica asked. She was already making her way over to where Starr sat. “Honey, what’s wrong?” She put her hand on Starr’s back.
Starr shrugged it off and then hopped up. She took a long stretch and let out an eerie bellow. Shaking it off, she cracked her knuckles.
“Starr?”
“Somebody hit the organization,” Starr abruptly jumped in.
A look of shock was Monica’s new facial expression, although she was not clear on who had exactly hit the Double Gs. “Hit the organization?”
“Somebody from Freeze’s crew hit up a wedding everybody attended, and there was a fire at the club,” Starr informed Monica.

Wait. What? Wedding? Whose wedding? And is everybody okay?” Monica rambled. She went from shocked to confused.
“Edge and Glitter are dead. Club burnt down. A lot of Double Gs were killed. Diamond was burned a few places.” Starr paused and took a deep breath before she continued. “And the wedding was Diamond and Edge’s.”
The look on Monica’s face matched the way Starr felt. Everything just told to her had Starr in total shock, from the club burning down to Diamond being in the hospital and niggas making a move on the Double Gs when they were a part of the G-files. What really rubbed her the wrong way was the fact that Diamond was nearly a married woman. Starr blamed herself. For everything. None of this shit would have happened on my watch, she believed.
All Monica could do was stand there while Starr collected her thoughts. She knew Starr was blaming herself and feeling some type of way behind Diamond’s almost being married to the late Edge. She was no fool. Although she had chosen her, Monica knew Starr still loved Diamond, and the situation was still fresh.
Starr cleared her throat. The look on her face had already told Monica what she was about to say.
“I’m sorry, babe, but we have to get back to Vegas. The Double Gs need me.”
